If you plan to get cash for clothes, don't go to this location (or at the very least call before you drive there). 3 days in a row they've stopped doing cash for clothes around 5pm (despite them being opened till 9pm on weekdays), and will only offer store credit. The one in St Pete has been way more reliable and the staff is always so inviting/nice. I will never go to the largo location again to shop or sell. So disappointing and extremely inconsiderate for the people trying to sell clothes (especially people who work a 9-5 job). One day their excuse was that they're too busy to do cash for clothes and the next day their excuse was that it was too slow to do cash for clothes (but not too busy to give store credit for clothes?? First and foremost, I am a business owner and I actually run a retail store/hair salon. I have gone to a Different place's closet in Tampa before and had a very one on one friendly interaction with the employees and was very satisfied when I left there because I do bring high-end items. This store was ran by a bunch of children who had nasty attitudes and when I was trying to ask them exactly what was wrong with a certain thing why they didn't purchase it they didn't wanna explain to me. I'm like I'm just trying to learn so I know what not to do and for instance, she could tell me nothing whatsoever except for a fuzzball on one of the Hollister shirts. Basically what it was my girlfriend came in before I did and she's very sexy and they were all flirting with her and then I come in and they realize she's not single. I'm 40 years old. I don't have time for the little kitty games so these three teenage girls Decided not to buy any of my stuff but like three items mind you I looked at the website to make sure that I only brought what they allotted in the store on the website says SHEIN Nike Calvin Klein Nine West etc. but besides all that I also brought in real jewelry meaning real Sterling, silver or gold plated it blew out the water anything they had there for sure.and their jewelry was not on point at all. They had two racks they're almost empty and their excuse for not buying my jewelry was they had plenty of inventory now moving forward. and I did call the day prior to even going to the store and asked what all they're accepting because I know that it is like winter in Florida so I wasn't sure and everything they said which was bodysuits jacket out apparel basically everything except for shorts pretty much and I was appalled. By the way I was treated even after the fact I donated a whole bunch of clothes to them meaning like Hollister Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, think there is like seven pairs of Abercrombie and Fitch jeans I donated quite a bit and a couple purses as well one of them being a coach bag so I decided to shop in the store as well and I'm shopping. I can hear the little redhead girl I don't know if she's an employe or not ,or if she was just in there, but she was very rude and nasty and she was like mocking me and telling me under her breath for me to leave already. I have just never been so appalled by Customer Service and I have children their age and I can assure you my kids would never act that way I could leave them through my store and I know I would make profit these little girls are children, young minded children, who are running your business in the ground cause I do know you're privately owned is what I was understood and you have another location in Sarasota as well .Where was their mommy and daddy or the manager where is the owner? I am now speaking directly to the owner. Please give me a phone call or an email ASAP I'll be more than happy to run your business for you. That's what I do. I'm not a local but I love going to Plato's when I travel to see what I can find. This location was not very busy but I did go on a weekday. All the girls working were super nice, greeted everyone while they came in, making the customers feel welcomed! Believe it or not that makes a huge difference! As someone who always follows rules I completely understand a store having some general ones to follow. What I don't appreciate is those rules only being communicated verbally. Driving 30 minutes to be told they can't look at my stuff because they close in an hour (I came 6 minutes after 5:00pm), is RIDICUOUSLY WHEN YOU DON'T 1. HAVE A SIGN ON YOUR DOOR or 2. POST THAT ON YOUR WEBSITE (I did check before getting in my car). so unprofessional and not the way to run your business. I should have stuck to my instincts about returning to this awful establishment. I'm desperate to get rid of my high end clothes that are mostly new with tags or have never been worn because I need space for new clothes. Anyways I brought a whole laundry basket filled with clothes from Lululemon, Lilly Pulitzer, VS Pink, Nike etc,. I even brought in some brand new and sealed high-end perfumes like Gucci bloom and YSL black opium to give you a price point. They needed 25-45 minutes. When they called to say they were finished I was told what they were accepting and what they were giving back. I know they're there to make money but it's criminal what they're doing. For example they took a brand new vs shirt with tags that retails for 49.99 and were like we can offer you 2.49. I didn't want to hear the rest of the offers because I just expected it to be in the single dollar range for perfume that is over $125. So I just say no. You lost me at that. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Took in 2 bags filled with great name brand shoes, clothes and handbags. They only wanted my Harley Davidson clothes. 3 pairs of jeans and 4 shirts for $26. One pair of jeans alone they can sell for more. I regrettably sold the items because I needed the cash but will never go here again. I suggest calling other shops first before wasting your time here. They recently moved across the street near the Publix & the space seems better suited for them. They also are great at powering through buys; often I'll be quoted an hour and it'll be done in 45 mins or so, and the offers they make here often tend to be better than what the Palm Harbor location seems to offer. The staff is especially friendly and energetic here! While the Palm Harbor location is actually closer to me, I definitely prefer this location. My only complaint is that the parking lot can get a bit tight on the weekends; lots of people shopping & dropping off bins to sell, and it makes it harder to get in & out of here unfortunately. read more

I took two bins of clothes to be consigned. They told me they would text me after they looked through them. They refused every piece of clothing in my bins saying " they are not the age style they sell. I didn't know skinny Guess jeans, American Eagle jeans a strappy tanks were something 20-30- somethings didn't wear . I don't even think the looked through both bins as the clothes were in the order in which I packed them. I'm calling age discrimination on their bulls**t. My girlfriend and I have been shopping here for years. Always nice and carry very diverse selection of men's and women's clothing.

