So to give you some context, I wanted to surprise my bf with breakfast and asked them if they could write a little note on the bag (I honestly thought they'd write it on the receipt with pen, I'm not picky!) Great place! Stopped here for the first time today. The staff was friendly and the food was great! We decided to try this delicious menu of different types of foods for everyone from your meat eaters to your vegans. We ordered the naked orange drink (delicious), bacon hot mess quesadillas and vegan tacos. Our food came out hot and fresh and super delicious we had the option to sit outside or indoors in a quaint setting that is clean and well-maintained. The staff was smiling and friendly even though they were super rushing around due to the crowd but had smiles and great service. This was a lovely experience. My friend was very hungry and I was in the "I could eat" phase of the day. So we could easily order one or a few tacos and each was delicious. It was nice to walk right up to the counter outside and wait for a few minutes by the table and chairs. I can't wait to go back. I do wish the tacos were spicier, we were given packets of hot sauce but without them the taco lacked much in terms of seasoning. A lot of the flavor came from the fresh ingredients. I expected the chicken tinga taco to hold a bit more spice but was a bit let down. The smoothie was refreshing and hearty! Definitely not watered down and worth the money. I think the food is delicious but the amount of trash produced is insane. Today is my last day eating here. I bring my own togo cup for my smoothie but the amount of trash produced by the plastic water cups, straws, bowls, utensils, and parchment paper lining is disturbing and upsetting. Even a switch to reusable water cups would make eating here a better experience. There isn't even an incentive to bring your own cup as there is at Starbucks (10 cent discount). This is a restaurant that claims to provide healthy and vegan food, which it does, but it does nothing to promote sustainability or the general health of our world! :( I will return with my friends when there is a guaranteed effort to be sustainable. read more

This place is soooo good! I stopped in for a to-go power breakfast before a work meeting: smoothie and an egg burrito. The ambiance is exactly what you would expect from a juice bar - bright blue walls and fresh fruit displayed everywhere. What sets Jaco's apart though is their additional food menu that most juice/smoothie bars don't carry. I ordered a small Spinach Colata (no agave as the banana made it plenty sweet) and the Hot Mess breakfast burrito but sans burrito since they only carried flour tortillas and I am gluten free. I was more than happy to indulge in my breakfast burrito "bowl style" though especially since I added avocado and hot sauce and was able to mix it all up. Prices are very reasonable for a juice bar - a smoothie AND a breakfast entree for $15! I could have used some coffee this AM as well but alas, you can't have it all. I would definitely go back to try this place for lunch next time I am in town as their tacos all sound amazing! read more

For months, I've been watching Tony Sume restore the old home of Roots. I've watched them put in the big sidewalk window, the counter seating, the juice machines... and now they are open! The good news is that it's VERY good -- fresh, healthy, friendly, and fast. A woman was busy making the tortillas from scratch when we went in. My Santa Fe burrito was tasty, hot, and a resonable size -- NOT the giant, comedy "as big as your head" West Coast style. Kate's adobo taco was really good. The smoothies are EXCELLENT, made from fresh fruit and ingredients. They appear to be totally vegetarian and vegan friendly, with a note on the menu that almond milk can be substituted... and there's quinoa porridge. Popular little Taco bar in West Chester that has seemed to keep up in popularity throughout the years. Not 5 star quality but it's pretty solid Taco bar for Chester County(gotta grade on a scale here) Raging Bull and Santa Fe burritos are my favorite. Most of the juices seem decent though the names can get a bit gimmicky. Main things I would knock them on are; 1. No prices on their website menu. They have paper menus with prices so I don't see what they don't post this information on that thing called the world wide web. 2. Not a real complaint but they have early closing hours. They close at 5pm so this is basically a breakfast lunch place. I guess I can't really knock them on not doing the dinner thing but man they are leaving money on the table. If they did a late night thing they would make a killing but I get the nightmare associated with trying to sell tacos to drunk college bros at 2am. If they were open to at least 7pm they could serve a dinner crowd but they probably like the idea of keeping that shorter shift with smaller staff. read more

Nice outdoor seating to get some work done and also had a walk up window to order from outside. I got the Brooklyn smoothie which was very good. They have small and large but the small was plenty filling and refreshing. You can also add a shot of wheat grass to any smoothie. From outside you can see them putting fresh fruit into the juicer front and center so it's nice to know what you're getting. I didn't order food but the menu looked awesome and the people who did order around me looked like they had some great options! I would definitely go back to try the food. Only reason not 5 stars is because the outdoor seating area was a little messy with left over napkins on some of the tables and no staff attending to people sitting out there. read more

I stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon. Unfortunately their juicer was broken! Ordering a salad, I paid and a minute later the apologetic staff informed me that they were out of lettuce. Having already paid I dabbled in the veggie tacos. Kale, potatoes, cotija cheese, beans, poblano crema and tomatillo salsa. Sounds flavorful right!? Not at all. This was 100% pure mush. There was hardly any cheese and lacked all flavor. My only savior was smothering each taco in cholula hot sauce. Lesson learned, go to a juice bar, order juice. read more

