My dad walks over a mile into town from our house every Saturday to treat himself to a bowl from here! Whenever I am in town visiting my parents- I go with him. We walked to Playa Bowls on a beautiful and sunny Saturday morning for 2 bowls & an iced coffee coffee. I got the Jetty Bowl and I really enjoyed it. The chai pudding base was really good, filling, and not too sweet. Loved the granola & honey on top, and they have the freshest fruit- especially blueberries! They are HUGE and so sweet! Stopped in for an açaí bowl after a run, very quiet and only one other customer in there. Pretty standard ambiance for a playa bowls. I got an açaí bowl with strawberries, kiwi, bananas, Nutella and granola. For some reason there were 3 random raisins in my granola which wasn't pleasing but other than that it was fine. read more

I've gone to many locations of Playa Bowls. The actual bowls are delicious. This is my rating for the customer service. I ordered 3 bowls all with customizations, some I had to pay extra. I received all 3 without any customizations made with the defaulted recipe. I checked the receipt and my door dash order history to make sure it wasn't a mistake I made or some computer glitch. No mistake on either. I called the store to let them know (wasn't even looking for a refund just wanted them to be aware) the first associate barely questioned anything and quickly said she would refund me. I checked a few days later no refund so I called again. A different associate magically pulled up my name In .0006 seconds mind you my name is spelled different and I didn't spell it for her. She said "it's here it says it refunded on our end so you probably just have to wait longer". Ok I waited....over a week. S Still nothing. I call again and this time another associate tells me "we can't refund stuff you have to email our owner". This was never said to me??? And if they couldn't refund anything to begin with why are two different associates telling me they "see the refund"? I email the owner calmly and attach pictures since it's been basically 2 weeks at this point. The owner doesn't get back to me until the next day, telling me I have to call door dash and get a refund through them. Now I'm irritated, I express my feelings of not appreciating getting the run around and asked her why no one told me to contact door dash to begin with. The owner never replied to 2nd email. At this point I don't care about the $50 I spent on 3 WRONG açaí bowls, it's the PRINCIPAL I was born and raised in west Chester, and live a few blocks from downtown. I was so excited to see that it opened up as ive been to other ones. This was a horrible experience with the associates and owner. As someone who also has 15 years in the service industry (food, retail, beauty) this was a huge disappointment. read more

My first Acai bowl: very tasty, filling, and pretty fresh! Also beautiful looking! The atmosphere is very summery inside and when we went on a Saturday morning they had plenty of girls working so our bowls came up in no time. Prices were $9+ which I guess is reasonable for a meal? No complaints really because you get your money's worth. Tons of options and additional toppings are $.50, which is a great price point. The Acai was fresh and flavorful. I would come here to explore more bowl options and try something new (I played it safe my first order with strawberries, bananas, and granola). This will be great on a hot summer day. The bowls taste good. I mean you can really mess up fruit. But the service is not good at all. Never knew there were rewards until the third time coming in. And they never ask if it's for to go. Situated right next to the parking garage. My younger daughter and I went there at her request, as we'd gone to the Ocean City boardwalk Playa Bowl as a family last year and really enjoyed it! Unique concept. Many many choices. They have a lot of different types of "bases" like coconut milk, strawberries, and bananas, for example...like mine tonight. I had the "Stupid Cupid" which had the delicious base I just described, surrounded with lots of crunchy granola, ringed by sliced fresh strawberries and big coconut flakes, and drizzled on top with both Nutella and white chocolate! As a former UD student, I was excited when I saw Playa Bowls was coming to WC! I usually get the dolce smoothie which is delicious and peanut buttery. I came during the week with a friend and we ate our smoothie/açaí bowl and did some work on our laptops. There is free WiFi and a few plugs around inside to charge up your laptop. We came early in the morning and it wasn't busy but business picked up a lot during lunch time! It ended up getting too noisy/crowded to continue working so we went elsewhere. The cost was on the higher side for smoothie bowls (~$10), but the serving size was huge! Definitely is a shareable size, or you could take it home and have leftovers. Okay smoothies and I was unhappy with the service. My boyfriend and I came by here in the morning before meeting up with his family and I got the acai energy and my boyfriend got the dolce. When we got up to the register, the girl at the till literally just stared at us blankly until we ordered. No "hello", no "how can I help you", etc. after I said "hello, how are you" to her. The guy in front of us was being kind of a jack ass so maybe that was why, but it definitely left a sour taste in my mouth because we didn't do anything to her. The acai energy was VERY sweet compared to what I was expecting and my boyfriend liked the dolce but all you could taste was the peanut butter. I'm not sure if I would necessarily come back here especially considering it seems like there are a lot of other smoothie places in the area. I came into the store at 7:55 on a Friday night, unaware that the store closes at 8. I was rudely welcomed by the blonde girl at the register. My friend an I walked up and she immediately said "if you know what you want that'd be great because we are closing at 8" and gave a very dirty, mean look. After ordering, a young boy walked in and she angrily said "um we're actually closed". However, the boy was meeting his friend who was already helped. She rolled her eyes at him. Her behavior was very unwelcoming and unprofessional, this is the worst customer service I have ever gotten. I will say the other two workers were polite, and the bowl tasted good. read more
