It's a play space and cafe! Brilliant. My kids looooooved it. So many toys and areas to explore, and even an18 months and under specific area that my 16 month old adored. He ran right to it. There's even a separate back room with different activities set up depending on the day. We went on arts and crafts day so it was set up with those activities and my daughter especially loved that. Tables surround the play space so if you're trying to multi task and get stuff done while your kiddo plays--it's doable! Plus the in-house coffee shop is clutch. I got a cold brew and my husband got a coffee. I also have to comment on how clean and new this place was. Even though it's a kids space it was pretty immaculate. All of the toys were in good shape too. Very impressive. My sister in law is a member and I definitely would be too if I lived in the area! A must!

The 1.5-hour playtime with the entry fee is great, but I highly suggest checking their website for hours and the event calendar, as the play area can reach full capacity. It also seems like a very popular event venue, so the entire place could be booked for a private event. I would like to see a tiny improvement of more frequent cleaning especially where the littles one are, because they crawl and pick up small debris.

Employees were generally helpful, although they were on their phone a lot and weren't super outgoing and friendly. It also wasn't super busy, which I appreciated since some of the other play spaces in the area can get very crowded. From the moment we arrived, it was clear why Gipson Play Plaza has quickly become one of Raleigh's most beloved public spaces. Spanning 18.5 acres, it's the largest adventure playground in the Southeast, thoughtfully designed with climbing towers, imaginative play spaces, gardens, public art, and sweeping views of the Raleigh skyline. Parking was plentiful, making it easy to start exploring. Our first stop was the beautifully restored House of Many Porches Market, where you'll find snacks, cold drinks, indoor restrooms, and a welcome escape from the summer heat before heading back outside for more adventure. The children loved moving from one area to the next: running through the water play features, climbing, exploring, and discovering something new around nearly every corner. One of the most memorable moments of our visit was feeding the fish, a quiet pause that became an unexpected highlight amid all the excitement. One thing to note is that on especially hot days, some of the metal slides may be temporarily closed for safety. While completely understandable, it can be a little disappointing for children eager to experience every part of the playground. If I could change one thing, it would simply be adding more traditional swings on the playground. That's purely personal preference, though, and certainly didn't take away from what is an incredibly well-designed space. Gipson Play Plaza is more than just a playground: it's a place where families can comfortably spend an entire afternoon. Between the thoughtful amenities, imaginative design, and variety of activities, it's easy to understand why it's become a destination for both locals and visitors alike. Despite the summer heat, we had a wonderful time, and I can already picture how beautiful it will be to return on a crisp fall morning.

The brushes were really old, the bristles falling off and bent in every direction. You can't paint with frayed bristles. There were no large brushes, just really small ones. Everything there was really expensive too. $20 for a small piece. It wasn't even detailed. The chairs were ripped up and looked like a dog's 10 year old chew toy. They barely gave us any water to wash our brushes and no towel or sponge to get them dry.
