First off, I would just like to say that the owner Tina and her staff did an amazing job with the expansion.

I was on the hunt for a piece of jewelry and a vintage/art deco pieces in particular. I was…read morerecommended this place, so I checked them out on Yelp and their website. After checking them out online, I was very excited to see what they had to offer. However, when I got there, I was quickly disappointed. There was only one employee who was busy appraising jewelry for a customer. This would not have been a problem, but it honestly seemed very unwelcoming how completely we were ignored. A simple "Welcome to our store. If you need anything I can help you momentarily" is nice, but I am not the type of person that gets huffy if I don't get greeted, but I was completely invisible for at least 5+ minutes while we waited by the display we were interested in trying to make eye contact from 5 feet away. I guess he realized we weren't going to leave, because he decided to help us. I was finally able to try on some pieces, but the lighting in there was so poor (unlike traditional jewelry stores that are very well lit) that I really had a hard time seeing the pieces I was trying on. I know vintage pieces were designed to be viewed in candlelight, but that's not the case anymore, and it would be nice to clearly see what I am planning on purchasing. Also, everything looked really nice online and had ratings of VS2+, yet in the poor lighting, there appeared to be significant flaws in the diamonds that were visible to the naked eye. To me, a lot of the pieces looked like they had taken a beating. Besides being a cold experience, at one point, while we were looking at one tray of rings, the guy pointed out that one was missing so he would know not to assume we stole something. What?!? Besides the fact that I apparently look like a jewel thief, are you going to seriously say that to a customer?? Maybe Pamela is what makes this store slightly friendly (she was not in this day) but the employee she had working there last Saturday, left me still hunting, thoroughly disappointed, and slightly insulted.

Nice place. Lots of jewelry, but some other cool stuff too, like a sword, some ceramic figures,…read moreand a lot of classy antiques all behind some glass so you have to ask to see them. Most of the jewelry is past the $200 range (they do sell fine jewelry after all) but they have some under $100 stuff too. There is a mix of old and new jewelry, and they are a full service jewelry shop, so you can go in and get things polished. I got a cute sterling silver green ring from the 30s there for only $30. Pretty good deal.

The store is full of eclectic and vibrant decor that will speak to the hearts of artists everywhere, ranging from clothing, to furniture, to toys and museum quality gifts. It has a variety of quirky finds that I've never seen before. The intention here is almost like a local gallery exalting each stunning piece of art, no matter how small. The pieces ranged from the very tiny porcelain dog, which was about the size of your thumb, to the very large bears, that were furry and taller than me. Colorful, diverse art dotted the walls and were displayed in all different living room themes for all different tastes and styles of home. This was a clever idea. You could picture the decor in your own home. "Buy local" is the intention here and deteriorating properties were bought up by the owner and given a stunning facelift to elevate the community. This was a closed down roller rink. There was also a cinema next door that turned to a gift shop and off beat eatery. The unique history of each is preserved in the original artifacts throughout. Being that this is art focused and unique, don't have the expectation of Walmart prices. Of course you're getting one-of-a-kind quality pieces that will make your heart sing when you see your selected art displayed proudly in your home. Leon & Lulu also will give you a discount for your birthday if you share that information. If you're in Ferndale, Clawson or Detroit, put this store on your must visit list.

If you're looking for something unique, funny, fun, or more of a traditional purchase then this place is for you. We were able to purchase some very cool gifts for friends and family that were tailored to their personality. The shop's staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed them and they were also pretty available when we needed someone even though they were a bit busy. As for the prices I would put them on par for a place that sells the selection that this place has. You can find some items that are cheaper (not cheaply made), and other items that are pretty high (saw a pillow for around $300 ). I will definitely be putting this place on my list of shops to go for the next time I need to shop for friends and family!

I'm leaving a 1 star rating which I'll go through fully and explain my reasoning as to such…read more The neighborhood house clothes closet. This is now a former shell of what it use to be. For context I've been going here since I was a baby, now I'm currently a adult as we speak. When I was a child the staff there use to be extremely kind and greeted people, for clients such as what I and my parents fell under we were able to gain stuff to help us immensely due to low wages. Such as every month you can come in get 3 tops, 3 bottoms, a jacket or winter coat, a blanket/sheets every 6 months, socks, underwear, bra, shoes every 3 months. The staff there would even point out stuff to people there whenever they would have good items such as clothing or furniture, Because the clothes closet was intented for people not making enough money to get clothes on their back, and necessities. Not to mention everything they get is **donated** not sold to them it's given. They didn't have it open to the public originally due to it was connected to neighborhood house, however slowly they started to implement cost if clients wanted extra clothing however at highest something would cost was $5 at most and that's if it was furniture, and slowly was open to the public after years. But ever since they got new management they have become a former shell of what the use to be, now they're using their donations given to them to make a quick buck and it disgusts me. Clients now can only go 6 months out of the year when 2 years prior they could go every month because it was intended for families who make less money. You can only get a winter jacket and light jacket once every 2 years (so if you have growing children good luck keeping them warm) and same thing for bedding. Next they now have become full on money goblins, everything they have is given/donated to them and they are taking those donations and selling them for ridiculously high prices raging as high as $100. In fact they are even putting aside items for resellers to buy off them before anyone else can get to them which I overheard the visit I had today. Furthermore they now have implemented tables/racks that clients cannot even get items off them for free like this was intended for selling purses as high as 20-60 dollars. And due to them now trying to make a quick buck their racks are over filled to the brim with clothes to the point you can hardly move the clothing to see what's there in the racks at times, especially the coats it's absolutely ridiculous. And last their staff is extremely disrespectful. Everytime I try to great them I'm always met with a scoff or annoyed sigh, and they nit pick the clothing like it's coming out their own wallet. Overall I'm disgusted at the Neighborhood houseclothes closet it's a former shell of what it use to be and is now a money grab for resellers or outrageous prices. If you want to donate high valuable stuff to reach a family in need, don't do so here I'd suggest Facebook market place and putting it up for free for or gods helping hand if you want your donations to hit a family in need because they'll use your items here for a quick buck, and very limited for families who actually need it.

Excellent thrifting here! There are great finds every time I get to shop here! It's a great place…read moreto donate used clothing and decorative items. They support the Neighborhood House in supporting the people of the neighboring communities. The volunteers are so nice and helpful too!
