It was my 2nd time coming here with my wife and the food is really good. The table side guacamole is delicious. I ordered their chicken enchiladas and they were really good that I would order it again. The service was really good our waiter Pablo was so nice and very friendly he checked on my wife and I to make sure we were ok. I think the manager was around to check on tables and he was really nice and the person who brought our food out to us was really nice too. The restaurant was clean and nice atmosphere. It was our first visit to this restaurant. We did not have to wait although the restaurant was very busy. We made our order which arrived promptly. It was very good. Got the bill, entered a 10% tip for $50 bill. One day later my credit card company asked if we left a 20% tip. Called the restaurant and voiced my issue. They refunded $10 which was very kind. I personally have been coming here for years just to get that table side guacamole! It is always perfect and delicious and pairs wonderful with a margarita! Our recent experience I tried some new things and everything was very good and big portions. We of course got the table side guac which my little one also loves. My husband got the Steak Fajitas, I got the Enchiladas El Jefe and a chili rellano. Great food for the price and I will always keep coming in for the margaritas. read more

10/15/1023 Sunday for a late dinner and the place was rocking! While I have had better Mexican food, it was the best Mexican food that I've had in several years!!! The complimentary salsa (light and fresh), a white dip (that was great) and tortilla chips were excellent. Appetizer Empanada Plate (2 shredded beef and 2 shredded chicken) with quest dip on the side. The outside was crispy not oily at all and the insides were delicious! Entree #1 Burrito Deluxe with Spanish Rice (1 burrito was chicken the other was beef), all of it perfectly cooked and tasty. Plaza Azteca tried charging my friend $9.00 for a side of cheese sauce for her empanadas. I ordered 1 chili relano, but I wanted it as a meal with rice and beans. It is usually just a side dish. They charged me $19.00 for the chili relano and $5.50 for my side of rice and $5.50 for a side of beans. I love this restaurant. I have never had bad food here, though my fellow diners have suffered some disappointments. That falls down to their choices -- a Taco Salad Bowl, which is the most Americanized fake mex food ever -- so I don't hold that against this place. They give the usual complimentary tortilla chips -- homemade of course -- and their own picante sauce as well as some sort of creamy salad dressing-like dipping sauce. I've tried a few different dishes, generally selecting one of their specialty/recommended items. My first time, I got their Enchiladas Suizas, which were great. On other visits, I've had their fajitas and other things, but for the past few visits I've fallen in love with their Burrito San Jose. It's a perfect combination of Chorizo, chicken, rice, beans, queso blanco, and pico de gallo, and the portion is extremely generous. It's often busy, and can be quite noisy at times. But it's clean and well-appointed, with a mexican/aztec kind of theme. It's a little strange near holidays when they decorate the temple-esque stone carvings with St Patrick's Day or Easter decorations, but they certainly do make an effort to create a welcoming place. A buddy and i were here for lunch on a Tuesday. I had the lunch special birria tacos. Really tasty. 2 tacos and the rice and beans for the side were a perfect amount for lunch. Chips and salsa are top-notch IMHO, just don't fill up on them before your meal comes! As the millennial hipsters might say, this place is "solid" or "on-point" or whatever hyperbole they're using these days... I'll just use the word that we've used for generations and say it's "great". read more

While Plaza Azteca is not "authentic Mexican food," it's still very good and the staff are always very attentive. Prices are reasonable and portions are plentiful. We were seated immediately on a Thursday night and received our food quickly. The fajitas are always on point and the combination entrees are delicious. Definitely recommend. read more

This used to be an excellent restaurant with a well executed menu. It was at one time my favorite Mexican restaurant and I ate here fairly regularly for many years. Unfortunately, the food quality has significantly declined in the last couple years with a noticeable decline post-Covid. The restaurant used to make delicious freshly made rice and beans, but have since switched to a prepackaged out of the can/box product. There used to be a lot more fresh produce on the plates. Everything now tastes like low quality overly processed food. After a couple of bad visits with everyone in my family noticing the difference we've decided we won't be coming back. read more

