Don't dare park in the lot. Was there less than 5 minutes and got hassled when the sign says 15 minute parking. Additionally, another car was parked there longer than 15 minutes and they weren't chased out. Had no intention of staying 15 minutes. Now they lost a customer. read more

My friends family swears by the apple turnovers here. I wasn't such a huge fan, I feel like a turnover should be delicate and crispy. This was very soft and mushy. The filling was good though, much like the chicken empanadas. Super super soft, no crunch to it at all but the filling was tasty. The personal pizzas here stole the show. They were really nice, the sauce was delicious, very thin crust. I would come back just for the pizza. Weird, I know. I also tried a peanut butter cup. It was good but nothing to write home about. Very bland, not too sweet which isn't a bad thing. It's not something I would get again. They have an excellent selection of breads. A wall full of Italian breads. There's also a coffee station and a few small tables to sit and enjoy your treats. I like that they offer a lot of savory options. They had egg sandwiches available too. I was able to have another peanut butter and jelly donut, but unlike the last few times I have had one here, it was not as good. First, it was much smaller than previous visits. It could have just been one of those days, but the size was a big disappointment. The other issue was that it was not as tasty and delicious. There just seemed to be something lacking when I ate the donut this time around. It was still appetizing, but not as refreshing as I remember. Depends what you're using them for. This is the perfect roll for soft butter or for dipping in herbed olive oil. Also perfect for sandwiches. This review is for a chocolate cake that Boyfriend ordered for my birthday. It was fabulous, with fresh fruit in it and a really nice buttercream frosting. Everybody was really pleasantly surprised by how good the cake was, since we generally do ice cream cakes for birthdays, and was asking where it came from. He brought it over on a Saturday morning, and it was enjoyed by everybody at my birthday party. My roommates and I were still finishing it on Wednesday and the cake was still really moist. read more

Growing up in the area, this was the bakery to go, but they have been declining. In the past couple of months, I bought a cake here for someone's birthday. I asked them to write Happy Birthday on it and the lady asked me how to spell it. And afterwards, the writing looked like something a kid would write. It looked horrible. I ended up giving it to my friend and lied and said I dropped it, which is why it looked like that. I mean, if you know you can't write on the cake nicely, you should never do it in the first place. Apple pie w green mold. Yum. I called and they seem like it happens often. Told me to come in and they will give me a new pie. Besides the pie, wr also got 6 brownies whixh also tasted old. And 6 pastries, which I would have been better off getting at shop rite. As a strong believer in supporting local businesses, I've tried (Lord! How I've tried!!) to continue my patronage of the Plaza Pastry Shop throughout the past 10 years now. The quality of the pastries and cakes is very hit or miss. The girls who work there are really nice but the woman who owns/runs the place is an absolute misery. I can't remember the last time I purchased anything from her without being made to feel like she's doing me a great big favor. Let's also not forget the creepy old men who sit inside the place from dawn to dusk, leering at everyone I do think their almond cheese ring is delicious (when it's fresh) but that alone is no longer enough to keep me as a customer. I used to frequent this bakery a few years back, everything was top notch. The past year, maybe two....I've received so many stale baked items. They taste old. The custard cups, cupcakes, cannoli's,specifically. I was so disappointed because I really used to love this place. The key to this bakery is the bread! Whenever I travel to my home town in Long Island to visit family, they anticipate the 5 or so loafs of french bread I will be carrying from Plaza. Everyone loves the taste of their bread because it is always fresh, has real flavor and makes everything taste better. Its like when your favorite pizza place makes the best crust and so no one else compares. There are a group of locals who enjoy gathering at the shop, but I would not call them creepy, just that they found a great environment to meet and socialize with their the old school buddies. Plaza also makes donuts and coffee cake that rival, and in many cases surpass the best bakeries in these parts! Try them for yourself, but get there early or selection will be slim to none. Now, I must admit on the rare occasion I have had an issue with the freshness of their cakes so I am careful with that and focus mostly on the fresh baked bread and donuts. I stopped buying cakes at Plaza about a year ago because they were always stale. I was still buying bread and donuts there. Today 6/27/16 I bought 8 donuts, the Jelly Donuts were stale and tasted a week old. The Boston Cream had about a dime size of cream in them. The two older women that work there lie right to your face, They tell you it was just made when they know they are stale. This is the only bakery I know of that sells donuts days after they are made. No more Plaza for me. read more

This is a great bakery. I've been ordering 2 sheet cakes every year for the last 4 years along with special birthday cakes. Their cakes are always super fresh, we always get whipped cream and the fillings are delicious. We have never had a cake we did not love. Can't say that about some other bakeries we have used.
