This place is a HARD NO! Walking in, you're hit with a severe and pungent odor of urine. Then there's nothing but an area with chain link fence defining different areas for dogs. We got there at 7:03, so there weren't many dogs. When we got back a few hours later, a few of the pens were filled with dogs. Specifically the pen with smaller dogs was filled. I assumed my dogs would be out there until more dogs showed up to go outside. Nope. Mine were put in a separate pen together, but it was obvious they didn't go outside. The dogs are left in those pens all day. That explains the smell of urine. They just pee on the floor. This isn't a doggie day-care. It's a holding cell for the time they're there. read more

We were hesitant about boarding our dogs, but due to a rover cancelation.. we had our two dogs boarded here for 2 weeks. The staff was super nice and it was easy to check in and out. However, upon picking up my dogs, I was told they had diarrhea for a couple days due to nerves. We did not hear of their sickness until pick up. One dog even developed a rash from licking her irritated behind. Fast forward a week: my dogs were still not keeping food down at all, and we tried all the at home remedies. My poor dogs were in such discomfort so I finally took them to my vet. $437 later, my dogs were prescribed antibiotics and probiotics. Additionally, we've been feeding them the bland food diet. Now, 3 weeks later, one dog finally has solid poop. The other one is still struggling. It's been so sad and frustrating to see my dogs go through this. I dropped off perfectly healthy dogs and they are still suffering the consequences of staying at Preppy Pet. Due to my dog's hurting stomachs, I definitely would not recommend this place. read more

I would first like to preface my review by saying that I am ONLY reviewing this location's boarding services for CATS. I have nothing to say about their doggie daycare or grooming services, since I did not use them. However, I strongly feel that this location should not offer boarding for cats since the owners are clearly not cat people and do not understand the basic needs of cats. When I dropped my two cats off, I had to stand in the filthy "cat room" watching the staff member set up their cages. If I had not stood there watching him do it, I am not confident that he would have put a litter pan in the condo my cats were going in or water dishes. The owners seemed fairly baffled by any of my directions for caring for my cats because they admitted they are not cat people. When I came to pick my cats up 3 days later, neither of them were in a condo with a litter box, and one of my cats (who happens to be in the early stages of kidney failure) had no water dish in her condo. When she got home, she sat at the water dish and drank for 15 minutes. I will never take my cats back to this place. It smells very unsanitary, and I used to work in a vet. hospital/kennel, so it is not as if I am unfamiliar with how an animal hospital smells. All of the dogs that I saw on the premises looked happy and healthy, and they seemed well supervised, but Preppy Pets is not for preppy cats. I will be taking my cats elsewhere next time I have to board them. read more

I find it very funny that this person is claiming that I wrote a fraud review. My review is NOT FRAUD but it is 3 damn years old. Give me a break I don't go around writing reviews of dog boarding places just for fun. regardless of whether or not my dog caught kennel cough from here, the place was dull very poorly ventilated and spelled of straight piss. So unless they figured out how to get better ventilation I would still stay away. And the dog was a boxer named lady and probably checked in under my husbands name not mind. Again, 3 years ago! If you consider your pets your family, please I beg you, do not bring your pups here. If I could give zero stars I absolutely would. I have never left a negative review even with bad service but this is about my fur babies so I need to be an eye opener for other pet parents. This place is absolutely horrible! I took my two pets to get boarded here for 3 days (I had planned on 7 but we missed them and came back early from our trip). To begin, the older man that was working there at the moment seemed upset because I came early from my trip (even though I called to let them know) and they wouldn't let me in the building (he said they don't allow anyone one besides the employees inside because of Covid). ***but my husband was able to go inside just a few days earlier*** that was a red flag . Then, he kept saying that I need to come on the day I scheduled because they weren't expecting me (should it matter? I am paying full price). And then they brought my pets who reeked of poop and pee and their hair was filled of pee, they were literally soaking in their own pee. Then they brought their dog beds which were clean before boarding them and they were wet of pee and had poop spots everywhere! My dogs are potty trained and have never had accidents in our home. Not only that but when we received the food I left them (it was only enough for one more day even though I gave them more than enough for 7 days). They were only there for 3 days, what were they planning on feeding them? We got home and my pups ate like they hadn't ate for the entire time they were there, and one of my pups had a bleeding paw. Don't let the price or the fact that they have cameras keep you "at ease" because it's not worth it. We were never able to see our pups while they were there. And I feel awful for having taken these "good reviews into consideration". As I walked past their door it reeked of pew outside the door. My guess is that they weren't expecting us, so they didn't clean up. It's just horrible. Please please please take your pups somewhere else. This place should be shut down. It is not a place for anyone or any animal to be in. read more

I have only used daycare, which has been great for my little guy. I like being able to look in via the cameras. I would like to see some climbing toys or some that challenge the little ones to move more in their area. That's why I took a star away. read more

