This review is a long time coming due to the recovery I had to go through because of the negligence of Dr. Platzer. I went to Dr. Platzer because I was having diplopia, double vision and severe pain around my left eye. She was convinced it was migraines, even though I told her I never had a history of migraines in my 50 something years of life. I was concerned that I had a brain aneurysm and she said that she was certain this was migraines and would not order an MRA for me. As the pain and the vision loss progressed through months of agony, many calls to her crying and begging for help,, and eventually being told that maybe I just didn't want to get better, because if I did then the medications she prescribed me would have worked, I decided to go out of Insurance and see a private Dr who ordered the MRA for me. My insurance denied it, and I needed to get my records from her to have further proof that this was ongoing. What I found in her records, I did not even recognize. She said I was taking medication's that I was not taking. She said that the pain was all over my head when I told her it was exclusively around my left eye. It was as if my notes were about a different patient. In all of that pain I had to actually go into the office to pick up the notes because they told me that they did not have a way to send them to me. When I emailed and asked her to please correct the notes and gave her line by line all of the items which were absolutely incorrect so that I could get the scan done. Her exact words were that I was nit picking. I had to pay out-of-pocket almost $4000 for my MRA and I had a very large posterior communicating artery aneurysm, which any neurologist should know causes diplopia and pain around the eye. The aneurysm was so scary that I was in surgery within hours of the results of my MRA coming in. shortly, after coming home from the hospital, I received a certified letter from her telling me that she was dropping me as a patient....As if I would ever Grace her doorstep again. I did send an email after finally getting home from 7 days in the hospital letting her know what her negligence had caused me. If you do have migraines, maybe this so-called doctor can help you, but if you are concerned that you have something more serious run the other direction. I had children in middle school and lost 18 months of my life to pain and suffering because of her negligence. read more

Front desk is rude. I was authorized for a neuro consult and the receptionist claimed that Dr. Platzer would only see me for headaches. I ask her to call my Primary Treating Physician for a corrected referral for a closed head concussion so she could properly addressed not onlt my headaches, but my dizziness, loss if balance, memory issues, etc. That rude lady wouldn't. It would only had taken her 5 minutes to call and get a corrected REFERRAL. She refused. read more

Called to make appointment as a new patient and the woman was unusually short and rude. Immediately, she said we don't take walk ins and I was on the phone so obviously not a walk in. She said we don't have any appts until march in a way to discourage me from scheduling. I told her that her tone was very rude and she said okay and hung up. Crazy experience and she did not have any compassion or desire to work. I hope the doctor reads this because if your schedule is barely booked she is the reason. I have been struggling with mysterious and increasingly severe neurological symptoms for 9 months. My regular doctor kept telling me it's nothing, just my thyroid. He kept saying he didn't think I had anything, nothing to worry about, etc. Went to the ER twice (6 months apart as my symptoms kept getting worse) and I was so mistreated and told I "just had anxiety". I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Platzer. She's brilliant and a gifted neurologist who is not afraid to take on even the most challenging cases. She's approachable, and does things old school -- she actually examines you herself. She is easy to talk to and never keeps you guessing or side steps your questions. Her office is on the first floor -- I had walking issues when I first saw her so that was a plus for me at the time. They validate parking and her office administrator is friendly and efficient. Dr Platzer is an amazing doctor. I have severe anxiety especially social and she makes me feel calm and special. I never have to wait in the waiting room for more than a few minutes which is rare for a doctors office. She knows her medications very well and has really helped me and my various medical conditions. There's a reason she's booked a month in advance, she's amazing. I won't go anywhere else ever for my chronic back pain, insomnia, Social anxiety and PTSD. She's comforting and truly has a good heart. Her overall knowledge is great, She has a great smile, she's very understanding and I really appreciate the level she treats her patients, she talks to them like family, as if she's known you for a while. I went in complaining about headaches, Dr. Platzer ordered me an MRI and Lab work, met with me in her office to discuss the lab work and MRI results and prescribed due medication along with free samples of migraine meds. My husband and I are so grateful for Dr. Platzer's help! She is very prompt, knowledgeable, and truly cares about her patients. We highly recommend her. My husband experienced traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a teenager 11 years ago that landed him in a coma for several weeks. He went through rigorous rehabilitation for about a month, and then all services suddenly stopped. He has persisting deficits with his attention and memory, but looks really great on the outside so many people just assume he is fine. He is a college student and needed help from a doctor to assess his cognitive skills and determine if he would be eligible for additional help through the disability resource center at his school. You would not believe how difficult it was to find a doctor that would help him! We went to multiple different neurologists in the San Fernando Valley and adjacent areas, and NOBODY would assist us. Most doctors said that they couldn't sign any forms for him or see him because "he wasn't in their care." We were beginning to lose hope, and then we found Dr. Platzer. She had no problem seeing my husband, and made both of us feel like she truly valued our time. She spent over an hour interviewing him and conducting multiple tests, including cognitive assessments and physical screenings (hearing, vision, etc.). She even told us that he should have qualified years ago for additional services that he did not know about, filled out forms to help him get help at school, and gave us numerous recommendations. We both were touched by how caring and generous she was with her time and knowledge. She is a very direct, no-nonsense type of doctor but still has a way of making her patients feel that she cares about them. We highly recommend her as a neurologist and are extremely thankful for her assistance. Side notes and tips for prospective patients: -Her office is on the first floor of the building that shares a parking lot with Roys/Flemings on Topanga Cyn Blvd. The office validates your parking for 1 hour. -Dr. Platzer honors your time as a patient, so please honor her time and show up early. She isn't like other doctors who make you wait an hour to see them. -Dr. Platzer is no nonsense and very direct. Do not expect hugs and fluffy bunnies. She also does not wear a white coat (which is refreshing). She really likes to help people that need assistance, but she also sees right through patients who try to lie to her. My husband and I had been to Dr. Platzer we both had different problems, my hub had Neralgia with chronic discomfort. I suffered from severe Insomnia which to me is so debilitating as my depression followed and both were in full bloom. Went to Dr. Platzer for help with neurological condition for which I had many symptoms, but despite all her many years of practice and my many visits, Dr. Platzer could not provide a clinical diagnosis. Dr. Platzer also did not order any diagnostic workup which could have provided confirmation/negation of the neurological condition. Despite my often and many complaints of living in constant pain, for which I was considering the final solution, Dr. Platzer offered me no palliatory care. Dr. Platzer complained that I was visiting other doctors (despite my condition which can be fatal), and furthermore, for this Dr. Platzer griped that I was depriving her "my bread and butter" when another physician would get payment for performing neurological testing she should have ordered well previously. 1 star for Dr. Platzer for helpfulness/knowledge for rude behavior, lack of even mentioning my condition as a possibility let alone a diagnosis, and for not providing me care for my constant pain. read more
