I have two miniature schnauzer dogs that I brought to playful pups today and I would never even bring my mother n law there to be groomed. I have brought my dogs there before but today was the worst! We got there at 8am and asked them to please have them done by 2pm. I get a call from a very rude women at the front desk at 1:45 telling them they couldn't give one of them a haircut and I needed to get my dog some sedatives if I wanted to bring him back in three weeks. They washed him and still wanted to charge me for a shampoo and haircut! These front end people at this business have absolutely no customer service skills! After trying another boarding facility, and realizing that just because I like it doesn't mean my fur baby does too, I was send here by a loyal customer. From the get-go my husband and I were very impressed by the staff's friendliness and professionalism. They were also very loving to our baby, which is something we definitely pay attention to. At the end of the first day of daycare, I was very pleased to realize that my baby wasn't rushing to get out of there. Nonetheless, I decided to give it another try a week later. It was just as pleasant of an experience as the one before. Needless to say that I'll keep taking my baby to Playful Pups because we've had nothing but good experiences with daycare and grooming, and my fur baby goes in wagging his tail so I know that he loves it too. I have been boarding my dogs here for several years for every vacation. The dogs know when I move the food bin over to the counter and get out ziplock bags exactly what is happening and they they wag their whole bodies in excitement until I drop them off. Dropped our pups off for a night to see how they liked it and they loved it! They were very well taken care of and both got bathes upon pickup which was a very nice surprise. We chose this place bc it's cage free so they are in the "general population" all day. For those dogs that would rather be alone, they also have suites! The place is huge and very clean. It didn't smell like dog, which is always a plus. The staff is super nice, even though I called a few times to check up on the boys. Can't beat the price for what you get! When my mother was hospitalized, I had to leave my dog for two weeks to be with her at the hospital. At first, I was skeptical because that is the longest I had been away from her. We checked on her periodically and everything was fine. Now, when I go out of town, I use this kennel and I have not had any problems. The people working there are nice and honor my requests. I am a very protective dog owner and I feel good about leaving my best friend here. When you first walk in, you will notice that it is very clean (and amazingly doesn't smell like 'dog') and is very brightly lit. The large dogs are separated from the small dogs and those groups are broken into smaller play groups- based on size and temperament (separate the lazy old dogs from the young jumpy pups etc)...I love the report cards you get...so cute! The staff is excellent! My dog is greeted with a hug and a treat! He truly loves it here. I have done boarding and daycare ...very happy with both. Last point - daycare is a lifesaver - after I get home from work the dog is tired, I have no messes to clean up and he is less barky! This is the place for dogs. read more

Don't like the lack of outdoor area. The fenced area is a wood privacy fencing and is concrete and asphalt in the sun with no covering. Have you ever touched asphalt when it has been in direct sunlight most of the day it will blister dogs paws. read more

Very scary that she could have gotten ran over by a car or taken home by a stranger. I had my dog boarded here last November (just got around to getting a yelp account). We had her boarded while my me and my wife put the finishing touches on our ETS move. We picked her up just as we got on the road. She smelled great but acted strange. We noticed she didn't want much food or water. Luckily we were only on the road for 2 days. When we arrived at our new state, she began to defecate nearly pure blood. She was miserable. I took her to a vet and received some medication and we started a pure cottage cheese diet. Four or five days later, she pooped out a giant piece of cloth. I called Playful Pups to speak with the manager about reimbursing me the 100 dollars for the vet. They avoided me after 3 weeks of calling. It wasn't feasible to fly back to Columbus to go there in person. STAY AWAY. read more

I boarded my dog here for two nights and got him groomed on the second day right before I picked him up. They failed to tell me that he had a stress hot spot on his back and proceeded to cover it with his fur. They had to have seen it because he had been groomed, brushed, and blown out right where it was. A week later and he now has an abscess and a deep infection in his back. I wouldn't have minded as much if they had told me right away so I could have gotten him treated right away but for them to hide it and not mention anything and allowed him to have an open wound for over a week is completely irresponsible on their part. I now have hundreds of dollars in medical bills to pay, only because they did not brief me about it right away. I will not be back and do not recommend anybody use this place. read more

