As I was looking at the menu, the boys knew what they wanted so I sent them to the cash register to order. While they were at the cash register, one of the boys was touching a gift card display that was next to the cash register. The owner approached him and got really close to him and asked "are you going to buy one" and he said no sir, then the owner said "then don't touch it, put it down". We left and will NEVER return, Never. I would give a ZERO stars if possible. I'll drive to City Bowls in south Huntsville before going to this place, even if I just finished watching a trash pandas game. Horrible owner.

Playa Bowls is one such option, located near Toyota Field. I visited a couple of weeks ago for a quick lunch before going back to work and had a very nice time! The inside is tropical themed and very cute. I will say I'm ALWAYS hot and even I found it a bit chilly in there, but I guess that makes sense -- keeping all the bases (acai, pitaya, etc) cool and such. You order at the counter and employees call your name when your food is ready. Everyone I interacted with was perfectly pleasant and working hard. This particular chain offers a good many more combinations than many other fruit bowl competitors, which I think is mostly a good thing, though the menu can be a little overwhelming! In addition to bowls, they also offer smoothies and juices. Bases (in other words, the smoothie-like substance that forms the bottom part of a bowl) can be acai, mango, pitaya, oatmeal, or a green, coconut, or banana blend. Again, a little overwhelming, but fun to have so many options. I settled on the Electric Mermaid, which has a pitaya base and is topped with granola, pineapple, mango, kiwi, coconut flakes, and honey. Sadly, they were out of kiwi when I visited, but the employee was kind enough to offer to substitute another fruit or to double up on one of the fruits already in the bowl. I did double pineapple because it's my favorite. :) Overall, the bowl was yummy and well-balanced. All the fruits were perfectly ripe, not too mushy, not too cold, etc. It ran a little on the sweeter side thanks to the honey, but overall, I'd eat it again! There isn't a Playa Bowls particularly close to me, but I'd be happy to return and continue to try out some of their other combinations. If you're an acai bowl fan, I don't think you'll be disappointed here.

I will definitely come again, a great local place to have breakfast or lunch. A sign on the door also said they open earlier for breakfast now I got the hulk bowl which was so good and could barely finish the 12oz size. Everything was super fresh.

The açaí bowl you've (I've) been waiting for is finally here!!…read more Okay, important until Yelp fixes it: this business is on SOUTH parkway, right behind the Huntsville location of Tom Brown's. Currently it's listed as on north parkway, which is incorrect. Anyway. Back as a grad student at UA, I had an açaí bowl place I was obsessed with: Frutta Bowls. It was pretty much the only thing I missed about Tuscaloosa after moving back (sorry, not sorry). Try as I might, I couldn't find a place in Huntsville that made anything close to FB. The açaí would be too icy, the topping ratio would be way off, the bowl would be too sweet or not sweet enough...the list goes on. But! City Bowls has finally remedied that with some fruit bowls that live up to my expectations. They make acai, pitaya, and green bowls here. The one time I went inside it looked like they also had a small, simple coffee menu, too. The topping selections are wide and varied and there is a great selection of pre-built bowls, or you can build your own. Three different sizes of bowls await you, from the snack-sized 8 oz to the hearty meal sized 16 oz. The inside is clean, if maybe still a little bare-feeling. They have a drive-through window, too, which I LOVE, though since every bowl is made with fresh-cut fruit, don't expect to blast in and out in less than 5 minutes. Your patience will be rewarded! They don't have exact calorie information available but they do give some broad details (e.g. less than 600, etc.), which is appreciated. My two favorite bowls so far are the powerhouse bowl and the island bowl. The powerhouse comes with acai, granola, blueberries, strawberries, bananas, and peanut butter and Nutella drizzle, while the island bowl is made with pitaya, granola, kiwi, strawberries, and pineapple, with coconut flakes, honey, and bee pollen on top. They are both delicious, plenty filling, feel healthy, and with a balanced amount of sweetness, despite no added sugars! The ratio of toppings to base is close to perfect and the base has never been icy or gritty. No fifth star quite yet just because service on 2/3 visits so far has been a little bit curt. Not in a horrifically rude or mean way, just in like a "mostly teenage staff" kind of way, lol. I definitely intend to continue returning because I can never get enough fruit bowls, so if quality continues to be exceptional and/or as service gets a little friendlier I'll move up to a fifth star. The food is more than deserving of a try if fruit bowls are your thing!

Buzzed by here to get a drink before heading out of Athens. I really liked this place!…read more I think the location might've previously been a bit more on the square, but I could be wrong...as it is, it's still easy walking distance from the square but tucked away a little bit. There's a private parking lot it shares with a few other businesses, though I had already parked on the street before coming by. Signage is a little discreet but they have some flags advertising acai bowls. The inside is beautiful and nicely decorated -- modern, clean, has a bigger city vibe to it honestly. Walk around the corner to find the bar where you can order your drink. Service was exceptional. I was greeted warmly by a younger man with dark hair. I took a while looking at the menu (indecisive) and he politely told me that they were recently under new ownership and if I didn't see what I wanted on the menu he'd be happy to try and accommodate me. I saw they had a peppermint mocha which I love in all seasons and I asked how minty it was. He said he'd gladly tone the mint down for me and so I agreed to order that. He made nice small talk and brought my drink out to where I was sitting to wait. It was a simple interaction, but he made me feel very welcome and at ease and I really appreciate it! I checked out their social media later and saw a picture of him that had just been posted announcing the new ownership -- I wonder if he's one of the new owners? Either way, he was excellent. My drink was also pretty solid. I was missing a *tiny* bit of mocha flavor but the coffee itself was smooth and creamy and the peppermint had been toned down to an ideal level for me. Overall, very well done! I don't live in Athens but this place will be high on my list to return to when I'm in the area next.

The pleasant young dude helping me says coconut milk is on its way!! For vegans/veggies- they have wraps, a few salad choices, and the flat bread which I ordered... Food-not impressed with cauliflower flat bread. It's a horrible vehicle for toppings because it gets soggy quick and blends textures with the melted cheese- it's off putting BUT there's a saving grace in that you can order the wrap instead. Flavor was there though. The chicken and goat cheese with Frank's hot sauce is delicious and simple and actually has great flavor! You can order it without meat or beyond chickN.
