I just recently moved to the Wesley Chapel area. I have been slowly cleaning out my closet and needing a place to dump my old clothes. I've sold to Plato's closet before, and it can be very stressful to bring in all your clothes and to wait 2 to 3 hours for them to review them and then not sell anything. I love this location because I've brought boxes here a few times now and each time I bring to sell they complete the search within 30 minutes and they always select something to purchase so it's a really nice way to get some extra cash (don't expect a bucket load of cash though, but a few bucks is always nice!) read more

This location has been open since 2014. It is located just a few businesses down from Publix. It is open 10 AM to 9 PM Mon thru Fri; Sat 9 AM to 9 PM; & 10 AM to 8 PM on Sundays. This is a chain store that buys and sells gently used clothing for teens, misses, women, men, & plus sized individuals, as well as footwear; handbags; & accessories. Its webpage advertises Plato's Closet as a business whose clients are in their "teens and twenties;" however, many of the clothing styles represented today could be worn by women & men of any age. Shoppers can save up to 70% off retail prices. Overall, prices were lower than I expected, but I did find some items of clothing that were definitely overpriced considering they were pre-owned. This is a BAGLESS store, so come prepared! Customers have 7 days to return any items, but the tags must still be intact & accompany the original store receipt. Should you wish to earn extra money by selling your gently worn clothing, etc, BUYING HOURS are 10 AM to 8 PM Mon thru Fri; Sat 9 AM to 8 PM; & Sun 10 AM to 7 PM. Plato's Closet buys & sells Women's tops in size XS to 6x & bottoms size 00 to 30. For men, staff will buy size XS to 4x in tops & size 28 to 40 in bottoms. (I had to retrieve at least 3 tops from the floor.) There are approximately 7 dressing rooms. Just outside each are metal folding chairs, a clothing return rack, & a bin for shoe returns-- SEE PICS. During today's visit, one young staff member was very friendly & wore a huge smile. The shift leader, though, never smiled & lacked a warm & fuzzy personality that often helps attract return visits. According to Plato's website, the company is hiring for full-time & part-time positions. Upload your resume online. Before I drove off to donate my big bag of clothing to Salvation Army, I left the store w/ 3 never worn items of clothing priced $3 to $10 that this 50-yr-old (non-teen & non-twenty-something) plans to Rock! This review is based purely on the service or lack thereof. My wife and I went into the store to look for a dress shirt. Unfortunately, they didn't have any and that's ok. However, once we entered, we saw at least 3 employees there. They all looked at us when we walked in and said nothing to us, no greeting or hello. No smiles. Barely any acknowledgement. I don't know if they are happy with their jobs or having a bad day. But when you are working in any type of business, be it retail, commercial, even a Corporate setting, one should be a professional and acknowledge the people who support that business. Simply put, paying customers keep that business open and providing the employees financial support. If the owners or bosses are bad people, then I can understand. However, this is something that I don't know about when I came into Plato's yesterday. So, thumbs down on this store in Wesley Chapel. read more

Workers were great and super nice, however I waited an hour for them to go through all my clothes just to be told that i need to come back in a couple of weeks bc their inventory is too full. I won't be returning because that should have been told to me when i first walked in, my time was wasted and im extremely disappointed. Went there yesterday my first time and brought some clothes. They did not tell you they picked to your clothes and get the one they liked and gave you the rest. They took 4 items brand name and almost new and pay me less than what I paid for one clothes. Not worth of my time driving all the way there. Honestly, don't even bother attempting to bring your clothes here in hopes that y'all receive money in exchange. You can bring brand new clothes, shoes, and designer purses and they will always have the excuse that due to their inventory, they will not buy even if it is some thing they are in need of. Also, don't even bother buying from this location either because all their clothes are run down faded, and bland. I don't understand their method of running however, it doesn't make sense when you can go in with bags of brand new clothes. You are better off either selling online through Facebook marketplace or Poshmark and receiving better luck. read more

i loved this place!! There were super trendy styles and brands and at low cost! This place is a great alternative to fast fashion brands such as Shein. It's a great place to buy gently used clothes, and the workers at this location weren't rude like at other locations lol. They were super helpful and kind! There aren't many safety measures for covid though so bring a mask and keep distance! read more

Very disappointed in the Wesley Chapel location of Plato's Closet. Had been buying and selling to this location since they first opened quite a few years ago. No more! In the last couple of years, I've noticed a revolving door of employees and managers who lack even rudimentary customer service skills. They might get by with interacting with teenaged girls, but I've noticed when it comes to adults transactions, they seem to almost give off an "I'd-rather-you-just-go-away" air, and I've also found a level of dishonesty. Do yourself a favor and visit the Tampa Plato's location for buying/selling items. I've always found them to be fair in price and very welcoming. Unlike the Wesley Chapel location, the Tampa Plato's actually seem grateful for my business, and not like they're doing me a favor by just letting me suck the oxygen in the room. read more

