Honestly, this was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had at Playa Bowls. I ordered a pitaya bowl and specifically asked for the blueberries to be replaced with strawberries because I'm allergic to blueberries. I was very clear about what I wanted, yet they still made my bowl with blueberries. What made the situation even worse was that, instead of remaking the bowl after their mistake, I was basically expected to fix it myself by scooping the blueberries out of my bowl. They then gave me strawberries in a separate cup rather than simply making me a new bowl. Because I had to scoop everything out, the Nutella on my bowl came off as well. When I asked for a little more Nutella to make up for that, the employee became extremely disrespectful, literally sighing at me while I was speaking to him and trying to make it seem like the situation was somehow my fault. I also felt that he was dishonest about what had happened. I'm actually a Playa Bowls employee at a location in another state, which honestly makes this experience even more disappointing. This is absolutely not how we would handle a situation like this at my location. If we make a mistake with a customer's order, especially when an allergy is involved, the appropriate thing is to take responsibility and make it right--not have the customer fix the mistake themselves and then make them feel like they're the problem. Mistakes happen, but refusing to take ownership and having an attitude with the customer afterward is completely unnecessary. read more

I came here yesterday (4/19) for the first time b/c it was right after I finished Puppy Yoga which was around the corner and wanted something to eat since it was still early around noon. My friends really liked this place so I was curious as to why. So when we got there I realized it was a smoothie bowl place. It was a bit cold yesterday, but I can always do a smoothie bowl. However I say they had an oatmeal bowl, so I opt for that instead. Well When I got my bowl it was warm which I didn't expect I thought it was gonna be like overnight oats. So I was pleasantly surprised. Bust then I was soon disappointed. I ordered the blueberry/strawberry bowl, and literally that's is what I got no pizzazz or anything not even honey on top. It was the berries and sliced almonds. Not bad right, butbwjen i went to tale my first bite? The oatmeal me just felt stiff. It was steelcut oats but it had ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR! It also was kinda stiff. I then asked for a drizzle of honey to try and soften it up and add some sweetness to it, but it didn't help. Usually oatmeal should be a bit softer not soupy but a bit loose and creamier. This was very stiff. I asked the server in the future could the oatmeal be made with coconut milk or something, she said they normally just use water, which I guess is fine but they dont use enough water so that the oatmeal is a bit more loose. And it has ZERO flavor. The berries did t add much flavor at all. I just figured a place that was steadily busy, would have more to their oatmeal bowl than just oatmeal with berries on top. The should take these bowls off the menu. I said next time I go I amd gonna ask if the can mux in sime coconut milk and honey when they make it and see what they say. So it is worth going back b/c my friend enjoyed her Açai bowl, and I do wanna try one for myself b/c they have so many different smoothie bowls, but unfortunately for me opt for the oatmeal one b/c it was heartier..oh well... My gf found this place on postmates about a week ago, and since then we have ordered from them about 5 times. It's safe to say, she likes them. Her favorite is the pura vida açaí bowl, add bananas. She gets that every single time. It's very good, very sweet. I've tried the electric mermaid pitaya bowl, the kowbunga smoothie, and the mermaid fuel juice. The smoothie was not good to me, I didn't even finish it. But I loved the juice and the bowl was really good too. The service here is nice and quick. And the music is good. Due to COVID, only 2 people can come in at a time. After you order, you step out and they call your name at the window to pick up your stuff. One thing I really like is that the bowls, cups and straws are all eco friendly/made from plants/compostable. The first time we visited the actual storefront, we'd tried to order in again, but unfortunately they were busy and weren't taking PM orders. We checked back a few times, but they still weren't available. I'm hesitant to leave the apartment these days, but she insisted bc she just HAD to have it. Another reason I was a little hesitant is because I noticed that they are located on the beltline, which I know can be a little (lot) difficult to navigate, especially when you're not on foot. I've been in Atlanta for years and know my way around, so it was easy to make it to Auburn. But my lord, it was so hard for me to find this place. The very first time we drove we parked on the backside of the studio plex area. They have paid parking through the gate, but I chanced it and just pulled up to one of the free spaces. So good. I was so delighted to find out they opened a location in Atlanta. It is right on the beltline near Krog Street, and has a really nice outdoor seating area that overlooks the beltline. This is my favorite place that I have gotten acai at because the ingredients are always really fresh and it is reasonably priced. The only thing is that if you are driving here it is tough to get to and find where to park if you don't know where you are going. read more
