I made a profile on Yelp just to leave this review. This was the most shocking doctors visit... As soon as I sat down with him I started crying because of an incident that had happened, and this "professional doctor" mocked me, laughed at me, and made some harsh statements about me that had nothing to do with why I was visiting him. I went in there looking for answers and the whole appointment was him belittling me! He had nothing informative to say, he kept asking me what I know and that I need to do more research. I had done plenty of research but still had questions, thats why I was there. Worst experience. I left with no answers, and it was a waste of time. If I could give 0 stars I 100% would. I'm confused as to how people have given positive reviews on him. Also I don't understand why they book so many people in a time slot. That's great that he takes time with his patients( only positive thing I have to say about him) but they cram appointments and thats why you end up waiting hours. Dr Laura Record and her staffs have always been VERY welcoming. We rarely had such great experience with other doctors in the past. They were very nice to us consistently during every visit and were very playful with our kids. Dr Laura especially made things very easy and never rushed us; and kept her patience if in fact we rushed her! Without question, the finest Doctor I have had the pleasure of meeting after 20 years in LA. It should also be noted that most of those 20 years were spent being passed useless prescriptions and referrals by other 'reputable' Dr's all over the city. After two or three visits with Dr. Galpin actually listening and formulating a plan, my previous 'mysterious' issues were resolved and accurate diagnosis was finally given. I had been feeling almost guilty for bothering other doctors with my apparently illusive illness, but what a weight lifted when Dr. Galpin found and treated my illness properly! Be sure to schedule more time around your appointment as the doctor will see you and other patients for as long as you need to be seen and consulted... So if a patient before you needs a half an hour, they will get a half an hour. Any extra time spent in the lobby waiting has been more than trumped by the thousands of dollars spent and years wasted visiting Doctors of a lesser degree. So if the wait is long, I just remind myself of that and remember that there's someone in his room being TREATED. Dr. Galpin is an excellent physician. He diagnosed my son's condition after one visit. We had spent years going to pediatricians without any diagnosis of why he was sick for so long. Sometimes the wait can be up to two hours but you can call ahead to find out the wait time and plan accordingly. He is very thorough and spends sufficient time with each patient, as well as accepting emergencies, so the wait is justified. HIs staff is very friendly and very good at drawing blood. after completing the full 140.6 ironman along with 20 marathons and over 100 triathlons, being nationally ranked as an athlete i saw Dr. Galpin for a bacterial infection. Being the professional doctor he thinks he is, plan to wait over an hour and then later be told you are a psychotic, heroine user that is inconsiderate of calling at midnight from an ER he told me to go to and I have photo proof I was bleeding despite his complete and utter denial there was any blood. I guess you get stitches for the doctors to just practice. So if you want to be degraded, insulted and called a liar despite having pictures and witnesses he is your doc after you wait over an hour to see him. He told me that if I gave him a poor review he would see me in court. What a professional. read more

The wait is longer than any other Doctor I have ever been to and that's saying a lot since I have waited for 45 minutes with other doctors. Also, I had arrived well before my appointment and well before the patient who was supposed to be seen after me yet they had given him special treatment and let him go before me which meant I had to wait an extra 30 min. 2 hours and 16 minutes is a ludicrous amount of time to wait especially since his ability was not above what other doctors can do. Dr. Galpin is a very fine and gifted doctor. No doubt about it. I have gone to him for years. That said, going there and calling there is not a user-friendly experience. Waits are long and immense--a 2 p.m. appointment becomes a 2:40 appointment...if you're lucky. And the last time I was there, he spent more time logging info into his computer (he did explain that the software system was brand new) than asking me questions or examining me. You may have to call two or three times in order to get an answer, refill a prescription or check on lab results (although he does call if there's cause for alarm). I would hope his chock-a-block schedule would enable a to hire few extra employees-- perhaps one in charge of trafficking phone queries. That said, one of the best internists in Los Angeles and I'm onboard for the duration. read more

I have to leave this review because I really feel that this is the first doctor in years that has taken the time to actually listen to me and help me. Dr. Galpin appointments can take awhile but that is because he actually takes the time to review everything with you. I have been sick for 6 years now and was being treated for Crohn's disease. After several doctors and specialist, I'm so grateful I found Dr. Galpin. I was able to find out this whole time that I had a food allergy which was making me so sick. Since I have cut those foods out of my life all my symptoms have started to go away. It's literally been a miracle. This doctors office does not respect the patients time. For my first(and last) visit I was asked to arrive by 1:40pm. I was not even welcomed or addressed by anyone until 2:30. When I asked why I was told to come in at 1:40 the only explanation was that was when the scheduled new patients, but made no effort to explain why I would be waiting almost an hour before being given the STARTING paperwork to fill out. Then I was told the wait was always long there because the doctor spends so much time with his patients. No explanation as to why I , or anyone , would wait an hour just to start paperwork. There was no one to be found to ask any questions while I was waiting for something to happen - just left to sit in limbo. If the doctor and his office has no regard for other people's time/schedules then why should anyone respect them. I am a patient with a chronic immune condition, have been to many doctors offices and NEVER have experienced such an unprofessional office. My recommendation would be to avoid this doctor and his office unless you have lots of time to waste. read more

Dr. Galpin is seriously the most caring Doctor I've ever been to. I just visited for the first time after 2 1/2 years and my experience was amazing. Their staff was extremely helpful and easy to talk to. I've never felt so comfortable at a Doctor's Office. Dr. Galpin answered all of my questions, and we talked a little bit about life in general. My husband went to Dr. Galpin for years. He put him on Lipitor and it almost killed him. He lost leg muscle strength, his memory started going and his balance was off. My husband complained about the symptoms, and Dr Galpin ignored them. When my husband took a bad fall in Hawaii on vacation (which we attribute to the leg weakness and imbalance) he shattered his shoulder, and after an unsuccessful operation followed by a heart attack in the hospital, I call Dr Galpin three times from Hawaii and left messages. He never returned the call. After three years of in and out of hospitals and nursing facilities, we are finally having some healing with something as simple as magnesium. After 3 different specialist Dr. Galpin was my last choice. He ran more tests then all of them and continues to run test. He hasn't given up on finding out what's wrong with me, he also works with different meds to see what combo will keep me semi human lol if not I'm a zombie or crying from the bone pain that never lets up. He listens to you and doesn't treat you like you're crazy if your problem/symptoms don't fit inside the box. He's like dr. House. The only crappy part of the visit is the wait.. Even though you have an appt you can wait up to 3hrs to get in, granted that's also because he takes as much time with you to get down to the root of the problem, he doesn't treat you like you're on an assembly line and you're only allowed 14mins like most dr's.