The first time I boarded my pup here he came home stressed and was pushing out blood when he had a bowel movement. We had the vet see him but took the blame and considered maybe it was just food related. Over the last few months we have taken him a couple more times with decent experiences. Although on separate occasions he has come home excessively filthy (bits of feces stuck to his leg hair) and the customer service doesn't always seem to be consistent. I've over looked some things because I understand it's a chaotic environment and my pup seems to have been coming home satisfied the last few times; but ultimately I'll probably be considering other options. As soon as we pull up to the building he is obviously anxious to get out of the car and into the building! We have used this company on several occasions and it is the only place my husband and I feel comfortable leaving him which is great for us also as we get to take such peace of mind with us where ever we are traveling to. The staff is always friendly and courteous, both to us. Peanut is always remembered as he comes in the door and we can tell that he is very comfortable there. So happy to have found this place for my puppy!! My husband and I had a last minute trip out of town come up and after a few online searches and talking with coworkers we came across Playful Pups. I called to ask questions and the people were super nice. Its an open kennel boarding facility so the dogs are not locked in crates all day. This was really exciting since my lab/boxer mix puppy has plenty of energy. I brought her in about a week before our scheduled trip for the temperment test and was so glad that my puppy absolutely loved it there!! When we picked her up from our trip they had bathed her and put a really cute Christmas bandana on her as well. What is also great is that she is completely exhausted when she gets home so I know she had a great time playing. The price is also very reasonable. This is a great and reliable dog boarding business in the Columbus and Ft. Benning area. Our first time bringing our dog, we had to see if she got along with the other dogs for a few hours. She got along fine, and we were able to get a tour of the facility upon request.... Was not happy with the service I received from playful pups. I took my lab puppy there a few times when I was at work for doggy day care. The first two visits were great! The trainer came out and discussed what they were going to do throughout the day and made sure I was comfortable leaving her there. After the first few visits I had a severe decrease in love for this establishment. The receptionists never greeted me, they never told me how the day was, and my Allie was WAY to hyper to have spent any time outside or doing any kind of organized activity. She reeked of kenneled dogs and pee every day. I feel as though I was simply paying them to kennel my dog for me when I could be doing that at home for free. So in short, Allie has not been back and Playful Pups is never a place I recommend to someone who asks "where should I take my dog for day care?" read more

I took my dog to this place for a bath and groom. The first thing I noticed was that the people at the counter weren't very friendly. Since I had the appt I left my dog any way. When I came back the customer service was the same with different people. Poor. My dogs grooming was terrible. Multiple places where hair was left that shouldn't have been. It also appeared that they cut my dogs leg and tried to cover it with super glue. No one said anything about the hair or cut. Just took my money and sent me on my way. Stay away from this company! I dropped my dogs off and left them in good health condition and behaving normal. When I picked, them up a week later it was a nightmare. One of my dogs had an ear infection, poop in her hair and she wasn't eating normal. My other dog was not eating normal either, threw up as soon as I got home and had a patch of hair missing. I left the company with basically an entire bag of food with specific feeding instructions and two permant marked feeding cups. If they followed the feeding instructions we left, there is no way all the food would have been gone. They lost a feeding cup and when I called the owner to express all my concerns he never callled me back. I was promised before check in that they would get a bath and that didnt happen. I called a few times to check on the dogs and no one answered. I will never take my dogs there again and I suggest you dont either. This is a real story from someone who loves thier dogs. Found a coupon for a free trial of doggy daycare so decided to give it a chance based on the reviews. I wanted the dog to become more socialized and figured this was the best way to do so during the week. My girlfriend dropped off our puppy and informed me the staff was not very friendly. When I went to pick up our dog, one of the two workers seemed like she didn't care to be there. The main room was VERY warm and all the dogs seemed very anxious. My dog came out of the room was covered in what looked like feces and dog food. We had just bathed him 3-4 days prior so it occurred while there and based on the setup in the building, I imagine the dogs were allowed to relieve themselves inside the room. This also caused some issues re-training my dog to relieve himself outside as there were a few accidents during the first few days of coming home. Maybe I just expected too much, but I'd rather crate my dog all day before subjecting him to this place again. read more