The only times I come into Plato's closet is when they have their clearance sale. Yea, that's it. Without their sale, I would've given them a one star. So I will break down this review into two sections: Clearance sale: So as I said before, the only time I come in is when there is their sale. It usually happens around the end of the year and another one around the end of summer-ish time. The sale starts off at 50% and can get up to 70% as well (rumor has it there is a 90% off sale which I can't remember if I took part of last time but honestly at that point, there aren't going to be any clothing left to score big). If you follow their instagram page they will have announcements for the sale. So anyway, when they're having this event you can find a lot of brand name things for a decent price. I just went into this location today and walked out with a zara maxi dress for $6. Not bad. The best thing I ever found there was a Banana Republic dress for $1 and this was during one of their clearance sales. Be prepared to sift through and don't even bother with looking at the clearance shoes. They toss all of them in a bind and you have to look through all of them and once you found a shoe, you gotta dig for the pair. Not. worth it. Selling clothes: As for selling clothes, don't get your hopes up. I've gone to this place for years to try and get some quick cash and the most I have ever gotten was $30 which (imo) was not worth for the items they took. Seeing as I only go here for their clearance sale I figured I could empty my closet and test my luck on selling. Note: this place seems to take in styles catered towards young teens in the 13-18 range. Many of their items come from fast fashion stores from the mall. If your clothing looks like its been worn and washed once, they're probably not going to take it. When I tried to sell some of my clothes today, I had things with tags still on them. There was even a VS sports bra in there valued at $50 and they didn't want it. Summary: go there for their clearance and don't get your hopes up if you're trying to sell your items. If you wanna sell, sell things such as floral patterns, things from Abercrombie/Hollister/A&E, or stuff with tags. Note: they take swimsuits, perfumes/makeup, bralettes (no pajamas or underwear), earrings etc. read more

I'm just posting this to help anyone who might want to sell their clothes there get an idea of what they'll give you. I didn't know they don't buy expensive clothes. They just want like... They didn't take everything I had brought in because of them being off season. I was pleased with the offer they gave me and I am off to donate the rest. I don't understand how they decide what they will buy and not buy. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. I have brought bags of clothes in that were in great, like new or new clothes and shoes that are current styles and they did not purchase any of them. They say they only accept gently worn clothes but Many of the clothes for sale in the store are in very worn condition, some even with holes and stains. When they do buy clothes, you only get a couple of dollars a piece. I think you are better off going to the thrift store and getting second hand clothes for half the price, brand names included. read more

As you probably know, Plato's closet is a clothing store that buys and sells "gently used" trendy clothes for the teen/young adult market. I have both bought and sold my clothes here, with mixed success. They have a huge selection of clothing - from dresses to jeans to shoes and purses. Most of the sizes run pretty small as they are juniors items, so I don't buy too much. BUT they do have copious amounts of shoes in my size and on occasion I'll find a cute dress or shirt. As for selling your items, Plato's Closet dominates the market simply because unlike consignment stores, they don't have to sell your item to give you cash. A quick 15 minute wait while they look over your stuff, and you're out with a little chunk of change. However they're pretty picky about what they accept, so don't expect everything you offer to be taken. I usually follow my trip to PC with a trip to Goodwill to drop off what they didn't buy. Also, what once cost you $100 will get you about $10 or less here. But it's better than nothing, right? This particular location has excellent customer service and the girls are super friendly. So even if I don't make a lot of money or find a great steal, I still have a positive experience. read more

First time trying to sell there today. The girl was super nice and told me my items would be looked at with in the next 25 minutes. I told her I would run some errands and come back. I returned about an hour later they were completely done and she informed me that they would not take any of my items because they were either too formal or overstocked in my items. I'm not upset about them not taking items. I am confused. I work in a high school and know what teens wear. I brought about 17-20 summer dresses from Express, Old Navy, banana republic, high end boutiques, Dillard's, etc. I had about 15 pair of 3" inseam shorts from Express, athletic gear such as shorts, running tops, tights (all Nike), a bag full of shoes, and about 4-5 wallets and purses. As I was loading my car, 3 teenage girls saw what I was putting in and asked me to look through my items. I said sure. They bought 6 dresses, 2 wallets and all of my shorts. I get that they cater to teens. But if you know teens as well as I do they would like to shop at higher in stores but can't afford it. Plato's seems to only want to buy cheaply made products that kids can afford in stores that they shop at. Higher end items would sell if they would buy them. The girls gave me $8 per dress and $5 per pair of shorts. I probably did better with them than in the store anyway. read more

