I was not asked to purchase any additional items and after asking advice on future maintenance I was given a straight answer and quick estimates. I recommend Playground Auto Service as they were hundreds of dollars cheaper compared to the dealership and much more friendly. There are no appointments either, just drive right up and they will take it from there. Ok upon recommendation of a coworker , I told my son who was having a electrical issue. Well Play ground came & picked up my sons car. After a few days machenic George advised would not be worth fixing & what issue was. Well after charging my son over $420 dollars & towing car back. It was discovered they tore out door runner, under desk & steering wheel area & because he choose not to spend well over a $1,000 plus they did not put it back together. I contacted play ground & spoke to George. First everybody who answer phone was rude & George was a cry baby. I explained my son was only 19 & they took advantage of him. Also find out that play ground charges to put your vehicle bAck together after they tear it all apart & get upset if you choose not to let them fix it. Was suppose to be put back to original state. I would not recommend them, they try to blame customers, take advantage of young adults & I'm sure would do it to women also . Nothing more then another greedy & unethical local business. read more

Called them to have a tow... was only going 2 miles..was $85. No military discount. That was fine, set up the tow. The guy came out and hooked my truck up and got it to its destination safely. The garage couldn't fix my truck so I called playground back..2 days later...asked them to tow my truck to my house..again right down the street..the dispatcher said it would be $85. No return customer discount..I went with Holmes auto who only charged me $75. read more

Unfortunately the only reason I used playground was because of my family asking me to since it wasn't my car. SEVERAL times I took the car to playground and they would "fix" said issues and a few weeks later it would be the same issue or new issue but same part they supposedly fixed. Recently paid over $500 for a new alternator, 2 weeks later my alternator is out cause my car to completely die while I was driving, they fixed it saying it was a faulty alternator. Here I am another 2 weeks later and guess what guys and girls, my alternator is messed up again. I will not be ever going back nor will I EVER recommend them to anyone. read more

Had an issue with my car and requested roadside assistance through my insurance. Playground responded for towing service and were very quick to call me within less than five minutes. Tow truck driver showed up in about 20 minutes and dropped me off. The driver was friendly and courteous. Overall from my request to pick up and dropping my vehicle off was under 30 minutes. TLDR: Playground Auto Service is a greedy, anti-consumer business, either incompetent or devious and should be avoided at all costs. On April 27th, 2016, we took our Nissan Maxima to "Playground Auto Service" at Fort Walton Beach, FL. We were pretty positive that we had a bad battery as it was already pretty old and not holding a charge anymore. In our prior experience at many auto shops, they test the battery you bought there for free. However, Playground Auto Service charged us $45.00 to test it and (unbeknownst to me at the time) $22.50 for the labor of removing the battery. They confirmed what I already knew and sold a new Interstate Battery (IB) with 5yrs warranty (2 yrs. free replacement) $158.95! A trip to "Playground Auto Service" cost us a total of $244.72 with tax for a simple battery replacement.... And loss of work time... Flash forward 15 months, our IB was acting up and so we again went to "Playground Auto Service" to have a free replacement since we had it tested before. They charged us $47.50 (testing and labor) as opposed to $45.00 (testing) and $22.50 (labor) as they charged earlier. Based on the amounts, it seems they made an honest (!) mistake the first time and charged $22.50 instead of $2.50 for the labor of removing a battery. Once again, the battery was found to be bad and a free replacement was given due to being within warranty. But we ended up paying a total of $51.85 with tax for a battery that was bad, but they had to verify that it was bad! We paid for their verification since we could not be trusted as there are no honest people left around! 20 months later, our IB replacement battery was acting up, again. We went to Playground Auto Service to replace it. We told them that we will do the labor to remove and place the new battery as we did not want to pay $22.50 for battery removal. After initial test, they wanted to do further testing. Because of the battery being low on voltage, they wanted to charge us $12.50 to simply charge the battery up for them to further test it. After testing it, they said the battery was good! Wanting to ensure that the battery was not an issue, we decided to get it tested at various auto shops elsewhere. All the tests were done free at these locations: At Sam's Club, they tested the battery and discovered it was bad. The same was true at Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone and Goodyear Auto Shop. As a final verification, we ended up going to the Local Auto Shop where they were licensed to sell/replace IB, and they confirmed it was bad. They replaced the IB free of charge without the hassle as we experienced at "Playground Auto Service" at Ft Walton Beach, FL. My elderly mother used this mechanic for many years. Recently Mom fell at home, and had to be hospitalized. She currently is in a rehab facility recovering. I have been taking care of paying her bills since her accident. In reviewing Mom's documents I found over a dozen invoices from Playground Auto. These invoices revealed a clear pattern of this mechanic taking advantage of an elderly person. Mom paid thousands of dollars for "repairs" that were either unnecessary or were significantly over charged. Please do not trust this mechanic. HORRIBLE! I got my engine done there and when I got my car back it wasn't even fenced in, there were scratches and cuts all over my car. I literally left the lot and on the way home my car shut down on me. Turns out I needed a new gas tank and a new radiator, even though they were both fine before I got my engine work done. After I got it all fixed, I had no AC and driving down the road my oil pan fell out of my car. So this place is honestly the worst! read more

Had a wheel bearing fail on my 2004 subaru impreza. Took it to Playground and they didn't have the tools to replace the bearing. They did the repair with a bad used hub & bearing. They did not inspect their work, or test drive the vehicle. After receiving the vehicle I spoke with John, the owner, and was told they would "do what they could." Since then I've called back, but they screen their calls. Do not have any repairs completed by Playground with used parts. They don't stand by their work and will ignore your calls. read more

As soon as my car was no longer under warranty, I sought to find a good, honest mechanic. I found one and used his shop for years until recently, when the quality of service I was receiving and my level of trust plummeted as a result. I needed to have my car's AC repaired and, after one of his guys took a quick cursory look at my vehicle, he told me that my car required a certain part that would cost over $300 for the part alone. Because the last couple of repairs I had done there were not done to my satisfaction, I was hesitant to let them attempt this repair. When I mentioned my dilemma to a friend, he suggested that I check out Playground Auto. Playground did their diagnostics on my vehicle and came back within 45 minutes or so to tell me what the specific problem was and how much it would cost to repair it. One hour later my repair was complete. The total repair, parts and labor, came out to less than my old shop quoted me just for the part they said I needed (which was not the part that needed replacement after all). To top it off, this month's special at Playground was 10% off your service if you gave them a like on Facebook, which I promptly did while waiting. That sweetened the deal even more! Another thing that I really like about this establishment is the fact that it is run very professionally, all the way down to the comfortable, clean, well appointed waiting area, and uniformed employees.
