Wow! It was three years ago, I wrote the review of the taco salad and sadly the review is no longer positive. Three of us ordered the beef taco salad and all three of us were extremely disappointed . It lacked almost all standard ingredients it was just a pile of lettuce with unseasoned ground beef and refried beans ! There was absolutely no heat , flavor or spice . It was missing a key ingredient mentioned on the menu cheese! There was one sliced SANDWICH style cut tomato on top of the taco salad. The price has gone up and portion size is smaller. Service was provided, the guy was nice although dismissive. The food though; I guess since I'm from New York I have higher expectations when it comes to traditional Mexican food. The look of the food was horrible, but we still gave it a chance, to no surprise the food was also horrible. I had one bite off my quesadilla and found myself at a total loss of appetite. The "horchata" or more like horchata flavored Cool-aid was extremely disappointing, it even came in a 5oz plastic cup for kids! we paid for two adults meals ($52.80) Anyway I hope I never find myself hungry and this being the only available place in earth. If there were an option for zero stars, Plaza Tapatia would receive one. Earlier this week, four friends and I stopped in for some chips and a quick drink after school. Unfortunately, from the moment we walked in, the experience was disappointing. We were never greeted by a hostess, so after waiting around, we seated ourselves at the bar. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, the service never improved. We were not acknowledged for over 30 minutes and only received service after going up to the host stand ourselves to flag someone down. The one positive aspect was that the food and drinks came out quickly and were actually very good! The chips and margaritas were excellent, which makes writing this review even more disappointing. The biggest issue came when we received the bill, which was completely incorrect. After checking the menu online and realizing we had been charged for the wrong items, we called the restaurant for clarification. The server who answered was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. Instead of resolving the mistake, they attempted to charge us even more. To top it all off, the restaurant was filled with loud, underage drinkers, which only made the atmosphere worse. Overall, if you are looking for a pleasant dining experience with competent customer service, this is not the place to go. read more

We were off to a very slow start. ( service) The decor was nice however the chairs at bar are wobble and not same height. There were many employees around wish someone could have stepped in and offered to start us off. I will add once assisted by the bartender he was great friendly etc. The food was not. Tacos just lettuce and cheese no sour cream nor salsa. my chicken enchilada lacked flavor. I think they forgot cilantro and garlic and the salt. Chips did come warm but the salsa was like soup the guacamole was okay fresh. read more

The food was ok. The bathrooms have a sign not to flush the toliet paper, put it in the trash and then the toliet didn't flush. The whole restaurant is a little run down. read more

Love this place usually, but when you order $60 worth of food to go plus $8 bowls(2) of salsas and they give you one tiny bag of chips you question your previous good experiences. read more

We went to the Salisbury location. We arrived when they just opened, so we were the only ones there and seated immediately. They waiter took our drink order. I know it was lunchtime, but I was really looking to get a tall, cold XX draft. They did have it and did not disappoint. I ordered the biggest burrito they serve. It was amazing. Full of flavor with rice and beans. I wasn't able to eat it all, but it's not a problem. I'll have it for lunch tomorrow.. The other order was a taco salad. It wasn't served in a shell bowl like I normally see it in, but it tasted good and was the perfect amount for lunchtime meals. We will be going back to try other items on the menu. Definitely our go to Mexican restaurant. read more

We had quite a large party come in for a (light) dinner and drinks. Nothing too crazy, I didn't think at least. There were twelve of us all together. We ordered some pitchers of margaritas and beer which were tasty. I had a quesadilla which had kind of an odd texture. Besides the food and drinks, which were all okay, I felt like the staff just wanted us to leave- I didn't think we were there for too long, and didn't think we were causing any issues, but some of the staff stood behind our table eyeing us. It felt a tad uncomfortable. Oh well, right? I don't know if I would come back, at least not with a group! read more

I should admit, we are partial to Mexican food, so my base for rating is normally higher. We got the 3 tamales (they only have chicken), and my son got a burrito and enchilada. Price was good and good was good. Service was prompt and attentive. I like the "spicy ranch" (or whatever it was) that came as a chip dip. Go here every time we go through the area. read more

This restaurant has 2 locations in Salisbury so it makes it easy for those who live on the other end of the city. The food here is consistently good. Serving time is quick. Portion size is good (depending on the dish, enough to take home for a second meal for the next day). The dining room has a good feel to it when you walk in. Mexican food is not something I eat on a regular basis but when I do it's normally at this restaurant. read more

Service was good. Food arrived quickly and it was nice & hot. Food was good except that it was VERY salty. My daughter could not finish her dinner because it was so salty. Not sure if that's the norm or if we just went on a bad day. Please cut back in the salt! There is salt on the table if we need to add it. They last several times we've been it's not been the Plaza we have grown to love.... But today was just down right subpar. Our waiter today just sucked. Very inattentive. He took our order, then disappeared. We watched as others that came in after us got their food and ??? Finally we got our food.. it was barely warm? Worst experience ever. I was in the area for the weekend and tried this Mexican place but food & service is not good at all. Starting with the drinks... no matter what you order, all drinks taste like 80% water. Than we order fajitas and the amount of steak, chicken or shrimps is so poor for the size of the dish, and lastly, the service... two waiters were arguing in front of us because one of them didn't request the right dish my friend ordered. I love this restaurant. The food is great, big menu, the drinks are good and reasonably priced. The service is always excellent and usually very fast. I recommend the tacos el pastor my favorite dish, but I have tried almost everything on the menu and it is always good. I have probably been to this restaurant more times than any other in my life and have many fond memories here with friends and family. Highly recommend. read more

Big menu to choose from and an impressively clean place. We've been in some seriously dirty restaurants lately so this was a nice change. Service was great, food came out quickly and hot. I had a chorizo chicken entree that came with tortillas so I put them together myself which worked out well. Added some Tapatio and good to go. I stopped here for dinner Sunday. After my free chips and salsa, I found my new favorite dish, Avocado Chicken Salad. The waiter recommended it and he was spot on. For a hot day, it was perfectly prepared with plenty of grilled chicken and tortilla strips, avocado and plenty of salad ingredients. I loved it!
