This store has declined in a big way. Used to be my favorite thrift in the area, was fairly priced. Their pricing has been skyrocketing long before the current inflation issues, now you get a USED target brand shirt for $11? Racks and racks of Shein (can't blame them for that) priced higher than you'd pay FROM Shein. The inflation economy has obviously hit everywhere but it's insultingly high here. Stained sweatpants priced at $10 because they're from GAP. Unmarked brand coats for $20. There wasn't a single jacket/coat under $15. Anything with leather they have out at least $40. This is not a boutique store. Absolutely insane pricing on clothing that they seem to forget is donated and used. The vinyl selection was always hit or miss but now they take any that aren't trash and put them up front for a huge markup. All the fun is gone from Sunshine thrift. read more

I've been coming to this thrift store for years now, and I really appreciate that they've stayed consistent with both sales & pricing even as the rest of the world has raised prices. Some things have a flat fee, like purses are $6.99 unless over by the jewelry/designer counter, hardback books are $2.92, and paperbacks are $1.01 each. Others, like clothing & bric-a-brac are priced as marked with color tag sales rotated weekly. I found shorts for $2.99, dresses for $6.99, and a Columbia jacket for $10.99. Not too bad at all, especially considering the quality condition! The store is also quite large; from outside it looks deceptively small, but if you truly want to browse everything, give yourself at least a few hours. read more

Today I spent 2 hours to find these two shirts. Clothes are not put into sizes and there was a waiting line at the dressing room. Most clothes were super small. I love Chicos and found several 00, 0.5 jeans which I wasn't my size and only one shirt in my size. For some reason 2-3 ppl were loading carts full with clothes and not trying them on and leaving them stranded in aisles. Don't know why. Happy I found something and also the 25 cent popcorn. One of my favorite thrift stores in all of Tampa Bay. I am a frequent customer. The staff are always kind and patient. Donata is a wonderful employee who always treats me with kindness. Trish has the best attitude of anyone I've ever met. Unfortunately, there is one staff member who treats me rudely. Jose took an item out of my cart and threw it over the counter after I had just spent $100 on a purchase. This behavior is totally unacceptable. After doing this he walked out of the store without a word to me. If I were a manager, I would not tolerate customers being treated this way, especially loyal customers. *** Update *** I spoke with the store manager Lisa, who was lovely with me and very helpful. She informed me that Jose is a district manager for Sunshine Thrift. I don't think his behavior was acceptable for a day one employee and certainly not for someone who holds his position. read more

Love love LOVE. I could spend hours in this place- coming from an 18 year old, the inventory here is incredible. If you've ever seen thrift hauls on TikTok and Instagram and wondered what kind of thrift store they must be shopping in to find the things they do, this is the place to go. The store is clean, but the one complaint I have overall is that the organization isn't great. The categories are standard- I thought it was organized by size, but it's kind of all over the place. HOWEVER! The clothes I found quickly made me forget such worries. The clothes are super cheap, anywhere from $2 and up, plus a $1 rack in the back. All jewelry was $3 and I found a cute headscarf for $4. Formal dress? $10. But the icing on the cake: I have had this gorgeous pair of satin heels saved on my Pinterest since I was 14. Retailed for over $400. Today, I found the exact pair, in my size, for $7! I was thrilled. Also, check out the goodwill the next block over! Has just as much potential as this place :) read more