This is a really good place, the restaurant is nice and super clean, and I would've given 5 stars but our food was oddly served warm not hot. Dave was our server and he was excellent as well as those that brought our food to the table. Started with excellent chips and two salsas. Ordered cheese enchiladas, enchiladas chipotle, chicken quesadilla, rice, refried and black beans. All delicious but were warm, for example the cheese wasn't fully melted on the cheese enchiladas and inside of a beef enchilada was barely warm, even though the plate was hot. A poor experience at a competing Mexican restaurant led us here. We went on a Tuesday night just after the height of the dinner hour. Let me start with atmosphere. There is authentic Latino music playing. It has the feel of a sports bar coupled with a quaint family dining establishment South of the border. Many Latinos work there which only adds to the charming authenticity of the place. The staff was very helpful, courteous and kind. Smiles abounded. Our waiter was a charming young man with a winsome smile and a true desire to make our experience above and beyond. He truly worked the table. He was on top of our drink orders, and bussed our table as he went. The menu was impressive, almost a book in itself. Chips and salsa were a table treat. Our dining experience began with a bowl of guacamole. Ordered as an appetizer, the bowl is made right in front of you from fresh, whole ingredients. (Be prepared with a cash tip). I ordered a Fajita Chihuahua, a timeless blend of chicken, shrimp and bacon. It came to the table sizzling like a fajita should. There was plenty of pico, rice, beans and sour cream to go around. My only real complaint was that I wished they had given me more than three tortilla shells. I'm sure this could have been rectified with a modest up charge. The food was delicious and more than I could enjoy in one sitting. My wife also enjoyed a fajita of her choosing. During our meal a manager checked in with us to make sure our experience was a pleasant one. After a thoroughly filling meal, I enjoyed a Plaza Azteca Margarita. It was a true treat. As we were quite full, we chose not to do desert. This establishment does a very good job or separating the bar from the family dining experience, for those not comfortable with the bar atmosphere. This place is classy. It was very busy the night we ate there, but we were seated immediately upon entry. Restrooms were clean. Parking was plenty and well lit. Our food was really REALLY good at this restaurant. Was worried about the power wheelchair being able to fit inside the restaurant but we were accommodated right away. Our waitress was attentive and efficient. I ordered ceviche for an appetizer and it was AMAZING, it was also made table side which was very nice and the bowl looked so appetizing once made. I ordered a seafood dish, with whitefish and it was served with a lobster bisque..best plate I have had in a long time and we eat out often. My husband had the chicken and spinach, he loved it but it comes with a strong bacon flavor in the sauce and I don't prefer bacon in sauce so for me it was not "it". Our food was at our table in less than 20 minutes and that was definitely a wow factor. Someone came to our table to welcome us to the restaurant and that is a very nice thing to do for us! This restaurant is top notch in food, service and atmosphere. I would definitely recommend it to others and we will be going back often. I wanted to rate this five stars but I had to take a star away because it felt a little cramped during our meal. I believe it was due to us having a power wheelchair and so we had to sit at a table in the back but it was very close to the booths so it felt as though we were without much privacy. We noticed a few people staring at my husband in awe because he was in a wheelchair. It was also very hot, I think that maybe there was an issue with the air conditioning but I was actually beginning to sweat and that put a damper on the evening. I wish they would have told us right away that they were having problems with the air because my husband is handicapped and I have to move around a lot in order to take care of him so sweating in the restaurant we are trying to enjoy a meal in is not my idea of a great night. We did order drinks, my husband ordered a cosmopolitan and I had the strawberry daiquiri, was good but for the daiquiri the glass was smaller than I am used to and I prefer my frozen drinks to be smooth like slurpee-ish rather than slushy-ish. The taste was there but I had ordered an additional shot in mine. If I hadn't, I would have probably been disappointed because the taste was so subtle and I prefer my drinks to kick a bit. ISCRIMINATION AGAINST DISABILITY! For context I have a service dog with her harness, a leash and a treat bag. After informing the manager Fernando and the owner about the ADA (American with Disabilities Act of 1990) laws regarding service dogs I was told that I needed to leave because I did not have an ID or a harness that said service dog, which is illegal to ask for. I explained to him as well how those are a SCAM and can be purchased online; I showed them the ADA page online. The cops were called and never came to me. After explaining my disability (which is in my legal right not to) and the type of work my service dog does I was told that he doesn't have proof of my disability to say that I am telling the truth. I need my service dog as any other person with a physical disability needs it. What happened is discrimination. I decided to leave because I do not want to give money to this restaurant after the way I was treated. No cop ever came to kick me out or even speak to me around the matter and of course not I am acting within my legal right. I was told I could stay after this shameful event, but why would I. For the rest of the night I had to deal with panic attacks because of their threats with cops. If you have a disability or care about anyone who does DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. No one with a disability deserves to be treated any less than any human being specially on 2024. I will add a picture of the law below. read more

This place amazes me. The dining room is sprawling, yet no matter the night, you will be seated almost immediately. Even on Friday and Saturday nights when the parking lot is packed, I have never had to wait more than five minutes to be seated. When I see a busy restaurant and get seated so quickly, I have a fear that the service will suffer (are they just trying to get butts in seats? is the staff going to be stretched too thin? How can the kitchen possibly keep up?). But somehow, some way, the food gets out in a timely fashion, and the servers are able to check up on you at regular intervals. Behind the scenes, the management must spend a lot of time training their staff, because the service really is phenomenal. Similarly sized chain restaurants in the area often collapse under the pressure of a packed house. But not here. The best fajitas in town are still at Alebrije, but for delicious homemade, table-side guacamole and a more expansive Mexican menu, Plaza Azteca can't be beat. read more

Our fav item to share is the Fajitas for Two which literally comes out sizzling, but I love the camarones gratinados appetizer, the chicken soup and the salads... husband loves the margaritas & chimichangas. The customer service here is fantastic. Our server should honestly be working in a fine dining restaurant in a major city. I only wish I had caught his name, as it wasn't on the bill. The food is some of the best Tex-Mex I've had in PA. The food costs a couple dollars more a plate than a "normal" Mexican restaurant but the food is way superior to any of them. It is a complete family atmosphere and when you order the guacamole it is made table side to order. They even ask what your heat level likes are. This will be my new staple go to when visiting the in-laws in the area. read more