Ginny the groomer may be the worst ever. When I dropped my little yorkie off all I ask for was his butt sanitized, feet trimmed short. And the rest very little cut. And I specifically said do not shave him. When I arrived he was shaved I said that not what I wanted and she said he moved a little and I cut it uneven so I had to shave him. So now my dog is haves and in some spots cut all the way to the skin no hair left. Her excuse was its hot out he'll like it. And I still paid. Buyers beware and pee all over the ground where the dogs are which means they are not being walked. I'll never go again!! read more

My sister boarded two of my dogs and two of her dogs here this past week and sadly it wasn't a great experience. All 4 dogs came back extremely stressed. One was puking, one had diarrhea, and two of them were peeing all over the house. (All dogs are very well trained and have been boarded before). They either fed the dogs the wrong food or didn't feed them because we had a ton of food brought back. And the food that was given back to us belonged to the dog who always eats!!! When I called I wasn't given much except some dogs just don't eat when they are boarded. I wont be going back. read more

My husband and I took our german shepherd there two years ago.--Awful--our dog was in a state of shock. He was just blank. He did not wagged his tail or greeted us. He seems scare. We knew something was wrong with our dog. His paw was cut and when we asked about it, they didn't even recognized that he had a sore paw. It was the worst experiences that we ever had for a dog boarder. Do not take you pet there, it was terrible. My dog is three years old now and I had never gone back. My husband and I take our dogs to Preppy Pets every time we go out of town. I love the option of paying *slightly* more for them to have play time with other dogs their size. Today was my first time bringing my dog to preppy pet to get groomed. First of all the stench when you walk in is terrible, it's a strong urine odor. I dropped my dog off before 9am and had to call preppy pet at 3pm to see if he was ready. After I got there to pick him up and they brought him out his hair cut was NOTHING like I described or wanted to be done. I asked for a puppy cut, medium length, to trim the tail, and clean his ears out. When they brought him out he was shaved short and the tail still had super long hair. Plus they didn't even groom his ears they were full of hair and he had patches of long hair left in places. The groomer said he was too matted to keep the hair longer and that he wasn't cooperating to get his ears done which is funny because I've never had a problem like that before. After voicing my dissatisfaction with the work the groomer took him back and spent an additional 40 minutes trying to correct the horrible hair cut. Luckily I was reimbursed my money but I will NEVER EVER EVER be returning to preppy pet. I wouldn't want to board my pet there either based on the smell. read more

We took our two Yorkies to Preppy Pets yesterday for grooming and as usual we were very satisfied. The groomer is awesome. She actually sings to them to keep them calm! If I tried that they would run away and I'd never see them again! I highly recommend them for grooming as well as boarding. read more

I have to agree with Tina R. The cat room was very clean when I toured the facility on multiple occasions. They have cute pictures up of cats, and have gotten toys(and some kitty weed, i.e., catnip) as well as a crinkly cat tunnel to help stimulate the cats' minds. From what I understand, they rotate the cats so that a family of cats is out of the condo one day, then another family another day. They provide clean litter boxes and I've seen the food/water bowls are tended to per instructions of the owner(i.e., please feed my cat THIS in the morning and THAT in the afternoon). Each time I go in, it smells either like cat litter(which is to be expected when you have cats in a room) or just clean. Granted, the previous comments were a year ago, but to me it's always met my standards. As for dogs, they've taken great care of my big dogs. They know them before they even come in the door! One of ours, a mastiff, sheds tremendously, and when we pick her up, she's always shed-free because they brush her for us! Our stuff is always nice and clean, but there was this one time we came early in the morning and one of our furkids had peed on their beds, and they hadn't had a chance to get it into the washer due to the amount of dogs right then. Since then, we come pick them up towards the afternoon when they've had the time. One of our furbabies is a puppy and gets three meals a day for now, and they are more than happy to oblige. Filling out the paperwork was pretty straightforward. I called on the phone the first time and they asked a small series of questions(name, number, dogs' names, breeds, etc). Speaking of breeds, they don't do pits because it is a franchise policy, not them. However, I'm reviewing the facility in Columbus, not the entire business. The only vaccinations required are a rabies(duh), a DHLPP(they said it's a booster shot and most dogs get them yearly), and a bordetella(have to ask vets sometimes because my vet did not do it until I asked them to). All in all, I would rate this Preppy Pet Suites as a five star place. The building is well-ventilated and cool/warm depending on the season. The dog dookie is picked up when it's spotted, and the dogs all seem to have a fun time in the play pen. Our mastiff gets to go with calm dogs 'cause she's on the shy side herself, so the dogs seem to be placed appropriately. I love being able to get online and seeing my kids with everybody else's. I know when I leave my pets here, they get taken care of with love. read more

I take my 3 dogs there everytime I need to leave town. The family that owns this kennel is VERY accommodating and so nice. They take last-minute reservations when space is available and have your dogs ready when you wish to pick them up. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because their monitors that you are supposed to be able to access online don't seem to work for me. I rent the extra-large size kennel for my 3 small dogs to give them room. They always seem to be happy and healthy when I pick them up. The kennel staff always lets me know if one of the dogs isn't eating properly, etc. I have left my dogs there 3-4 times already, and I've always been pleased with the service, cleanliness, etc. read more
