If i could give Plato's less than 1 star i would. The absolute worst place to try and sell your clothes. They clearly don't appreciate nice styles nor do they have a sense of style. On 9/27 two Patagonia jackets were posted to their Instagram with the caption "Both of these beauties will be available in store Tuesday (9/29) at 10am! No holds." To get these jackets or even just one of them my sister missed school and got in line at 9:45am just to find out employees had purchased them- with no update whatsoever on their social media. The employees working at the time (Katie) said that employees get first priority, which is understandable! However, I find this hard to believe and a bit ridiculous in this scenario considering the items were posted on Instagram with a specific time of when they would be available, encouraging shoppers to get there early for them. Had they never posted the jackets or even just posted an update that they had been sold to employees my sister would not have missed school to wait for them. So disappointing and on top of that let down the employees in the store were extremely rude and unapologetic. Extra disappointing since our whole family are extremely loyal customers to this Plato's and all the others. If you ever want to get in line for something just know when you go out of your way to get there it'll probably be gone thanks to the lack of communication and concern for customers. read more

Love going to Platos to sell old clothes I don't wear anymore and they have bought many times from me and offering decent money. This store is huge with a great variety of clothes !!! I feel like most is reasonably priced ! Lots of selection and sizes I could look for hours. The staff is friendly and will ask if they can start you a bin or fitting room so you don't have to lug tons of clothes around. Most clothes are in good conditions and up to date. Also lots of name brands and hidden treasures of you take time to look. Trying selling old clothes in there too ! The punch cards are nice when you get all stamps it's 20% off your total purchase ! read more

Great store for budget buyers. Staff is friendly, and you can find current styles (and brand names) at ridiculously low prices. Example: I found a NWT JCrew sweater ($88 tag) for $14. They are justified in being very picky about what clothes they'll buy from you because their target market are primarily teens (nobody wanted my NWT Jealous Tomato batwing dress, or my barely worn LOFT business dress). We might love our clothes, but that doesn't mean other people will want them. I agree that at 34, I may almost be too old to shop here, but if you're a kid with a $20, come and check this place out. read more

Although I live in Southern California, I visit relatives near Lone Tree often. I always include a visit to Platos Closet. The store is geared toward the younger crowd, but I never fail to walk out of there with an armful.......even being a well-established senior!!! You can't beat their selection and their prices. I take my teenage grandkids and they have a ball! If you're near Park Meadows, you've got to at least stop by and take a look....you'll be surprised! read more

Soooo went here to sell some higher end dresses that I have had for a little while (none more than 3 years old) in addition to a couple that are fairly new (like within the last year). I was told the styles are too old or that they just didn't like them. After walking through the aisles of the crap they accept, are you kidding me?! We stopped in while visiting our son from out of state. We were very happy with our experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and told about the sales going on. As we looked around we were asked by 2 different associates if we needed help. There were a ton of great clothes to browse. We found several cute items for my daughter. We could have shopped for hours! We will definitely be back when we are back in town! Huge location, they have a very wide range of clothes. However store cleanliness is really disgusting. I can smell mildew (like wet used towels) all throughout the store, and it gets worse by the men shoes. I saw a large hoodie I wanted to try on and halfway down my head the stink was so bad I just gave up. Maybe the mildew had permeated the clothes right below? Or is there a leaky roof that's causing the entire store and clothes to smell? The dressing rooms are the same way, not sure when was the last time the floors were mopped or disinfected.. because people have smelly feet it's natural! And some have athletes foot with is a fungus. I worked at retail stores and I know It's a rule to disinfect regularly. Selling clothes- I dropped off 1 large box of clothes here and left my number so I can receive a text when they were done sorting through. They said it would be done in about 40 minutes, but after 2 hours I was still waiting and decided to head back. My box had been ready for over an hour and a half. They said they couldn't take any of my things (I had brand new True Religion, A&F JCrew H&M sweaters, Vince sweaters). Although I was a bit surprised that none of my items were good enough, I left. I got home and realized they hadn't touched the box at all. Only the first layer was unfolded, everything else was as I had packed it, I have a unique fold I do, and in the exact order. This isn't the first time this has happened, but I wanted to leave a review this time since I had much more stuff to sell. Save yourself the time and effort, because these girls here do not thoroughly look at all the clothes. read more