The selection of product was fair at this location. I found a good amount of personal wear and also work wear (office) that I was really pleased with. The downside: my customer service experience. The associate who assisted me in the dressing room was unfortunately blunt and rude the entire time. She ended up being my cashier as well and throughout our checkout she spoke about her personal life (dating) in detail to her coworker beside her, completely ignoring me. At one point during checkout she pulled her sweatpants down on the side to show her coworker that she was wearing bikini bottoms and stated "she just wanted to go to the beach." It all made me uncomfortable and a little irritated. *The associate is on the clock and getting paid to be there, and you as a customer are spending your money and free time. They should focus on you and the transaction for the few minutes they have you as a customer. Before I left I asked her about any student discount (they have one and it gets you 10% off of your entire purchase with a student ID, which was great) as well as the selling/trading procedure and the return policy. She didn't know the answers to the last questions but asked coworkers. I can't say I recommend this store based on my experience, but I will say that the inventory was good and I found a few really great pieces at very fair prices. read more

I have shopped and have sold clothes here and it's very disappointing. they don't accept clothing that are over 2 years old (which is understandable if the clothes are ratty, worn and in a horrible condition). But in my case, I brought them brand new Abercrombie jeans, hardly used Hollister tops, and some Vera Bradley Backpacks. They wouldn't accept them due to it being over 2 years old... yet they sell to people who are looking for great deals on second hand clothing... FOR CHEAP!! Their loss, I sold on Mercari and Poshmark and made almost double the amount of money as they were going to give me for a whole laundry basket of clothing. I've looked through their racks and I was in Disbelief of what they were selling, Raggy shirts with fabric pills, shoes with stains, etc. yet they wouldn't except my clothes that were brand new!!! My husband and I came here, and the air freshener spray they use is so completely dense and overbearing, we left very soon after we got there because we couldn't handle it anymore, and we both developed migraines from the smell. To make matters worse, the smell permeated into our hair and the clothes we were wearing, and we had to drive all the way home to Wesley Chapel with the windows down, and it's cold outside!. Allow me to explain how HORRIBLE my experience was selling clothing here. On Wednesday, June 26, I went over to Plato's closet to sell some old clothing that I had in my closet to get some extra money. I walk into their store, fill out the application, give my ID and I waited over an hour for them to check all of my clothing. Mind you, I had items in my bag that were both mine and of my boyfriend that were barely worn because we knew if we picked out the best quality and best name brand items we would possibly get more money. As a matter of fact I had a $200 adidas dress, along with 8 other name brand dresses that I have only worn TWICE. One of my items had the tag still attached to the dress. After walking around the store inspecting which types of items they usually pick to hang in their stores I walk to my car to wait & after the hour had passed, I received a text message saying that my clothes was finished being looked at and that I could come inside to pick it up. As I was entering the building I could see that pretty much all of my clothing was still folded in the same exact way I had left them when I had given it to them. Excited to see how much I possibly could have made, I patiently wait until one of the employees addressed me to give me my money and my clothes back. Out of the 4 bags of clothing I had given them, 5 items were picked out. 5 of the most worn down, ugly, faded, and non expensive items I had that were not even name brand. Which was odd due to the website specifically listing all of the brands they accept. I was more offended when I had asked why those 5 items me and my boyfriend got from Ross instead of the nicer items that were NOT worn more than twice, clearly in perfect shape, and was even washed for them. One of the females employee's told me it was because most of my items were "worn down, out of style, or just not nice." Two of the other employees responded with, "Oh, I wasn't the one who checked them." Well my question is, If all three of you noticed 4 bags of clothing and only picked out the 5 ugliest items on the top of the bag that were not name brand and were bought a Ross a very long time ago, who really was looking through my clothing? HA NOBODY WAS! I was given $22 and some change for my items that day and I had to walk away with pretty much all of my nice clothing still folded in the bags the way I gave them when I had walked in. I would like to say to this to Plato's closet employees that day that so disrespectfully disregarded my clothings and did not even bat an eye to ALL of the options I had given them and just wanted to finish their shift so they may leave, SHAME ON ALL OF YOU! I will never step foot in this smelly store again and will never recommend anyone to step foot into that Plato's Closet ever again! DO NOT BUY OR SELL CLOTHES HERE! ;) read more

