If I had the ability, I'd probably give Castaway Cove 4 1/2 stars, but since that's not an option I rounded up to 5. I went here my entire life growing up, right up until the day it closed, which was honestly pretty sad. It was one of those places that worked for every age group, but as a kid it was especially magical. The rides felt incredibly fun and, at the time, pretty scary too when you were little. Another great thing about Castaway Cove was its location right on the boardwalk. You could bounce between the rides, the beach, and all the little shops without ever running out of things to do. And of course, you could spend the whole time walking around with funnel cake in hand, which made the experience even better. For me, it's a place tied to a lot of childhood memories. Anyone who grew up going there probably understands exactly what I mean. read more

My kids had fun for almost 2 hours so I guess that was worth the cost. We got the 100 tickets for $75 and they were able to ride a decent amount of rides. I did have to buy just a few extra tickets at $1 a piece to let them get on 1-2 final rides. We were there in the off season so there were no lines for anything. We did not do the gale force coaster, but did the smaller coaster right next to it which was fun. We ended up winning a large prize on one of the carnival games. Bathrooms were fairly clean and no lines for those single stalls either. Much better than porta potties. read more

Great little amusement park for kids on the Ocean City boardwalk. The rides take tickets. I didn't think the amount of tickets needed per ride were too bad. The rides here are mostly kiddie rides which is perfect for my toddlers. My youngest was not tall enough to go on any of the rides by himself but thankfully they let an adult ride with them without charge. They also have carnival games and various concessions. It's fun and nicely laid out with tons of rides which are great for kids but a little too thrilling for my stomach.

So listen this amusement park is great and all except for one thing. There's this one worker named Billy who was a total jerk to my son. I was figuring out where to sit because my son wanted me to sit next to him and he says, "Alright bro it isn't rocket science." I told the dude stop being a jerk to my son it isn't cool and he says "I don't care." So somebody please talk to Billy because there was no need for this comment. read more

I didn't grow up at the Jersey shore but DH did and this was a must stop for him! Now we take our kids! It can get CRAZY busy here- best time we found is to go thr day after Labor Day- there are ZERO lines and our littles got to experience the same magic! They love the rides and the arcade! It's a fun place- the attendants don't seem to be very attentive so make sure your kids can get off the rides by themselves or help them off- I saw a little girl fall off the carousel and our daughter tripped and fell off the Ferris wheel- thankfully we had a hand on her but the other little girl was not so lucky! We really like castaway cove. We would love if they would have wristbands for sale like Gillian's does. They very rarely ever offer specials. There are maybe three wristband days for charity and it's so crowded you can't move. They do offer half price ticket sales during Easter. However, they charge $5 for shipping which negates the point of the discount. Overall, it is a nice family environment with enjoyable rides. Just need to be more family friendly when it comes to prices. It's also ridiculous that they make parents use tickets to go with their kids. You aren't making anymore money off my spot cause my kid is just riding alone. Therefore, what difference does it make if I go for free. Just poor public relations. read more

We're here in OCNJ for our week vacation. Last nite I had my son, my daughter and my 3 granddaughters at Castaway Cove. The girls rode the crazy upside down rollercoaster. They screamed so loud they were out of breath . The 3 yr old rode the cars and was so excited and happy. I can't say enough good things about Castaway Cove!!!! It's a fun place to take the kiddos for a night of riding amusement park rides. The kids always enjoy the varied rides and we love seeing them have fun. It can get expensive, that's why the best time to buy tickets is around Easter when they are 50% off...and btw they never expire. It is inconsistent and annoying that you never know if you have to pay to go on the ride with your child or it's included because they are too short. I have sometimes only paid for my 36" daughter, and I have gone free. Other times they are asking for my tickets, and I probably look clueless and confused. read more

We were here tonight to try something different other then North Wildwood. We along with our daughter loved it! The place is very clean for an amusement park. The tickets were priced fair considering were at the shore. My daughter got to ride almost every ride. It was a great time! Staff were friendly. My only gripes would probably be the tickets, it's 2017, get the card like Moreys in Wildwood. They are so much easier! After the log floom our tickets were soaked. My other complaint would be when a parent needs to get on a ride. Is it necessary to charge them? Some do and some don't, just wish it were consistent. The train is a little annoying as well. It's weird how it cuts through the center of the park and you have to wait. Overall we had a great time and we enjoyed the amount of kiddie rides. This may be our new spot! Solid 4 stars. read more

This really is a nice l will call it a mini carnival. Awesome rides for kids, teens and some adults. I know l was having fun. You can buy individual tickets or a bundle. I believe you save the more you purchase. Last time l came to Ocean City l was at the other side of the beach so l missed out on this one. Sure glad l found it this time. This is an excellent park. The management does a great job. Rides are maintained well and staff is friendly and helpful. Much better than the other park in Ocean City. New rides nearly every year. Our entire family loves coming here. We visit many times each summer and always take advantage of the half price ticket sale that happens around Easter each year. read more