When online shopping I noticed there were some great Adidas workout pants. I purchased them quickly and went the next day to pick up my order via curbside pick up. To my dismay there were price tags from Ross on them. I would not have bought them if there was a note made in the description online that they were from Ross. The reason this is important is because the quality of clothes is very poor from that store and Plato's closet is known to be particular with brands and great quality. I believe it's important to let customers know what to expect when purchasing a product from Plato's. As expected, when I put the pants on it was see-through like fabric and poor construction. I used to work at Ross and I've seen enough to know to avoid their stuff. The idea of slapping on a brand logo onto cheap material is awful and this kind of scam can be stopped if Plato's closet could mention if a certain item is from there, especially if they have the tags still! read more

These reviews crack me up, Platos closet is a store geared toward young adults so of course they are going to decline your professional style clothes because be honest and tell me the last time you saw a 16-20 year old wearing a button up and slacks if they don't have to. Also they are a RESALE store that is competitively priced so if they price a shirt at $12 how are they going to buy it from you for more than $4-6 and still make money? The staff is incredibly helpful and nice and it is competitively priced. And selling a shirt for $4 is more than you will get donating it. read more

I have been to Plato's Closet on a few occasions and what I observed was an inconsistent and discriminatory process they use to appraise clothing. First, I think they make judgments about your clothing based on your physical appearance. For example, if you are black, before they even look at your clothes, the rep has already made a decision that the type of clothes you wear will not sell in their store. In other words, if you dress in clothes that look like you are a fan of the hip hop culture walking in the door, the subconscious judgement is that your clothes are too urban and won't sell in Highlands Ranch. Lol. I'm a working professional, the clothes I buy are all high quality, as I use them for work. I've taken a lot of clothes into this store. The first time I went a lady took some of my worst stuff and didn't need any of the higher quality stuff. I took the same stuff that was denied on another day, and a guy helped me and everything sold! I made about $140. The stuff they kept first time were cheap shirts I bought from TJ MAXX for $10 or so. I went into Plato's Closet and saw those cheap shirts I sold back on the shelf for more than I paid at TJ MAXX lol. They denied close to new Silver Jeans, polo shirts, north face, Nike shoes all in great condition the first time. Second time, bought them all lol. And I can tell you, I looked through the store and I couldn't find any of the high quality shoes, jeans, north face jackets I sold. That means someone bought it all...quickly . Which brings me to my most recent experience. I took a bag full of high quality jeans, shirts, shoes a few days ago. Every piece got denied lol! And I'm pretty sure the rep didn't even take the clothes out of the bag, everything was folded exactly how I had it. Yet she automatically made a judgement that my stuff wouldn't sell lol. And I think she made that judgement the second I walked in the door because of my skin color. She appraised it in about 10-15 minutes. Then had the audacity to tell me my stuff was basically garbage, saying it was all from 2011 and telling me to take it to "Uptown Cheapskate" to try there. Hahahaha! The second I saw how she looked at me when I walked in the door, I knew exactly what was going to happen. And I was right lol . While waiting for my stuff to be appraised, I looked very closely at all the stuff they had. And I saw a lot of the low quality clothes I sold still on the shelves! Yet, they are denying good quality clothing? I just laughed to myself. The stuff I brought was better than anything they had there. I wouldn't buy any of their clothes, haven't any of the times I've been there. Their men's shoes are the worst! I brought shoes that I only wore 2-3 times I know would sell right away. I will never do business there again because of their inconsistent, discriminatory practices and process they use to appraise clothes. Don't get ripped off by this place!!! read more

