Short walk from the Newark Shopping Center and the UDE Trabant Building

Being my third Playa Bowls that I've been to, I knew what I was going to expect when I walked into the store. The usual tropical vibe filled the atmosphere with chill music on this crisp morning. East Main St was slowing coming alive from the class ending their session and everyone scrambling from the local University of Delaware campus for lunch. I did decide to grab a green power bowl; which is something different than the typical acai bowl that I order. The Green Pacific Power bowl was packed with bold flavor. The tart strawberry was a contrast from the sweet banana, while the shaved almonds and chia seeds added a crunch to it all. The location can get busy so either plan for a time that the students and local population is busy or order ahead with their app. You might be tempted to sit by the high chairs and people watch on the sidewalk or head to the next stop for food or drink on East Main St. This spot is open year round and with a Playa Bowl for breakfast; it'll never go out of season.

New Playa Bowls that opened on Main Street. Good location- easy access. No wait On street metered parking. Good menu. Today I got the Pumpkin Pie Smoothie. It did not look like the picture- I think they forgot the pumpkin butter. Tastes good but set me back $9.99 for the small- ouch. I'll def come back again as they had a lot of items on the menu that look too good not to try. Also love that they use cups made from plants that are compostable.

I love love love Playa Bowls and, despite it being cold, stopped in a few weeks ago. The cashiers were so sweet, the bowl looked perfect, and there was a bangin' TSwift playlist running. Great vibes every time!

Tried Playa Bowls for the first time today and LOVED IT! First off the establishment location (Main Street, Newark) is cool so it's surrounded by a lot of other great places. Once inside it was very bright and airy..kind of a beach scene. I was happy that is was so clean inside seeing as it's located close to a college campus. There are a lot of choices when it comes to the bowls that are available not to mention if you can decide, you get to build your own...that was my favorite part. I created a half kale and half açaí base bowl with strawberries, mangoes, & pineapples. Finished it off with a honey drizzle ($10)...& BABYYYY it was everything! I wasn't sure I was going to like it seeing as I'm funny with too many textures in my foods but I had not one complaint after that first bite. The staff were great in helping me decide on what to get. Allowed me to taste test each base of my choice before I committed to something and answered any question I asked and I had plenty, lol. I'm afraid this is going to be my addiction during the summer so I might as well get my pockets ready! @kicknitwithki (IG)

    Where's the base and fruit?

DISAPPOINTING ... I might need to rethink my one-a-day Playa Bowl. Purchased six recently and five of my Playa Bowls were skimpy ... I left asking "Where's the base and where's the fruit? I'm used to having my bowls filled to the brim, because they are not cheap. I noticed when they were being made, the young lady missed the bowl and the base fell on the scale instead of inside the bowl Nevertheless, I could shake the fruit around inside of the bowl with the lid on. Moreover, there were big air holes in all five bowls. I just want what I am paying for I am not purchasing air. Check out my pictures. I hope I can share my video. This took place at their Newark DE store.

Terrible presentation and quality of food. Service was fine. Ambiance was fine just empty.

This was my first time trying an acai bowl, so take this review with a grain of salt. I ordered the Nutella one and got half acai and half coconut - and added blueberries. At first I was pleasantly surprised as I tasted mostly the coconut flakes and the Nutella. Quickly, I was discouraged as I realized acai bowls weren't really my thing. The one complaint I do have is the way the bowl is laid out, you have to work to disperse everything correctly. Eventually I just ended up with the acai and a little bit of fruit with no flakes of coconut and no Nutella. The atmosphere here felt appropriate and it was very clean. There was also outside seating which we took advantage of.