I went in to sell my clothes (mind you I had a small bag & like 4 or 5 pieces of clothing in another small bag) I walk in before 8:00pm (the cut off time for selling clothes and the girl tells me right away, not even 2 feet into the store. "Are you looking to sell? Because we're done" in a sad voice like she's sooooo sorry! And I them said to her and pulled out my phone to show her the time, it's not even 8:00pm yet! And she then goes on to say "yeahhhh, my manager just told me." I didn't have to hear anything else from her! I just drove 20+ minutes their store to hear a bs excuse because they didn't feel like going through my clothes because they were too lazy! I saw and watched her from the time I came from around my car all the way up to stepping foot into the store and she never once turned her back to talk to anyone!!! What terrible customer service!! Customer service is terrible. Brought in 2 separate bags full of stuff, took over 2 hours for them to go through, after they told us an hour at max. Brought some clothes in to sell, all brand name, all current styles and all in very good condition. Hollister, American Eagle, Pink, JCrew, and some lululemon sports bras that were barely used. I waited almost an hour, while Waiting I could over hear this teenage boy and girl go through my stuff, specifically saying that they liked this random walking dead tshirt I wore for Halloween. As I walked around waiting for them to finish I was appalled at some of the things they were selling. Target V-neck tshirts that were worn out and pilled. Champion sports bras all stretched out, Ru21 jeans, and just lots and lots of obviously used, disgusting clothes that probably should've been thrown to goodwill. I was finally called back to the counter and was told 90% of my very nice, expensive clothes were not chosen including my lululemon bras, I was floored after walking around and seeing what they were actually selling versus what they were sending away. I questioned the two teenagers about the bras, "you would rather sell champion bras over these two that I'm trying to sell to you?!" (neither of these kids had probably never heard of lululemon which goes to show the incompetency of their selection knowledge.) Oh and what got me the most is they took the Walking Dead tshirt over all this other nice stuff. It just goes to show they have no idea about fashion and labels. This store is more concerned about quantity over quality. They would rather fill their store with crap rather then expensive gently used labels at a discounted price. If I wanted to buy a Target V-Neck I would cross the parking lot and buy one New for under $10. Half the stuff in this store would be the same price or maybe a few bucks more brand new if you went to their stores. On another note the store smells like B.O.! Even before this last visit I would periodically stop in just to see if maybe I could find some of my favorite brands and I always left disappointed so it just goes to show it wasn't a one time occurrence. Trust me, don't waste your time on this store, your not saving money because most of the crap they sell is from discounted stores. I would rather go straight to the source and buy it new especially if it was only $10-15 dollars to begin with. Oh and those lululemon bras..... I walked in with 15-20 Items, which all were being advertised that they were buying. I dropped my clothing off and was told it would be a 30 minute wait. I left my name and number along with my clothing. I waited over an HOUR for them to give me a call and tell me they finished looking it over.... No call ever received. I finally Go in myself to check on my product, and they offer me 1$ for an item that clearly is worth more. Never go to sell clothes, they will lowball you. I like this Platos because they have a huge selection of clothes. They get more of the beachy items and cute upscale brands. The only negative is that they don't take too much when your selling. They seem to be over stocked on items so that's probably why The staff is really nice and they are dressed in up to date fashions! We were looking for a certain item and the staff took the time out to look in the back and hunt for what we needed. That meant a lot. I try to come here every two weeks to hunt for steals. Plato's Closet has a very firm message to customers about delivering gently used clothes; however, this specific store in Largo bears the quality of a thrift store. Many of their shirts, pants, etcetera, have holes, stains, and sometimes even smell funny. Their shoes are marked with scuffs, ripped in-souls, and dirt stains as well. Today, I decided to go in and purchase a pair of leggings for twelve dollars that didn't seem damaged in the slightest; yet, they had holes, two of them, along the waistline. Unfortunately, I didn't notice this until after buying them and walking out the store. I