I have sold my clothes to this location several times, but I do not shop there! The staff is always rude (inattentive, entitled teenagers) and the store feels dirty. There are cameras that face the mirrors in the dressing rooms... creepy. First off, I've come here several times & I usually sell items, but they barely want to give you 2$ for a name brand item. So I decided to actually walk around the store & look, every romper was 12$ USED! You can get a brand new one at forever 21 for the same price or even cheaper. I called before I went to make sure I didn't show up right before they would close. Lady told me on the phone that they close at 9pm and take stuff IN till 8pm So I came at 7PM on the dot. Since I walked in the two girls at the register gave me attitude and ignored me and didn't come up to me till 5 minutes later. I brought a bag with three pairs of adidas shoes barely worn and I had cleaned them before I brought them. Lady takes the bag and I go browse around the store till they call me back. I LITERALLY get called back 2 minutes after she took my bag and says to me that they aren't able to take any of my stuff back. I grab my bag and leave. After not coming here for a year, I tried again a week ago. I brought 10 pairs of either never worn, or worn once American Eagle jeans, as well as shirts & hoodies that had the tags still on them (a baby happened, so yeah)... anyway, they took two pairs of jeans and gave me $8. Yes, EIGHT dollars for 2 brand new pairs of $60 jeans. And the rest were "well loved." This is how you know everyone here is an idiot, THEY STILL HAD THE TAGS ON THEM. This place needs to close, and I'm sure they will eventually as they have a bunch of idiotic, rude teenagers running it & rip everyone who walks through the door off. read more

This location is right across from Wiregrass Mall in the Publix shopping center and it is better than any other Plato's Closet I have ever been to. Why? Probably has to do with the more affluent neighborhoods around and the teenagers who can only wear their clothes 2 or 3 times before them considering it to be out of style. I love the clearance sales that they have more than any other store. Sometimes you can find items for $1! Even when they have things for half off it's a steal. They are selective about what they accept from sellers and don't take items that are ripped, faded or without a name brand. You'll find a lot of American Eagle, Hollister, Target, American Rag and other quality brands here. Recently, I stopped by for the 'summer' clearance event (we live in Florida and summer doesn't end until November!). I got a sundress, a Victoria's Secret Pink Bucs shirt and a Lulu handbag with the tag still on it for $15 total. It's worth a stop if you're shopping in the area. I wanted to review Plato's closet simply because I thought you should know about their generosity. About once a month, when they have a bunch of leftover clothes, and I'm talking like bags and bags and bags full, they donate them to the 181 loft ministry. This is a boutique for girls in the foster care system, who are given an opportunity to "shop" in a boutique type setting, choose whatever they like, and pay nothing. They are pampered and treated like queens for the day. Idlewild Baptist church sponsors this monthly event. A big "thank you" to Plato's closet for donating so much! read more

The reason why I gave the store two stars instead of one is because I had a really cute pair of Nikes for a reasonable price. Other than that a lot of the clothes are outdated. My biggest problem with this place is the staff. The guy that was behind the checkout told me he would write my name on the board when he was done, I waited for about 40 minutes, and I went up to ask if my stuff is ready and they ended up not buying any of it even though I had perfectly good shoes that have never been worn before. Also, he never let me know that my stuff wasn't ready even though I was clearly walking around the front of the store waiting to be called. He just sat there gossiping with the other employee... That put a really bad taste in my mouth. It's probably just fine to buy from there, but don't go sell clothes there. read more

I recently dropped in to exchange clothing I had purchased from various vendors like gap, old navy, Venus, Talbots's and NYNC. Out of the 25 items brought in they purchased 3 old tops I thought they'd surely overlook. Many of the clothes they had on the racks appeared old, outdated and over worn compared to the newer items I brought with tags still in tack. I was appalled that they would overlook stylish blouses, dresses and jeans. They told me my items were in great condition and they could tell they were new, but unfortunately they wouldn't sale in there store. Extremely disappointing. From the looks of the current in store options, I was confident my items would have sold. I guess I need to bring in old frayed clothes with little style. Visited here for the first time ever. Big shop with plenty of selection all at reasonable prices. Scored 2 cute tops for a bargain at $7 each. Got an Abercrombie and Fitch sweatshirt for $18 and a Hollister sweatshirt for the same price. Although they claimed a lot of things were on sale not one of my pieces were. The 2 girls Courtney and layla/lisa(?) were not giving me the time of day and would shoo off my questions. It took me over 30 minutes to get a fitting room and they lost my items when I had them in a bin. I am extremely disappointed with this location. The first time I came here multiple years ago they took quite a bit of my clothes. A few months ago I drove an hour to come here and after waiting hours they told me "we cannot take anything because of inventory". I waited 2 months to bring my clothes back and called before I came asking if they are taking clothes because last time they told me they weren't taking anything and didn't want to drive there for nothing and the guy said they were. So I drove the hour there and waited again approximately 2 hours, got the text that everything was ready, and received the same line of "we can't take anything because of inventory". Why did your coworker say an hour before I came here that you were? Both times my bags have looked untouched. If you're not accepting clothes why are you checking me in and making me wait 2 hours? I just think these employees are lazy and don't want to look through clothes. Do yourself a favor and avoid the Wesley Chapel location. read more
