Not a bad place to go and their prices are more reasonable for people who don't have $10,000 bicycles like me.

I recently purchased a Gazelle Medeo T9 City from PlayTri. They were very helpful, helping me select the bike that met my needs, including setting it up for a test ride. I was on vacation and lost my SRAM chain quick link. After calling every other store in the area this store was the only one that was able to help. The mechanic was able to fine a spare and allowed me to ride on my vacation. Truly grateful for the extra effort otherwise I would have shipped my bike for nothing. read more

My friend (who does not have Yelp) went here to fix a flat tire and had a very bad experience. She was spoken down to multiple times (mind you, she is an elite athlete), and was made fun of for her bike (an old road bike that she just uses as a commuter now). It also took 45 minutes to change the flat tire....and no one acknowledged that it took so long. Really hope the people working here think a little more about how they speak to their customers and learn how to fix a flat! read more

One of the best customer experiences I have ever had!!! I went to the big boxes first because I didn't think any of the local bike shops would be open. Everywhere I went the bike and fitness isles looked like they had been looted due to high demand during home confinement. I almost gave up. So glad I happened by Playtri! 3 reasons to LOVE this shop...#1 the bikes!!! I got my "dream bike"- a super cute, white Bianchi with a tan leather saddle that looks like your favorite beach cruiser and a sexy street racer had a baby! #2 the team!!! Amy and Ariel were EXCEPTIONAL - incredibly helpful. I asked a potentially awkward question. It was something like "I am concerned that I might regret this purchase after confinement when bikes become plentiful again...how fair is this price?" Amy responded in a way that made me feel completely comfortable for asking and gave me the confidence I needed to commit. #3 Ariel!! I know I already mentioned him but seriously, this dude is the Obi Wan Kenobi of bike prep. The way he prepared my bike to go home, applying all of the accessories I picked out with such precision and attention to the aesthetics was pure MASTERY! Late last year I purchased an electric bike from an online retailer. I was new to the area and started calling around for a shop that would properly assemble and tune the bike. I wa surprised at how many shops hr in the area wouldn't even entertain the idea. Finally I found this place and have been back several times for some up keep and for my second assembly for bike number two. Although I could have purchased accessories online, I wanted to make sure I purchased from them directly. Last week I went back for a new rear tire. They were able to get me in and out got away. BUYER BEWARE!! Playtri sold me a $300 bike for $600. So we bought a bike on Sunday 1/3/21. It was a Retrospec and the price was $600 plus tax. To be fair, I should have done my research before buying, but I didn't. We brought the bike home and were generally happy with it. The next morning I was doing some research online and noticed that the manufacturer (Retrospec) was selling the same bike online for only $300. I called Playtri and spoke with the manager, Hugo. I asked how can they sell a $300 bike for twice the MSRP? Hugo told me that Playtri's price is based on the "compare to" price (shown as "traditional retail" with the price crossed out) on the Retrospec website, Playtri then also adds shipping charges from the manufacturer and assembly charges. All this adds up to $600 for a $300 bike. I told Hugo that I can buy the same bike online at Retrospec for $300. Hugo told me that I can't buy a bike from the website, they are always sold out and will never be in stock. After the phone call I went on the Retrospec website and found numerous bikes in stock ready to ship. Hugo told me that I will have to pay shipping if I order from Retrospec, even though their website states "free shipping on all orders over $35" Hugo told me that free shipping doesn't apply to bikes. I went to the website and went through checkout process. Free ground shipping is confirmed. Hugo told me this is the business model for Retrospec. They price things differently on their website than say Trek or Liv does. They show a different price on the website then charge a different price in the store, where Trek for instance the website/store price is always the same. I then called Two Broke Spokes in Tampa. They have multiple Retrospec bikes in stock with prices only $30 over the MSRP price shown on the Retrospec website. They confirmed the advertised price is all inclusive of everything excluding taxes. I'm ok with $30, which is probably a reasonable assembly fee. The next day I went back to the store to speak with Hugo again. I showed him the print outs of my order from Retrospec showing the bike in stock, at the advertised price with free shipping. I showed him the printout from Two Broke Spokes in Tampa showing the same bike, in stock, for $330. At this point he didn't have any other defense for the pricing and basically told me "it is what it is". I once again asked for a refund and was told the owner sets the refund policy and there is nothing he can do about it. I asked Hugo to call the owner and ask for an exception, which he did, and the owner still said no refund. So the moral of this story? Do your research before you make a large purchase like this. I realize that bikes are in short supply right now and the law of supply and demand dictates prices to some extent. I can understand this type of price gauging on craigslist or ebay. But for a supposedly reputable retailer to double the price on a bike is just shady and dishonest. If you are OK with paying $600 for a $300 bike then that is your choice, but I won't be spending any more of my money in this store. There are plenty of honest dealers in Sarasota that don't play these kind of games. read more

Uniquely excellent customer service! I had a blowout after riding a bike trail and my old bike store had closed. I came in and Hugo listened to what happened and after looking the bike over, changed one tube and both tires WHILE I WAITED in about 10 minutes.
