Superrrr cute inside! We were sat down pretty quickly on a week day. Parking wasn't bad either. I ordered the banana bread which was delicious! It was soft and the icing on top was wonderful. Nothing was overly sweet. The berries on top were a nice pop of color on top. My breakfast order was "brekkie". Folded egg with bacon, avocado, mushrooms, onion, ball of goat cheese, and tomatoes. Soooo good! Beautiful presentation. I don't remember the name of my coffee but it was delicious! Only two cons: 1. I felt the waiter rushed us. 2. They have this way to pay online that makes you pay a fee for paying that way. If you have them run your card there's no fee though. Not a fan. I'm truly so disappointed to write this review. I finally got the opportunity to try Loona's a few weeks ago. I've been wanting to visit since they first opened and have been anxiously watching their social media for coverage of the beautiful dishes and drinks, looking forward for my chance to try their food. But this first visit did not at all live up to the hype or my expectations. I came on a Thursday about three weeks ago after my annual doctor's visit. It was around 11:15 when I arrived. Note this restaurant is in the bustling Providence area. It's an attractive and somewhat upscale shopping and dining destination and parking can be a bit of a challenge. I found the parking lot of a nearby hotel that had ample spots, so I took one of those and marched over. It did look like there was a parking garage not too far away. Anyway, the restaurant was about 1/3 full when I arrived. The hostess asked if it was just me, which I confirmed. She asked if I was okay to sit at the bar. My preference would honestly have been a table or booth, even a two top, but I told her whatever was easiest for her was okay with me, and so to the bar I went. The bartender took my order and brought my food and mostly left me alone, which was also more my preference. He was nice enough in our interactions and food was served in a timely manner. After I ordered is when things started to go downhill. First, I asked a waitress where the restroom was and set off for a visit. Despite it being earlyish in the morning, one stall was already filthy enough I didn't want to use it, and the other one was out of toilet paper. Fortunately I noticed before using it! I came back to my seat and was served water in a carafe. It wasn't particularly cold but the bigger problem than that was that it smelled like dirty dishwater when I poured it in my cup. Not sure if my glass was still dirty or the water itself was, but suffice to say, it wasn't pleasant. Next, my food arrived. I ordered the breakfast burrito with a side of fries. Others have commented negatively on the pricing here, but my experience was slightly different. I ultimately wound up being charged for just the entree. The description for the burrito does not indicate it comes with a side. I assumed I'd pay for the burrito + side, which was going to be ~$25. THAT is a price tag I'd say is too high, but I was ultimately charged for just the entree, which was ~$16. I still think that's a bit much for the quality and size of the food I was served, but I can see how it would be acceptable under better conditions. That said, I'm not sure if the burrito does come with a side that's included in the price OR if they just forgot to charge me for a side. Anyway...the food. The fries were the best part at exactly average. They looked pretty and were crispy enough. It was a pretty paltry serving even for the price I was charged; it would've been a VERY paltry serving at the $9 (!!!) a side of fries was listed as on their menu at time of visit. Ultimately though, my main grievance is with the burrito. It needed work in about every aspect. It was put together poorly, with almost all bites I took very uneven in terms of filling, and watery sauce dribbling out before I even took my first nibble. I did ask for no avocado, but even with that in mind, I thought the amount the burrito was filled was pretty disappointing - it was tiny and heavy on the tortilla. My first few bites were only of egg and a few bacon bits - no sign of cheese, tater tots, green onions, or chipotle aioli to be found. The eggs badly needed salt or really any flavoring at all. Eventually, several more bites in, I discovered some cheese and some tater tots, but even then, the flavor-meter was pitifully low -- idk how you make a tater tot not salty enough, but these surely weren't. For a while I was convinced that they'd put some sort of very strange glaze on the bacon because it started tasing oddly sweet (à la candied bacon), but I eventually could only come to the conclusion it was the very watery, very pale chipotle aioli I was tasting. I was expecting that to be slightly spicy and definitely thicker/more mayonnaise-y, but given the listed ingredients, that's the only thing it could've been unless something went very wrong in the kitchen and some other sauce was put on my burrito. The one slightly saving grace was the green salsa, which added heat, if not a ton of flavor, to the dish. I am both mad and sad to say that I have had Taco Bell breakfast burritos that beat this one by a country mile. I really like the design and interior of this place and the menu looks promising. The service was fine. People whose opinions on food I respect have lovely things to say about Loona's dishes. I can only assume/hope my first experience was a very odd one-off. I'd be willing to try again some time in the future, but for now, this was not at all what I was hoping for from a visit. read more