This place is LEGIT! Came here for a quaint, party-of-1 lunch one afternoon and let me tell you, it was the perfect decision! This was still in the early fall so was a gorgeous day to order at the outside window and chill at one of the outside tables. Got two Baco Taco's (avocado, sweet onion, tomatoes, sweet corn, cotija cheese, tomatillo salsa, and roasted poblano crema) for $6. Made it vegan by getting it without the cotija cheese and poblano crema but was STILL amazing! All the flavors are so in-sync with each other that you could probably just eat a whole bowl of the ingredients without the tortilla (new menu idea, perhaps??). In addition to the wonderful lemon/lime-infused water that they have, I also got the Pineapple Express (pineapple, kale, cucumber, coconut water, and mint) as my drank. Was a bit on the expensive side ($5), but tasted (as my fellow Yelper Aria S. would say) healthy AF in a good way so I guess I wouldn't mind splurging on it once in a while. Just a note, this juice is a bit on the minty-kale side than on the sweet side so FYI in case you're looking for something sweeter. Can't complete this review without giving a shout-out to the ABSOLUTELY-AMAZING hot sauce. It's like a liquidy hot taco sauce with garlic and is just SO good that I can't even explain the taste. They also sell bottles of it (for $8 I believe) so you can take home some treasure. Staff is also extremely nice, informative, and patient so that always makes a pleasant experience! Only qualms I have about this place (but not enough to deduct any stars) is that (1) there aren't enough vegetarian options and (2) this place could easily serve as a locally-favorite late-night spot but they aren't even open for dinner (close at 5pm). Nonetheless, you can't frolic around Downtown WC and NOT try this place. GO FOR IT! read more

I also love the raging bull burrito and the breakfast burritos. 4 stars were given due to inconsistency and portion. Sometimes the smoothies are watery, sometimes they are thicker like they should be. The amount of salsa given with the chips and salsa is kind of a joke. The proportion is way off. I had to order more salsa because we were left with so many chips, and I was charged for another small cup of salsa. read more

Discerning Diner back on the beat... Located right in the heart of the town of West Chester on Gay Street (directly across from Iron Hill Brewery), this cute little Juice & Taco bar is a page right out of The Venice Beach Boardwalk in L.A. The vibe is laid back and colorful and feels like you are in a beachside/boardwalk surf shack that serves authentic tacos alongside trendy smoothies and açaí bowls.I am not so much a smoothie/açaí bowl guy, so my review will be limited to the taco side of the offerings. I wanted to try a sampling so I ordered three tacos (they are individual but discounted if you order two of the same); the Fish taco, the Tijuana Street Pulled Pork taco, and the House-made Chorizo taco. All were very very good and authentic SoCal/Mexi offerings. All of their tacos are served in house-made soft corn tortillas. The tortillas were terrific and very light. Sometimes corn tortillas can be a bit thick and grainy but these were light and almost could have passed for thin flour tortillas but with the authentic flavor that you can only get from a corn one. That was the first thing that I really liked so was excited to dig in! The first one I tried was the Fish taco, which to me is always a tell of how good a taco bar is going to be. It was delicious! Generously filled with North Atlantic Cod and topped with pineapple salsa, pickled cabbage slaw and a roasted poblano crema. The fish was seasoned and lightly grilled to perfection as opposed to fried, which I really appreciated and made the taco very light and a bit healthier as well. This taco had great flavor, as the sweetness of the pineapple salsa was a nice juxtaposition with the smokiness of the poblano crema. I immediately wished I had ordered two of these. Next I went with the Tijuana Street Pulled Pork taco. I was a little confused on the menu description for this one as it's listed as pulled pork, but much to my delight (as I had hoped), it was really more of a Carnitas as opposed to a vinegar/bbq based pulled pork. It came simply with some diced onions on top and finished with cilantro. The pork was tender and clearly had been slow roasted for hours as it melted in your mouth, but it could have used a little more salt in my opinion or some additional seasoning to elevate it, however I get the simplicity the chef was going for. I added a sprinkle of salt and some hot sauce and it was great! Last but certainly not least was the taco that I was most excited about; the House-made Chorizo taco. I L O V E Chorizo in just about anything especially a good taco, so it was game on, and this taco didn't disappoint! It was loaded with chorizo which was finely crumbled and well seasoned, then topped with caramelized onions, shredded lettuce and some more of that poblano crema. It was my favorite of the three taco and really was outstanding. Only complaint on this one would have been that it was truly loaded with chorizo, so much so that it was breaking the soft corn tortilla as I ate it and I had to use a fork to eat the rest of it from the plate, however too much chorizo is not too bad of a problem to have! The menu is also teeming with smoothies and fresh juice concoctions but that was all a bit more than I was looking for today, but might look to try one next time I go. Jaco Taco also has a second location apparently in Media, PA as well. I have my eye on a couple of the breakfast burritos so my next visit will likely be a breakfast one and then can have one of the drinks to go with it. So stay tuned for that in the near future. Overall this was worth the trip for me (as I was already up on 202 anyway this morning). Location is really nice too as it is right on the main drag there. Can hit it for lunch, then shop up and down the cool stores on Gay St, stop in Iron Hill or Kildare's for drinks and then take home a 28" giant pizza from Lorenzo & Sons for dinner (which is also right across the street). Visited Jaco on a Sunday afternoon with a friend and was pleasantly surprised! The place has expanded since my last visit and now has a full dining room in addition to their bar. The atmosphere is open, clean, and cutely decorated. The service is quick and friendly. They have a pretty large menu of breakfast burrito options, tacos and burritos, as well as my favorite, fresh juices and smoothies! We especially loved the carnitas tacos and the chicken street tacos. The flavors are delicious and their meats are some of the highest quality I have had in tacos.