took a look at my receipt, and it said, "Returns must be done within 5 days", so I went back after my first visit the same day. What they didn't emphasize was damaged items are not refundable. It was said on the receipt, but in very fine print. They don't tell you about the damage policy whatsoever when purchasing or walking into their store. It is not about the damaged clothing to me per-say, but the fact they will sell you trashy clothing as "gently used', and then won't take them back when you want to return them AFTER you found the damage. I went here today hoping to at least make 10 bucks so I could put that money towards other bills I need taken care of. Every time I go to a plato's closet (not just this one), I feel as if they have clothes in there they should have never "accepted" in the first place. I saw what would have been a very cute crop top with fringe on the bottom, but a good portion of the fringe was destroyed beyond repair. I don't honestly know who would want to buy it at that point. There were a few other items in there that just didn't seem like something someone would want to buy. So, anyway, when I brought my giant IKEA sized reusable bag full of clothes, I was really surprised they only took a couple of things. They were all the preteen brands, and yes, some of them were older, but nothing I would consider "out of style." I feel like they need to go through their inventory and figure out what things they think will actually sell versus things they should probably donate to people who need it. The staff was very nice, however there was a girl behind the counter on her cell phone. She apparently wasn't clocked in, but it seems unprofessional to be on the floor with your cellphone out when you have customers waiting in line to be helped (E.g. me). read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I went in today to sell some clothing items. Off the bat I already knew Plato's closet doesn't give you much for what you bring. I brought in a bag of clothes all either worn once or twice at most. Dropped off my stuff and walked around. My mom was with me and while the employees were looking through my clothing items she overheard the employees talking crap about what i have brought in, particularly about some Levi tshirts. Mind you Levi T-shirt's go for 20 bucks brand new. I don't know if she's the manager or not but you have an employee with a back tattoo of koi fish who is the most nonchalant, rudest, cold customer service employee I've seen. I worked in retail and understand how people can be but suck it up! I don't care if she had a bad day i did not do anything to her for her to be so stuck up and not professional. At the end they told me that since my clothes had some wear and tear on them (not true, cause like I said I've worn them about 1/2 times) that they would be not taking not even one item. The wait was ridiculous to have our clothes looked at so we left the clothes at the store(with all our contact information) and would return the following day. Unfortunately, we forgot. I called 2 weeks later and was told after 48 hours the clothes are donated. We never got a call stating our clothes would be donated. Very disappointing. I will never shop or donate there again. The Largo store smells musty. The selection of items leaves alot to be desired. The athletic shoes are smelly, dirty and have alot of mileage on them for premium prices. The clothing is nothing to be excited about, tshirts that as another reviewed commented I could go around the corner to Target to buy the same for a few dollars more and clean. Some of the items are downright grungy! The buyers need better directives as to what to look for. The staff are mostly high school and college students interested in talking about what they did last night then to offer assistance. I am a little older, can still wear junior clothing and shop at Platos for basics. The staff look down their noses with no realization that my dollar also pays their wages. The Tyrone store also has some of the same issues but to a lot lesser degree and is more pleasant to shop at. read more

I recently went into Plato's to return some pants I bought a few days previously that I notice after returning home had a large faded stain all the way down one of the legs of the pants. I don't know how on Earth this pair of pants passed Plato's inspection of clothing they take in but it was appalling and shows the low quality and lack of care the staff puts into the inspection process. What made it worse was the fact that I went back to Plato's with my receipt and the tags still attached to the pants as they hadn't been worn or washed and the sales associate and manager refused to return them or let me trade them for another pair of pants I could actually wear. To top it off they were RUDE and condescending, treating me like I had made the stain myself and was trying to con them. As a long time customer of this Plato's Closet I was floored by the way the staff acted. I doubt I will shop here again and I'd advise others to go to the Tyrone Blvd Plato's Closet or the one on US 19 by Palm Harbor if you want to avoid deal with BS. read more
