I do not understand why this place has such a high rating. I came in for a smoothie one day because I was running about 20 minutes early for work. I ordered my smoothie, and waited. I first discovered Playa Bowls in Darnestown, Maryland - just a few weeks ago. I was nearly devastated because I felt like I was leaving a good thing. But aha!! There are two playa bowls in San Antonio, one that's about 15 or so minutes from my house. #Winning This Playa Bowls is located in a shopping center off of the S 151 access road, next to a Torchy's and Dave's Hot Chicken. There's a shared open parking lot, but note that it can be busy & you may have to drive a loop to get parking. This location is much smaller than the one back home in MD and doesn't offer as much seating. However, it's just as bright and vibrant. The staff are very friendly and ordering is very quick. It's National Mango Day, so I tried a new bowl (the Goldie Mango Bowl - add white chocolate). It's yum! My eldest stuck with her normal Dolce Smoothie but I added Nutella. She said that she got a glob of PB so I guess nationwide they just don't blend super well lol. Irs still good! read more

This smoothie place is good but inconsistent. I have ordered the same drink three times and it always comes out different depending on who makes it. The green tea matcha is terrible... the matcha is bad quality it has a bad grainy grass taste but I understand good quality grade matcha might be expensive for them to buy but the matcha they have is a funky low quality one. Ill be SHOCKED if its a "good" one lol. The pitaya smoothies are delicious however... my son and husband drank one and um... well when they went to the restroom after digesting it, it was purple pink disposable. not sure if the pitaya/dragon fruit is color dyed so it comes out purple/pink? Just thought I'd share an interesting note. I LOVE that they use coconut milk that is a nice option since I don't like oat or almond milk. Coconut has better nutrients. They have a pineapple smoothie and its really good but it never tastes the same and im not talking about the fruit was bitter one day and sweet the next, I mean one day the smoothie is a nice vibrant yellow and the next day its a whitish or brownish color. Again, not because the fruit is a different consistency that day I mean like a crayon color shade difference lol. Too much milk, or fruit ratios are off.
