Very Disheartening As a business located in Franklinton, Ohio, Play Pets management should be incredibly saddened. This morning I stopped in their empty parking lot for 1 minute to pack a bag and give a local homeless women socks, toothpaste, and other essentials. When I left my vehicle to deliver the bag I was immediately confronted by a staff member yelling that I couldn't park there. I acknowledged his concern and reassured him I would be back in 30 seconds tops. Nonetheless he continued to yell and threaten to tow me. Making the situation more absurd, after a minute of nonsense back and forth, I apologized and agreed to move my car 50ft to the next door gas station. I proceeded to deliver the bag to homeless women in 30 seconds. I am sure this is not the brand image and empathy a local business wants to portray, but it's only fair the community know what type of people are taking care of their loved pets. read more

My pup Elton LOVES coming to daycare at Playful Pets! He really enjoys playing with all the other dogs and having people give him the attention and constant play he needs. The staff does a great job of getting the more active dogs to play together, while also monitoring that no one is getting too aggressive. They also take the dogs outside for potty breaks super often. Everyone I've met so far on the staff has been very friendly and welcoming. They remember Elton's name and always assure me that he has had a great day. I feel very comfortable leaving him with them. As for location, Playful Pets is located in Franklinton. It's tucked a little bit behind a gas station. There's plenty of gravel parking. You just enter through the front door and drop your dog off for the day. I'll say that they don't do the picture updates or have cameras like some other places, if you're into that. Like I said though, I feel comfortable that my pup is being attended to. And at the end of the day - that's what matters most. read more

In 2010 I adopted my first of two fur babies then the second in 2012. They are spoiled and I believe are treated well. It wasn't long after my first adoption that I needed daycare and boarding. I took him to a downtown Columbus site for his evaluation and he was accepted for daycare and boarding. I used them several times and the quality went downhill quickly. After my second adoption, I took both to them biting my tongue about what I was experiencing when I brought them home...kennel cough, fecal matter buried deeply in their coats and general malaise I didn't accept. Absolutely no concern by owner and staff when I attempted to address this over and over. I didn't have other choices. I found that their was homecare with a vet tech and it became my ultimate go to. I travel frequently and I need my fur babies to be happy and healthy. It came to the time where my needs were greater than they could provide so I had to find alternative care. PLAYFUL PETS, has become the answer to any and all concerns I have ever considered for my babies. Daycare and the in-home and in-facility boarding has just been awesome and so consistent. I met Steve Faulkner and we talked about what he offered and how he cared for his clients. I was also interested in his business venture. I became very impressed. My confidence and commitment happened after I witnessed him and his staff meeting my fur babies. He met and evaluated my two and they spent the day in daycare so both he and I could come to an agreement on yes or no for continued care. They passed the muster. Without any second thought I have enjoyed daycare and long boarding. COSTS are unbelievably low compared to other in-town options. Extremely insightful when you learn how Steve is directly present and involved with each family. SMELL...There is not an animal smell. Some might think there'd be dog smell but none. CLEANLINESS...the facility is large, CLEAN! The outdoor fenced in areas are safe and secure. No doubt they are as clean as interior, no question. CARE and CONCERN of and for each family. My fur babies honestly seem to know they are headed to school when we head into Franklinton. They are so healthy, exhausted and content when they come home after school that day. They know they'll be doing field trips when they spend the night after a school day. Boarding can be in-home or in-facility. They get the same top-quality individual attention when PLAYFUL PETS becomes their home as when they're at home with me. I've been involved with other facilities and home care....I've found Steve and PLAYFUL PETS their home away from home. I couldn't be more excited to see my kids so happy going in and coming out of their school. I don't trust just anyone with my family members. PLAYFUL PETS is our family. read more

I brought my dog in for some grooming which was supposed to be $50 and left my dog with the owner. When I returned the owner had someone else return my dog to me and with a piece of his ear missing. When I asked about it he replied "oh it's nothing! It happens all the time it will grow back" (which it did not). On top of that instead of offering some type of compensation for stitches/medical treatment or a discount for mangling my dogs ear the price increased to $75. Will not be returning. The hair cut was pretty good and the shampoo smell lasted little over a week, aside from that, not a good experience at all read more