My first time at this location today & I will never be back. I came here on my lunch break, & was greeted by a nice young lady at the front. Then as I am looking around I am greeted by a lady named Julia. I told her I was just looking. Literally, she followed me around the whole store asking to put my things in the fitting room, which was fine.. but I was just starting to look around. She walked behind me the entire time I shopped. Uh they are so rude. I came in for them to sell some of my clothing and at first they seemed friendly. I decided to walk around the store while they go through my clothing (to make sure they would take anything cause you never know), and I heard the girls laughing in the front so I went to look at what was so funny, they were laughing at the size of my clothing. I understand I am short but it is completely unprofessional and extremely rude. After trying to pretend that I didn't see them laughing at my clothing I want to see what they picked out. They picked about five shirts (which is fine), but told me they could only give me $20 for all of them, when one of those shirts cost $20 alone! And not to mention they were practically new and had hardly been worn, they were in perfect condition. I can safely say I will never be coming here again. Came in with a bag full of clothes I paid $60 each from j crew and they said they'd rather have zumiez or pac-sun labels. I guess their demographic is cheap. Got $40 for a pair of brand new vans in box, brand new Levi jeans with tag, brand new nike running shorts, a Nike windbreaker I paid $200 for 3 years ago, and a couple misc. button ups. Really interesting buying process, made me wait 2 hours to get my price they'd give me and I should have just sold the shit on Craigslist. Never sell there. I always like to go to different Plato's Closets but wasn't too impressed with this one. One of the employees was so loud while singing and talking to his co-workers. Also, I didn't understand why there wasn't a bench or chair in the fitting room to set my purse or personal clothes on. On a positive note. Horrible customer service. Plan and simple don't go here to take your clothes! They will lie about going through your bags. They won't call you and have you wondering around the store aimlessly for over an hour Bc the employees were too busy trying on clothes behind the cashiers desk to worry about customers. They never went through my bags, then lied stating they did! Stating nothing out of my two bags or box was what they were looking for. Little do they know, I was watching THE ENTIRE TIME! They went through my bottom of the box, BUT NEVER OPENED TWO BAGS FULL OF CLOTHES! (The bags were still tied and the clothes were in the same spot piled on top never moved) So I went down the street to the S Colorado blvd and the sweet employees ACTUALLY did their job and went through each and every item getting back $60 less than an hour! Never again will I sell my clothes here. I brought in hardly worn designer shorts and jeans and they wouldn't take any of it claiming that the shorts were too old (I bought them in 2014). They denied my jeans because they had never heard of the designer (hudson) and then proceeded to tell me that mossimo and forever 21 were brands they usually take. The staff was decently nice but the level of pickyness is out of control. I ended up taking my clothes to uptown cheapskate, which is just a short drive up the road, and they were super nice, offered me more for my clothes than platos closet ever has, and the store was much cleaner and more up beat. read more

My experience in this store was not the greatest. I have been to this location one time before where they bought every single item I brought in and I got around $70 for it. My last visit they took the same amount of items and offered less than half. I understand the items were different and there could be a difference in value but to get that much lower for similar items seems weird. I have been going to Plato's for years and have never received less than $50 at a time. I would recommend the Littleton location by all means. One thing I will give the Lone Tree store credit for is they were exactly on the time they said it would be, which you do not get at every store. :) read more

I went into Plato's a few days back and thought was a good place to go and find clothes that I could buy at the mall but way cheaper. I don't have the money to go and buy $100+ on jeans but there I could buy a pair of nice big stars (looked brand new) for only $40. My girlfriend brought in some clothes, they couldn't buy all of it, only a few things. At first I was annoyed but then they told us they were really overstocked and were being really selective. If you look around, you understand what they mean. The girl behind the counter was really nice about it and helped me and my girlfriend bring our stuff back to our car. I like this place and I know my girlfriend loves it, so will be back. read more

I took over 200 clothing items to this place to sell, all of my items being designer brand and in extremely good condition. Wanna know what they bought? NOTHING. The girl helping me was awful, extremely rude, and should be fired. I have no idea how she got the job in the first place. She had purple hair, purple lipstick wore all dark clothing (I think she was trying to be a goth) and talked as if everything were boring her to death. I normally expect to be greeted nicely when I walk into a store, and maybe get asked if I need help with anything. But no, not in this case. If you're even thinking about getting any money out of your old clothes here, don't waste your time. There are plenty of other consignment stores that actually take the time to look through your items and asses what they're worth. The girl working told me they didn't buy anything of mine because all my items were "too professional, and the usual wear and tear (which is what they always say)".
