This is my reply to the Playa Bowl response. Wow. I'm speechless. This company is all about CYA and shedding any accountability and responsibility. Their conclusion is that they are always right and the customer is, apparently, always wrong. I DID contact Playa within 30 days and did NOT receive any response. Nor did I receive ANY responses across the multiple trips I made (each time paying hefty bridge tolls). The ONLY time I heard Playa weigh in was when I made a BBB complaint as well as the poor review here on yelp. Each time, "management" replied to the site and NOT to me personally, assuming this was just to spare their public image and as a CYA technique. They don't care about me, my experience, or the average customer--their sole objective is to portray a fake image of caring when their poor business practices are exposed. Look at the pics I posted, they speak for themselves. All I asked for was common courtesy and decency. Most of my reviews on businesses have been glowing, so blaming my dissatisfaction on being a poor customer is shameful and appalling. I'm sure playa will, once again, respond to this review and NOT to me personally...and I'm sure more BS and fraudulent claims will follow because they have to have the last word to try to spin things away from their harsh reality that they can't follow basic principles of running a business. read more

This is definitely one of my favorite açaí base bowls! I had the pura vida with strawberry, blueberry, honey, and granola. The fruit was fresh and plentiful. After looking at the menu there's so many more things I'd like to try. Service was quick and friendly. In addition to my bowl I purchased a gift card. I've avoided stopping here because I'd long heard it was busy and slow; however, it was empty today and we had zero issue with a wait. My bowl came so quick too. The space is large with plenty of seats. I'd hang out here alone or to meet someone. Bathrooms have a code and you can collect that from the front desk. My sister comes whenever she's finished up a class at CycleBar so it's nice it's nearby. I tried Electric Mermaid while she got the Lola. Delicious! Great variety of fruits and it's not overly sweet as long as you don't add Nutella. Some of the bowls do have a lot of calories but I ate only half and ate the rest the next day. As soon as I walked in, the aroma automatically made me excited for what I was going to get. It smells SO good in there! My cousin is in college and insisted we stop by because it was one of her favorite places. She has added to your fan base because it is now one of my faves. The inside was clean. Playa has been hyped up but I fear I wasn't impressed. For starters it took a long time to get our bowls, probably 10-15 minutes. The shop wasn't empty but also there was multiple workers so I'm not sure if it's lack of equipment or something else. It felt like a long time to wait for an açaí bowl. Second negative was that the açaí bowl felt icy. You know when you freeze something that isn't supposed to be frozen and it gets those weird ice crystals in it? That's what my bowl felt like. For such a high price point this was a let down. The only positive thing I can say is that they have a variety of bowls and a wide variety of fruit options. I would consider returning to try a smoothie bowl but after the açaí I'm keeping my hopes low. read more

Wasn't aware of this business until someone asked me to check it out for lunch. I arrived about 11:15 and had to wait until 11:23 for my order to be taken. It was somewhat busy and staff was doing their best to move quickly. They have online ordering option and that may be better to get your order quicker without waiting. I absolutely love that this is an option locally. I fell in love with fresh açaí while visiting Brazil and look for any opportunity to have it as fresh as possible. Believe it or not, I'm actually on my way with my husband for another chia seed pudding! The prices are fairly reasonable for the high-quality food you get and the bowl was really filling. The menu is on a wall-sized chalkboard. The entire place has that beach, fresh fruit, vibe. The employees are also nice and will explain anything. Moving out to KY from California has been great. One of the not so great parts, though, was a lack of Açaí Bowl and smoothie places. The couple around I have seen are just "meh", or have closed down. Enter Play Bowls in St Matthew's. Finally! A true, Açaí bowl place that has all the goodies that go great with açaí, and some I have not had yet. With a huge selection of bases (Açaí, Pitaya, coconut, banana, a greens Kale base, and even a couple more) Playa Bowls has it all. I had to document this great new place that will hopefully introduce and spread the healthy amazing news of these superfoods alternatives to the plethora of sugar laden options that abound in the Louisville area, like bakeries and ice cream shops ( which we have a ton of excellent ones). But when you want something that you can eat with confidence that it isn't just going straight to your waistline or contributing to the possibility you're going to end up with diabetes, Playa Bowls is my new go to dessert shop. The ambiance is perfect. A very Beach , playful and modern feel, with surfboards, ocean art, and rustic driftwood style touches all around, it feels like a quick trip to Cali. The menu is huge, maybe even a bit overwhelming to the new açaí bowl connoisseur, but the bowls are customizable, and the fact that Chia Pudding is on the menu, will alone give me reason to come at least 2"twice a week for a fix. Check out the photos for yourself, swing by and try something you have been missing, or something completely new. I doubt you'll have a single bad thing to say about the place. Saw the Facebook ads and wanted to try it. I lived in California for several years and seeing this kind of café made me excited. Super cute inside, the staff was sweet and had my food to me fast. The bowls average about $12-$13 dollars each. I got the pura vida bowl. It was delicious, I regret not adding more granola too it. The smoothie base was thick and full of flavor, the granola was super crunchy and the honey on top was my favorite. I also got the sweet cream cold brew per employee recommendation, it was great.