Loona's cafe was such a gem! Our server was amazing, the food was 10/10 and it's in such a cute area of Huntsville. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was very well executed. My cousin got the vegan pancakes after some convincing from the server. She said they were amazing and it was unnoticeable that they were vegan. Our drinks were also delicious. The only thing I wanted to note, which is why I gave 4 stars, is because we were seated outside and it was pretty hot. There's no fan overhead in their patio area and we eventually also had to ask for a fly fan for the table which made eating really difficult because we kept knocking it (the table was quite small). I'd definitely recommend coming here but perhaps try to sit inside unless it's cooler weather. read more

We went to a private birthday party at Loona's Cafe. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. The guests were given menus so that we could order some foods from the kitchen. We ordered a charcuterie board and French fries. The charcuterie was delicious. There was prosciutto and provolone cheese, strawberries, grapes, and bread. The fries were perfectly fried with good clean oil and seasoned well. Both foods 5/5. If you want to have a private party at Loona's Cafe, please call and book your appointment. It came with 2 chicken strips on top of a waffle. The waffle wasn't your typical crispy/fluffy Belgian waffle. It was really soft and reminded me more of a pancake? It wasn't my favorite. But the chicken was nice and crispy. The service was great, our server was really kind and took good care of us. Loved our breakfast here at Loona's. Service was amazing and the food was yummy too! The interior is modern, clean and tastefully out together. We tried the breakfast sandwich, the Brekkie Platter and their Horchata iced coffee and Sweater Weather warm coffee (December visit). The food was delicious and the tater tots were seriously the best I've had in a bit (hot, crunchy, pillowy & well seasoned). Meals out the kitchen took a little longer than expected for breakfast food and no crowd but it wasn't offensively slow. This is a fantastic new addition to Providence. We came here on New Year's Day for brunch and thankfully we made a reservation. Definitely make a reservation if you can. Showing up without one might mean it's not possible to be seated. The restaurant had very clean and beachy decor. Everything they had looked good. If you come after 10, you can also get the lunch items. I got the steak frites. The presentation of all the food and drinks was beautiful. The drinks took a little long to come out, but everything was good otherwise. I will definitely come back. read more

Tried Loona's for new years day brunch and it was fabulous! I recommend making reservations on their site as they do get busy. The interior decor is quite lovely, with nods to Australian surfing. They also have outside seating for warmer days. They seemed short staffed, but even so the service was great, and the food was wonderful. Got the breakfast margarita and the Loona's breakfast plate, it was all delicious, well presented and balanced with fresh ingredients. Looking forward to going back! read more

I had the Beach Bondi Banana Pancakes and they were phenomenal. Normally when you add all that to pancakes it becomes too much. These were perfect! I am very torn on how to rate Loona's. I've been a few times and have liked it more with each visit. Except for today. I called in an order for a gluten free pizza, picked it up, got it home and indulged myself with a slice. It was quite good. I was looking at my slice and wondered how they got such a nice raised GF crust. It immediately dawned on me that this wasn't gluten free. I called the store. "No, you are right, we made a mistake. I'll make you a new one right now." Instead, I opted for a refund of my pizza. We all make mistakes, some big, some small. Some without consequence, others with the worst possible outcomes. Thank goodness I only have a gluten sensitivity, not an allergy or celiac disease. I now have to wait for the gluten to clear my system. I'm lucky. Someone with celiac would, no doubt, be suffering badly right now. I'd written my original, unpublished, five star review before this happened. I'll take some time to decide if I should add it to this review. Right now, I'm sitting here pondering how a trained kitchen staff member could make this large a mistake. I strongly recommend the manager takes a time out with his kitchen staff to remind them of their responsibilities to the safety of all of their guests. read more