Have been going to this thrift store for years. Went yesterday, usuall_ fill a cart up but saw the out rages prises! I understand inflation but blouses and most things doubled from $3.99 to $6.99. I would not have minded $4.99 . I bought one thing and my husband had already walked out and said he will never return. This is a thrift store you already get these items free, people are already going threw enough. I heard people quit and I don't care about making the store looking better with all your pictures, people need the prices to come down so people feel good about buying something for themselves at a discount price. One star is too many. The store manager just gave me the worst service in history. She was very dismissive with me and she acted like I was bothering her at the jewelry counter. What she didn't realize, is that I've started a business from buying materials from thrift stores and repurposing for sale. I've spent thousands of dollars in the location since I've moved to the area and referred several people to the store. That all ended today. I hope it was worth it to her to lose my business forever. You never know who you are dealing with and maybe constantly replying "yep" to someone when they ask you questions, is not a good idea. When shopping at this specific location you may encounter; getting clothes thrown toward you intimidatingly, being called a bitch and the use of the F bomb so loud and proudly by the employees that work here. Management takes zero accountability by holding their employees to a standard. you should not employ people who cannot work in retail. a customer shopping at this location should not leave anxious, in tears after an employee was so aggressive and hateful towards them. Discrimination runs heavy in this location, employees think they can talk and belittle customers shopping there. You will be verbally harassed if you shop at this location. they keep people employed that will scream and curse at you at this location. save your money and experience and more pleasant thrift store nearby at the goodwill (prices are the same!!) My family and I come to this thrift store regularly and we overheard a few workers talking about customers negatively to where customers could hear them. It seemed very unprofessional especially since we come here a lot and the store just got an award for being the best thrift store. We have never really had a bad experience with any of the workers until now and hope they are able to self reflect and not judge others or if there is ever a problem with a costumer they should say it to them rather than gossip. Avoid this store at all costs!!! I was there today, Mothers Day, to have some "me" time and pick out some "new to me" Summer clothes. I got there aroun 10:30-ish and walked into the store, got a shopping cart, and began picking out some shorts and skorts and placing them in my cart. I had ben there about 15 minutes or so when 2 employees came out of the back, heading towards the front of the store, laughing and chatting together. No problem, I glanced up, smiled and went back to browsing the rack. That's when all HELL broke lose!!! Both girls looked at me and started screaming at me, that I wasn't supposed to be in there and that I needed to leave right now! That i can't be in there, to get out now!!! I honestly no idea what was going on!! I was shocked by the severaty of their verbal attack!!! I asked them what did I do? And they screamed at me that I needed to leave right now! because the store wasn't open yet and to get out! I said sorry, the door was open so, I didn't know they were closed. The blackgirl started yelling at me, asking why i didn't see the sign on the door? Was i blind or just dumb? She screamed that the sign is on the door for a reason! I told her, while pointing to the doof, there wasn't a sign. She sait wgat, you don't see that great big open sign above the door that ain't on? What are you, blind?? Or, what about this sign down here? You know, this one that lists our hours??? It says we don't open till 11! Now, you need to leave!!! The whitegirl that was with her started yelling at me as well that, i should have seen the hours and the big, turned off, open sign above the door and NOT even come in!! I again tried telling them that the door was unlocked and, if they were closed, it should have been LOCKED. They both started screaming that they left it unlocked so other employees could get in. Whatever I went outside to wait the 3 minutes before 11:00. Other customers had wittnessed and heard the interaction so, while waiting for the now locked door to reopen, we were talking about hor disrespectful and rude these two employees were being. One of the customer's was telling everyone about how the while girl was rude and disrespectful to her the other day as well. Most of the other customers were sharing stories about how they too, had been mistreated there by emoloyees as well. I would like to say his was the end I f it but, unfortunately it isn't. Apparently, these two girls were telling their side of the encounter to the black, male assistant manager, when he arrived, before opening the door. Needless to say, he had it out for me as soon as the doors were unlocked. I and another customer were talking as we entered the store. She very quietly aske me if the two employees standing with the black man were the girls from earlier? I quickly glanced over my shoulder and back to the woman and acknowledged that, yes, those were them. As she said she was staying away from them, the black, male, assistant manager started screaming at me to not be pointing at his employees!! He already knew what happened and he wanted me to leave now!! I told him that, I had said nothing to him or them and that, I was having a private conversation that did not have anything to do with him. He screamed that he didn't care, he heard their side of things and, he wanted me to leave now!!! I feel that this store is NOT a customer friendly store. The employees arw rude and disrespectable. Management does NOT do a professional job and the employees aren't properly trained in customer service OR proper safely procedures. None of this days events would have taken place IF the employees had been following proper safety protocols. If a business isn't open for customers, at NO time should the doors be left unlocked and the floor unattended. I was inside the store for 15 minutes before any employee knew I was there!! They knew THEY messed up!! Rather than politely asking me to wait outside until 11:00, they chose to ASSAULT me and lie to the ASSistant manager. I feel the two employees manipulated the assistant manager to single me out. The assistant manager, if he had concerns, should have asked me to tell my side of the events, in the privacy of an office, instead of singling me out and verbally assaulting me like he did. This isn't over as, I am conacting the store MANAGER and CORPORATE tomorrow morning. No customer should be treated like this because of THEIR breach of safety protocol. Who looks at the hours of opperation until AFTER you have pulled the door and it not open!!! read more