Oh my gosh this is so cruel and ridiculous . I got in line to go on swing ride with my cousins and this Empplyee Josh starting yelling at us saying " your old enough to know not to touch the gate " and this guy was plain mean and cruel starting shouting. other emplyees and customers can hear what he was saying . I went find my seat and he didn't help me with my seat and just went circling around like some kind bird . He didn't check to check it was safe . Then my cousin was just moving around in his seat and he yells at the top of his lungs GET OUT OF SEAT, YOUR DONE . He wasn't even doing anything . This guy was so grumpy he reminds of the grinch that stole Christmas instead he stole kids happiness . He told one other customers he got off too FOR NO REASON. I came back for another party recently and I have had a better experience, I rode a multitude of rides and my day was filled with fun. Although I had a good time on the rides our server from DQ at the party seemed to be lacking experience. She brought out the pizza and didn't help serve us and walked away without giving plates of napkins and most of the time she seemed to be confused and/or stressed. This is a nice little fun zone on the Ocean City boardwalk. If you need a break from the beach you can hit the boardwalk/Castaway Cove. There are about 10-15 rides including a Ferris wheel, bumper cars and swings. The tickets are a little pricey-roughly $1 per ticket. Our kids love it here. And I love that the tickets don't expire. I keep them In my purse for that off moment where we randomly decide to go. The kids usually do a few rides and we call it quits and walk on the boardwalk. Each time we go the kids get a little bit more adventurous and try a bigger ride. I'm glad we live so close! read more

This pier has a decent assortment of rides for both younger kids and up to adult ages. The pier is very clean and has friendly service. The biggest problem is the prices. The are purely outrageous for the type of rides they offer. It can cost up to 6 bucks per person per ride here. So be prepared to bring a fat wallet or purse. It is exorbitantly expensive. When you consider it cost about 50 bucks (35 bucks online)for a day at Great Adventure and they offer far many more and better rides this place is a pure rip-off and is gouging people. We spent 30 bucks for 44 tickets and went on 5 rides for 2 people. That is outrageous. Avoid this place unless you have money to burn. If you don't have money to burn then save the amusement park rides for Great Adventure which is a far better value. read more

A really nice assortment of rides and games. They have a really good age range at Castaway Cove, with the classic merry-go-round and train for really young to the GaleForce roller coaster for older kids and adults. Lots of rides to choose from, somewhat better then normal food/drink stands (ex: Kohr's ice cream is there, but so is Dairy Queen and Dippin Dots). Also, it was really nice to have actual paper tickets again rather then a card, so much easier to explain to kids that when the tickets are gone then it's time to move on. read more

I have been coming to Playland since I was a child. It is my favorite park in Ocean City. It has rides and attractions for kids and adults alike (my favorites are the Double Shot, Tilt-a-Whirl and pirate ship (the Buccaneer). It seems like they add something new and fun every year. You can not only go on rides, but also play carnival games, get some Dairy Queen, and visit an arcade. Additionally, as it is the only amusement park in Ocean City where I have not fallen off the merry go round when I was a child reaching for a gold ring, landed on my head, and had a major concussion that almost resulted in hospitalization, but definitely resulted in a lot of pain and throwing up (looking at you Wonderland), so I have a sweet spot for it. read more

The amusement park for the bigger set, 8 and up. There's still enough to do for the smaller kids 7 and under, but there are many more big rides and few for only teens and up. They added 7 new rides in 2013. Tropical Storm looked like death to me and my wife said it was way intense. Extreme Cyclone was the highlight. And I have to say, the Sea Dragon is the best pirate ship ride I've ever been on. The place could use a real expansion to take the place to the next level and compete with Wildwood. Enjoyed all of the rides here at Castaway Cove. The best ride is Gale Force which goes up to 60 mph and has corkscrew twists . The ride operators are very diligent and helpful. This amusement park has a vast variety of rides, but caters more towards the older, more thrill-seeking demographic. There are such classics as the bumper-cards (as well as a newer ride, the "Spin Zone", the Double Shot, where you get launched hundreds of feet into the air, the Xtreme Cyclone, where they do all sorts of stuff to you, such as whirling you 100 feet into the air, while turning your seat around. We had so much fun here that we spent two nights here during our stay at the shore. My 4 year old daughter loved it! Well, actually we all loved it. Located right on the center of the boardwalk around 10th street. Prices are more than fair in my opinion. We bought discounted tickets from our hotel. Even things like the carnival type games are reasonably priced and everyone wins a prize and they are actually nice prizes, better quality stuffed plush toys than most carnivals. We spent abut $100 for an entire nights worth of family fun, that included enough ride tickets for my daughter to ride about 8 or 9 rides and on some of the bigger rides my wife or I would join her so we used tickets for that as well, she played a few games and we had some refreshments. We were there during the week the ride lines were not too bad, the longest we waited in any line was about 10 minutes but I am sure this can vary. Rides take anywhere from 3 to 5 tickets. Everything seemed newer, clean and safe. I had no concerns with safety while riding the rides. If you go to the shore you need to make Castaway Cove one of your destinations. read more

If you go to the shore with kids, you have to make a trip to the boardwalk. Castaway cove has many fun rides. It is not of course Hershey Park but kids will have a great time and there are rides to get the adults moving as well. My favorite is the Tidal Wave but I call it the Frog Hopper because it's green and jumps you up and down while spinning you around. My second fav is the good ole swings, I love spinning my chair around and flying backwards. And for 6 tickets you can ride the Tornado (or whatever it's called, giant red thing), which I highly recommend, you will be freaking out, like you're about to come out of your seat. Buy a big book of tickets, they never expire so you can save some bucks and use any extras next year. read more