Nice addition to the Providence area. Definitely make a reservation as the seating are is on the smaller side. 100% an ambiance beach vibe spot -- wanted to love the food, but just didn't this time. Maybe I ordered wrong? I did however love the coffee very delicious. My friend and I both ordered the egg sandwich- basically scrambled eggs, cooked onions, sauce on brioche bun -- I wish it was served on different bread, overall just kind of bland. Would've loved an addition of protein on it without the additional price tag. My mother ordered à la cart toast, bacon, grits, and ham. Her jam was definitely the best thing I tasted at brunch. The grits had a strange flavor I couldn't put my finger on and the bacon wasn't as crispy to my liking. Definitely recommend making reservations. We were sat very quickly due to having reservations which was really nice for a Sunday morning. The waitress was really sweet and made a few recommendations as well. We started with the banana bread bites with has this soft cream cheese topping and fruit and it could easily be a dessert. I ordered the ricotta toast which is a whipped ricotta spread with fresh fruit on a piece of toast. And it was delicious, but im not sure if it was worth the $14 for one piece of toast. I added on a side of bacon and got 4 slices for $6. The full breakfast was probably the best deal for 24$ and it came with the ham, eggs, avocado, goat cheese, mushrooms, and a tomato arugula salad. Waited around for someone to greet us upon arrival & then some confusion about our reservation. Food was ok/good but had to wait till my husband FINISHED his coffee before receiving my tea. Everything else was bad. Expensive ($70 for two), crowded with bad seating & uncomfortable chairs I couldn't lean back in placed between a popular door (constantly letting in the cold) and a crowded bar where a clueless couple crowded our table to speak to two women at the bar. I was referred to Loona's Cafe by two different people and so decided to check them out. It is an Australian inspired restaurant. You can definitely tell from the modern fixtures that this is a one of a kind restaurant. Once you step inside, it fells like you're not even in Huntsville. The ambiance is fresh and gives beachy vibes. You don't have to have a reservation, but I highly suggest you do so because they were packed. I believe they are open from 7a-2p, which are pretty decent hours. They are a 'breakfast-brunch' type of restaurant. Unfortunately, they don't have carafes, but they do have your typical brunch beverages like mimosas and Bloody Mary. We told our waitress this was our first time there and you would think that should have 'prompt' her to share some recommendations, but she didn't. After we asked lol, she gave us a few suggestions and so we decided to get the shrimp and grits and the Nashville hot chicken Bennie sandwich. The shrimp and grits were very delicious. The grits were very creamy, well seasoned, and that sausage gravy really made the dish. I believe the dish had 5 shrimp, which I wish based on the size of the shrimp, that they provided a few more or that they served jumbo shrimp instead. Nonetheless the dish was superb. The Nashville hot chicken Bennie sandwich was a hit too. It came with two decent sized chicken tenders coated in hot sauce. The chicken was very tender, not dry at all, also well seasoned, and per the menu, it was free of antibiotics and hormones, which was a plus. We didn't want the two poached eggs that came on the sandwich, so they offered to make us a side of scrambled eggs. All in all, very delicious food and an awesome atmosphere so will definitely be back to try something else on the menu. P.S. My only complaint about my visit is they had some doors wide open, which allowed for flies to come into the restaurant. While trying to enjoy our food, we were having to shoo away flies and gnats, which became a nuisance. I do hope that if they decide to keep the doors open that they get a restaurant curtain that should help keep flies away rather than just the small table fly fans that weren't actually on any tables. read more

When we first arrived there was a small line (but I think because they had a new hostess) she was very friendly and happy, we sat pretty quickly. The waiter comes out, we go ahead and order our food, waited another 45 minutes with no food, no waiter, etc. In exactly one hour of sitting there, with Zero service and no food. We left. I have nothing but good things to say about Loona's! We came for a birthday brunch with 6 people, luckily we had reservations or we would have had to wait about 45 minutes. Which to me, that's a good thing. It tells me, this place must be good, and it is. To start off, we had Bloody Mary's and Mimosas. Both were great, but my favorite is the Spicy Bloody Mary. Some had the breakfast sandwich, which looked good. Some had the Lox pizza, which was amazing, I had some of it. And a couple of us had the breakfast burrito, very good! The only problem I had was that I had been standing up front a hot minute before someone even acknowledged us. Plenty of workers walking by. This is not an Australian inspired restaurant. And you should probably change your description to either leave that out or add something about your dog. My mom got a hot vanilla latte to start and she said it was so good she was tempted to get one to go as well! Mind you she is really picky with her drinks. For food, I got the thick cut bacon + folded eggs but subbed the thick bacon for regular and sauce on side. This meal was SO good! I am still thinking about how soft the bread was and the taste of the cheesy eggs. My mom got the egg sandwich, and it was also so good! I got a vanilla latte to go, and it was also so delicious.
