Iced vanilla latte with oatmilk
Karina E.

I have been going to Barrio Barista for a little over a year now since I moved to San Antonio and the coffee is great every single time. The best thing I like about any coffee shop and what I look for is consistency. And this place hits the mark every single time as far as good flavor and consistency. Their pastries taste great and the barista is very kind. They make an effort to get to know you. The place is so cozy and I would come here and study if I didn't work weekdays but it's so homey inside.

Brisket Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Stopped by for some breakfast before work. Nice location. Staff were friendly. I got the mazapan latte and loved it... the peanut flavor really came through. We got the brisket grilled cheese and brisket tacos. Not going to lie, the food looked pretty plain at first sight. It was actually tasty though. Looks were deceiving. Lol.

Horchata Latte with oat milk....so yummy!!

Today I tried the Horchata Latte (Hot) with oat milk.....so delicious!!! Also the oatmeal is absolutely delicious!! The service is always so good, everyone is so very nice! It's absolutely my favorite coffeehouse.

Breakfast Croissant

Needed to find a place to kill time for about an hour and this popped up. Such a cool place with lots of trinkets around. I ordered the breakfast croissant and it was very tasty. The staff was friendly and the whole establishment had a nice vibe to it. Not a big fan of the flavor of their regular coffee, next time I'll try something different.

Absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is calm and dim with jazz playing, plenty of seating available. I tried the brisket sandwich and added avocado, so so good! Hubs got the brisket tacos, added avocado. Coffee was good. They do have a punch card and the 8th is free.

Barrio Barista is the perfect blend of great coffee and community vibes. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that feels like home. Their coffee is top-notch--rich, smooth, and made with care--but what really sets this place apart is the heart behind it. Whether you're sipping on a classic cold brew or trying one of their creative specialty drinks, every cup tells a story. I haven't had a chance to try the food, but I hear it's great, with delicious bites that pair perfectly with your drink. If you're looking for a local spot with great coffee, friendly faces, and a true neighborhood feel, Barrio Barista is the place to be! I had the Mazapán latte and it was a 10/10!

So happy to have the chance to visit this beautiful little coffee shop. Visiting from California and found this on yelp and wasn't disappointed at all. Great service, great vibe and great food. Had the horchata latte and a croissant breakfast sandwich. If you haven't been it's a must try!!

Grilled Barbacoa Cheese with Tomato Soup and Horchata Iced Latte!!!

Where do I start...this place very nice the staff was courteous. I love the outside and inside. Have many places to sit. I had the Barbacoa Grilled Cheese with the tomato soup!!!! It was phenomenal!!! The Barbacoa was not greasy it was just right with the cheese and the toasted bread with that slight burn taste hit so good and the soup was amazing. I had the Iced Horchata and that was amazing too. I know it only open during the week but if I could take one day a week off from work to try everything I would!! Place won't disappoint if you took a PTO day!!!!

It's been a long while since I stopped by this place. A cute batista that's known for its coffee and fancy grill cheeses. The parking in the front is pretty interesting, so if you don't really like backing out into incoming traffic, I would suggest going on the side of the building to park your car. When you first go inside, you can immediately smell the coffee. You can see people studying and not noisy at all (nice place to go if you want to chill and relax). The ladies in the front were very nice and worked hard to help the people with orders. The menu was on the television screen, so I was able to see what I wanted to get. They took my order quick and was able to find a seat just as fast. They brought out the food first fairly quickly. I had ordered a grill cheese sandwich with barbacoa and avocado, which tasted great. So simple, and they gave a lot of meat so I didn't feel cheated. I had also ordered tomato soup on the side, which was absolutely the best. I dipped my sandwich in it and gave so much flavor (definitely recommend the soup to anyone). Just as I was about finished with my food, the lady brought out the coffees. I did find odd that the drinks took so long to come out, but there was only one person making coffee for everyone. She was so nice she even told me that if I didn't like my drink, I could come up and get something else free of charge. Lucky for her, the coffees tasted good to me. The caramel Frappuccino was good and sweet enough. I had also ordered a hot Mex Mocha (basically a coffee Mexican hot chocolate) and loved the cinnamon in it. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone if you just want a quick stop and need a place to relax. Be aware though this place isn't open all day only in the mornings and part of the afternoon.

Horchata Latte

While getting our son settled in for his move to San Antonio we found this place and decided we would give it a try. The inside has a nostalgic feel of a local cafe/diner vibe or maybe a bistro. We each had breakfast croissant and to drink (on a rainy morning) a hot horchata latte and a caramel macchiato. Ohhh my my my! So good! Well worth it. You won't be disappointed. The staff are friendly, helpful and make you feel at home!

Barrio baristas throwback vibes!!
Jorge G.

Still one of the chillest coffee vibes on the Westside and all of SATX. Great coffee, food and the vibes make you feel like you're in a time capsule that was just dug out today. Modern throwback is how I can best describe how cool it is to sip coffee and just hang out. Great staff and owners.

The food was good. Had the barbacoa tacos. They are standard. Also had the horchata lattes. They had a great flavor.

Mexican Mocha
Lydia H.

My husband has been here a few times already for lunch but this was my first trip in. We both had the signature Mexican mocha. It is very rich and very good. My husband opted for two brisket tacos and two bean and cheese tacos. They looked good but I didn't take pictures of those. The bean and cheese had the cheese completely melted in which looked more appetizing than other bean and cheese tacos I've come across. The brisket was at least five thin slices along with avocado for an extra dollar. I opted for the chicken salad sandwich. It was a very hefty portion and had I known it would be as thick as it was I would have ordered a half a sandwich and a cup of soup. All in all, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the only caveat I can think of is it I wish this place was open on weekends. I will definitely be back when I take a mental health day during the week

The only thing I don't like about this place is that it's closed on the weekends. Solid prices, great coffee, and the food is solid too.

Ask the Community - Barrio Barista

What are the "roasted veggies"? If they contain onions/garlic, can they be removed?

When is this business going to be open? We saw this business on morning tv- and have yet to see it open.

Hi Yolanda! We made an announcement back in June about closing temporarily for much needed repairs, we hope to open by late August 2021! That was an old segment you saw on SA Live, that originally aired back in early Spring 2021. Thank you for…

Is this a quick place to grab breakfast?

Yes. Although the options are grilled cheese choices and one breakfast croissant. The drinks are especially delicious. Try the horchata latte or Mexican mocha. Closed mondays. Kitchen closes at 2. Hope this helps;)

Thanks to the San Antonio coffee fb group for all of the recommendations! They have a pretty expansive menu as well as plenty of delicious looking baked goods ! They have some cbd options too but I didn't try any of those. I tried the iced texas Star - flavorful and great espresso flavor. I do wish they used smaller ice cubes so the drink would last just a tiny bit longer. I also tried their chocolate croissant. Good, but would've been better warmed up! I don't remember if they offered that. My friend had the matcha and she loved it. They recently got a new matcha and she was worried because she loved the other one but was pleasantly surprised how smooth and delicious this one was as well. I definitely need to go back and try their matcha as well as other menu items because everything sounds so good. 1 star taken off because it is very hard to navigate with a stroller which is a bummer because I know tons of moms that love to venture out and find new coffee shops. On the plus side, clean restrooms with a changing table which is hard to come by!