I've been on the hunt for playa bowls without almond milk! And this place is amazing! I got the pure vida bowl and omg it's soooo good! I actually put it In my freezer when I got home and ate the rest that night!! I will be back again! They have cute playa bowl stickers and stamp cards for a free item. #gobowlsdeep .... I did!! Haha

never had an açaí bowl before this weekend and ended up going saturday AND sunday bc they were so good! you can get a regular sized bowl or a half size for half the price. I just got the half size because I wasn't super hungry. they were both really good though and I would recommend the trestles for something sweeter/chocolately or the nosara for something more fruity and vanilla. the honey they drizzle on top and granola are soooo good! will definitely be back

Oatmeal was amazing ! I would 100 percent order the oatmeal again great for breakfast! The green smoothie was alright .... I definitely had other juices/smoothie which are better.

RECOMMEND! A huge selection of bowls and smoothies with fresh ingredients and friendly service. I couldn't make up my mind so I got a combo bowl with half açaí and half banana bowl. First time having a banana bowl and I must say that I LOVED it. So delicious.

I crave these daily Huge (almost overwhelming) menu. If it's too much, you can just skip it and totally customize your bowl, even mixing different bases to figure out what you like. Really cute beachy vibe inside. They have discounts on Tuesdays and a punch card to earn free bowls. Wish I had one closer to my house!

After recently trying açaí bowls for the ford time, I now look for new places each time I travel. I tried this place a few different times while at University of Delaware. It went above and beyond my expectations. Not only did they have açaí based bowls, they have kale, banana, coconut, and pitaya based bowls! You can choose one base or do half/half. The first time I tried kale, second visit I had kale/pitaya. Both were delicious! Once you have chosen the base, you get three toppings and a drizzle choice. The topping choices are endless - fresh fruit, different types of granola, coconut flakes, nuts, seeds, cacao. They also have bowls ideas to choose from, if you don't want to make your own. Other items they offer are: smoothies, chia pudding, oatmeal, and fresh juices. The store was clean and fun. The staff was friendly and helpful. I have heard there can be a long wait if they are busy. I got there right before a rush of people, so I barely waited for my bowl. Overall, I highly recommend Playa Bowls and wish there was once closer to home!

While I thought it is fine for a neighborhood Vietnamese spot, it was not worth going out of the way to come here. We tried the bun bo hue (beef lemongrass pho) and a combo of beef pho and a pork hoagie. The lemongrass pho had pork feet, 4 small pieces of beef, and 3 slices of Vietnamese ham. Aside from the spice, the broth lacked depth. The hoagies were small and was mostly just bread with very little meat. In general, I found their portions to be small and the ratio of meat to stuff (noodles, bread, etc) is rather low. The combo portions are the same size as the kids portions. The server said that it is roughly 2/3 of the regular portion but I think it is less than that. On the plus side, I think they've done a good job of adapting their menu to appeal to people that are not familiar with Vietnamese food.

I'm very surprised this place has such a high rating. First off, this place is dirty. If you look…read moreat the walls, you can see precious food splatters? Bathrooms are not clean.. I would rather not go into detail why. The waiter was pleasant but was bilingual which is a plus. The food itself was so far from traditional Vietnamese food. I would say this place caters to people who have never tried Vietnamese food before. Would not take my grandmother here. Pho dac biet 4/10: The broth was mid. At least there was a fair amount of meat Bun Bo hue 6/10: The broth was good, a tad too spicy. I only mention the spiciness because it feels like more spice was added to hide the lack of flavor. Fair amount of meat Bun V box 2/10: I liked the idea of a small portion of everything. The only thing good about this box was the noodles. The summer roll and spring roll both lacked flavor. The dumplings and the sauce were sweet which was not a good thing.. Coconut juice -2/10: Really disappointed that the drink came with a spoon but no coconut meat. The waiter waited until we asked and then told us that they ran out of coconut meat. It felt really odd that he waited until AFTER I received the drink and took a sip. Iced Vietnamese coffee 1/10: Probably made from powder and water. The drip device wasn't there.. The coffee was filled with so much ice that the lid was popping off. I was really disappointed in this restaurant. I would not come back nor suggest this to friends.