Steve is incredible. Probably the nicest person ever! My Pickles loves overnighting at his house. The first time we sent our little boy, we had no idea what we were getting into. We had an emergency travel to our home country and needed Pickles to stay somewhere, we took a chance and what a beautiful chance that was?! Steve welcomed Pickles like he has been going there for years, kept us up to date on what he was doing, sending pics and videos. The reviews are real and true. I was originally very nervous about taking my dog to daycare because he is missing an eye due to an accident with another dog and he is very anxious. He has been going there three times a week since August, and has been boarded there on a few occasions while I was out of town. We have not had anything but good experiences, and he comes home happy and exhausted. You can also purchase a bath for your dog, and they give really great baths! He is very calm after he has been there and it definitely helped socialize him and reduce his anxiety. He even somehow miraculously got potty trained there, I'm assuming from watching the other dogs. My dog likes this place and the owner so much that we are actually considering Playful Pets' location for our upcoming move. We are trying to move so that it is still on the way to work or not far out of the way! read more

My pup loves it here! Every time he knows we are leaving to go, he gets so excited! We absolutely love Playful Pets, we use them for boarding for our two dobermans and they are wonderful. Our boys get to play with all the other dogs there for daycare throughout the day and are able to sleep together in one kennel which is awesome. Steve and his crew are some of the most friendly dog lovers my wife and I have met. They give such peace of mind when leaving our little pup for daycare or boarding. 4 things: 1.Trust: Each staff member knows us and our dog. They tell us funny stories about our playful and vocal husky. I fully trust that he is getting attention and care. 2.The space: We searched high and low for doggy daycare, we visited and spoke with different places. Steve, the owner is passionate, hard working and generous. This was the only place that had outdoor space. The play areas are large and clean. 3. Our pup loves it: It is not easily done, but our 1 year old husky comes home tired. He knows which days we go each week and he waits by the door as soon as we wake up. I love watching him run in with the group of dogs that he knows. He usually sleeps for a couple days after daycare. 4. The deal: We buy the biggest daycare package which means we pay about $15 a day. Our dog requires 3-5 miles of exercise a day which takes up 1.5 hours each evening. One doggy daycare seems to wear him out for 2 or 3 days. So it's possible that 1 day of daycare provides me 3-5 hours of time. That makes it very worthwhile, not to mention snuggles from a tired dog are priceless. Also, exercise and social engagement are different. Dogs need to socialize. We wouldn't change a thing. read more

We LOVE Playful Pets! We have utilized their daycare, boarding, & grooming services, and we have had nothing but great experiences all around! Our dog Milo gets to play all day long while we're at work, maybe get a bath & nail trim, & come home a tired pup. We've taken him to other daycare/boarding places where I always felt like Milo was just a number, but Steve & his staff really care about these dogs & I never have to worry because I know Milo is in good hands. In fact, I think Steve is just as happy & excited to see Milo as Milo is him! The prices are fair, he doesn't come home smelling like pee (which happens a lot when you have a small dog), & he absolutely loves it so what more can you ask for! read more

Originally, with another pup I brought there, I had a great experience. This time, I left my very playful pitbull there for a weekend while I was out of town and it was a horrible experience. First, when she was dropped off (and picked up) she was called a different name- which would be no big deal if the following things wouldn't have happened. When I picked her up, I noticed that her face was completely broken out with red bumps and she had several large bite marks on her face and neck--while I know this is something that definitely happens- there was no call or even mention of it when I picked her up. I took her to the vet much later the next day because she was coughing and peeing blood- it turns out that she had gotten kennel cough (she was vaccinated) and a UTI. Of course, any of these things can happen but when I called Playful Pets to ask about the face swelling and bites, it seemed as though I was being dismissed- my dog was miserable. Honestly, if I had at least known or been told at pick up that she was acting strange, this would be very different. It was clear to me that they don't really watch the dogs that closely for change in appearance or behavior--or making sure they know their names. This can happen anywhere and I was very disappointed that it happened at a facility where I had previously had a good experience. We won't be back and I would encourage others to think twice before leaving your pup there overnight. read more

I love this daycare for two puppies of mine! They always come back super tired and calm after a day at the Playful Pets of Columbus. So the first day I went to check out this place I emailed Steve the night before, since I didn't get a reply (I emailed pretty late in the evening) I thought I could take my puppies with me the next day, which I did. Since I hadn't scheduled any meeting I thought I would just check out the place and go back but Steve said I could leave both of the puppies for the day and they will do an assessment to make sure my puppies got along with other pups there. I drop my pups off once a week or so at this place. One day I forgot to carry my purse, and I had requested nail trim for my dogs, since I had already paid for the package, Steve said he would just take off days from the package. He is very accommodating and super laid back. My puppies love him and this place! read more