This is very true. Your male employee behind the counter told me that I had to purchase a used mask in order to come into the store. I also called up after this happened and spoke with Kimberly the manager. If you don't believe me feel free to look at the tapes from Saturday morning. I came in with my son and daughter. I'm also happy to give you an exact time. I walked in and asked for a mask from the man standing behind the front counter. That's when he replied, "with you have buy a used one on the end cap"and I told your staff,"that was gross"and he returned with a comment that, " if I don't come prepared then I have to buy a used mask."I saw the masks (they were cloth) and they were used hanging on an end cap (not in a box). Hardcore thrifter here, and I admit I've been torn about writing a review of this one because I feel intense, selfish love for it. It's an amazing store - huge, organized, cheap, and freshly stocked at all times. I have spent hours happily plucking great finds. Today I loaded my loot onto the counter and was told if I sign up to receive texts, all of the clothing would be half off. What?! Vintage items, designer items, quirky stuff - half off the already low, low prices. I'm pretty sure I skipped out of the store. Happy hunting! read more

As far as a clothing thrift store, not many places get much better than this. The isles were nicely organized, the building was clean and the prices were well beyond reasonable. My husband kept looking at the price tags, wondering how they could possibly stay in business. For everything else - well, there are better places. There was virtually no furniture, and few other items besides clothes. That said, I would definitely return if I were in the mood for thrift shopping for clothes. I would be more inclined to return sooner if the clothes were organized by size. read more

I used to love this thrift store but the prices are ridiculously high now. I see stuff tagged at $9.99 and above on plenty of items that used to be no more than $3 to $5. This is a thrift store with donated clothes and it feels like they're trying to rip people off at what they're charging. And half the time, the clothes are stained or have holes ripped in them. I don't know what "competitors" the business manager is referring to in the other review comment, but no normal thrift store charges $10+ for a used shirt. So disappointing as this used to be my favorite spot. read more

Seemed like just your average thrift store. I was looking for bric a brac, and other used goods which are mostly around the perimeter of the store. In the middle, you'll find mostly clothing. Not sure if the clothing is any good, but I just didn't find anything during my visit. read more

Check in and make sure to receive their offer for "$1 off when you buy $5". They have a great selection of clothing; they have changed color tags daily for deals like half off items. Also make sure you sign up for their texting club as well; because you'll get new notifications for when they have NEW half off on clothing/home good items (that's always a win). Plus they have an email club too; which once you are signed up you can receive up to 50% off on variety of items in the long run. So all the reward systems they have are great for customers, that they keep the customers coming back for more! I always find so many items with new tags still on them and also find expensive name brand too; i.e. Adidas, BCBG, Calvin Klein, Urban Outfit (which is my favorite find), Michael Kors, and many more! So much to look at in this store and their shop updates on a daily basis! As always with thrift stores make sure you check out each item you're about to buy for flaws like rips/stains/holes/etc. because all sales are final, FYI. This is one of my favorite thrift stores to shop at in the St. Pete location!
