Outside some rooms. Nice to sit and have a glass of wine or coffee.

It was wonderful! The staff, the gardens, the room was clean and everything in the room was updated beautifully. I had a chance to meet one of the owners and the person that takes care of the property. It's like staying in the middle of one of the finest Japanese gardens. Put that on top of Pleasant Bay, and if you're like me, it's heaven. If you go here, take some time to enjoy the property. I know the Cape has so much to offer, but if you're looking to relax, take a day here just to absorb the energy. There's a beautiful pool and hot tub for you to enjoy too.

Found this amazing little place in Chatham and unfortunately only had 1 night to stay there but I could have stayed for a month. Josh was outstanding at check in, getting us settled and showing us where and how to get to everything in town. You get the feeling that the whole property is a garden and they have some cottages hidden amongst the foliage. You literally have to walk a gravel path to get to your cottage which adds to the atmosphere and the mystique. Our cottage was small but updated and super clean with a keurig coffee maker. Our cottage was right next to a loaded Koi pond with a small waterfall. Just stand on the edge of the pond and all the Koi will race over to you. Need to come back here and spend a week, I very much recommend this property.

We've been coming here for over 20 years, so when it came time to celebrate our 40th anniversary with family, who is now scattered around the country, it only made sense that we should do it here. The rooms are great, facilities are in wonderful shape, the staff couldn't be any nicer. Johnny always makes our experience special for us.

Had a really nice stay at the Pleasant Bay Resort. Rooms were very modern, clean and comfortable. Grounds were beautiful with 7 acres of trees, plants and gardens. We especially loved the beautiful pool and jacuzzi, with plenty of chairs for lounging. You could even order lunch and wine poolside from 12-3. Breakfast was available for pick-up in the lobby for reasonable charge. And they had free beach chairs, towels, umbrellas and games to check out. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Totally recommend.

Main entrance! It's such a nice place and as the name describes very pleasant

What an absolute great stay. From the moment we checked in. The front desk crew were very kind and helpful and easily switched my room for me to a pet friendly because I screwed up online:) The room was immaculate and clean.....also it is a very tranquil and peaceful area. The location is amazing so close to Nauset Beach and also close to downtown Chatham...There is a beautiful coy pond on site with huge fish....so cool ....oh and the shower head in the room was the best I've experienced!!! I highly recommend this place for a moderately priced hotel.....FOR SURE!!!!

Beautiful, peaceful, clean, quite - seriously what more do you need! Oh, our dog Stella could come too! Pretty much PERFECTION for us! We stayed in a newly renovated room with a completely enclosed deck (perfect for the dog). The grounds are beautiful and AMAZING!!! The pool has a waterfall, plenty of seating options and they serve wine and beer - again, pretty much perfection in our book! Cher was lovely to talk to and had lots of suggestions for local spots and Johnny at the desk was an excellent host! We are totally enjoying our stay at Pleasant Bay Resort and cannot wait you come back!!!

My family and I enjoyed a great week at Pleasent Bay Village Resort. Let me just say that John at the front desk was one of the nicest, welcoming people I ever met. I can't stress how clean and sanitized this resort is. The pool is large enough to social distance from other families/ people, the pool stairs and tables were cleaned every ten mins. Not to mention the pool is saltwater and heated. My kids loved waking up in the morning, walking over to the koi pond, then making their way to the little park area to have breakfast. The cafe was not opened during our stay due to COVID but there is a cute little cafe, only 5 min ride for breakfast, called Chatham Perk. We booked a double queen room and it was spacious for our family. This property is so clean, beautiful and scenic. I look forward to returning to this property soon!

We knew it changed hands and saw online how much it changed but still decided to come back. Soooo.. The room was like a closet, the bathroom you probably can do a couple of functions at once due to the size of it. Every night was a dance trying to get into bed without hitting my head on the TV that hangs on the wall. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious! The first time we stayed here we stayed in a much larger room, but it was not available when we booked this trip. The hotel lobby seems kind of cold. Before all the renovations it was a warm, welcoming space. Will we come back? Most likely because it is very sentimental to us, but we will never stay in that tiny room ever again.

The staff works hard to find out everyone's names. They even cleaned my sunglasses when I left it in the room and put a lens cleaning wipe next to it as well. On the flipside, our room was extraordinarily small - especially for the price point. We're talking tiny New York bedroom small where there's hardly room for more than a bed and nightstand. The bathroom is also minuscule with barely a free inch of space. Hardly what I can call 5 stars - at best 3 stars, and I'm being generous here. Yes, the rooms are renovated. But the house is 200 yrs old and you can't make a 5 ft bathroom feel like a palace no matter how much marble you slap on the walls. So I settled on a 4 to balance both sides. But I would honestly say, once again, that the service was some of the best I've ever experienced at a hotel. And that might keep me coming back - maybe in a bigger room, though.

The trip got off to a poor start when we were shown to our rooms and found that one of them had a "private bathroom just down the hall." We never expected that a guest room costing more than $450/night would not be ensuite. When we checked with the proprietors about this and asked if we could have another room, we were told they were full up and that we "just had to accept that we had made a poor choice." That was certainly the case as our interaction with the owners was quite an unpleasant experience. Many reviews mention that the Inn is "Welcoming," but for us it was anything but. The owners blamed us (apparently we didn't read the fine print) and they told us that they would be happy to have us leave and forfeit our deposit. We didn't. We stuck it out. The experience and the bathroom situation were a shame because there is a lot to like at the Inn. Apart from the owners, the staff were kind and helpful, the building and grounds are very attractive, the breakfast delicious, and the location was excellent.

In warmer months, there's a small porch off of this room as well (besides temperature, its a little too exposed to use in the winter as well). In the interest of indulging in some booze, we walked to two different restaurants in the evening: the Red Nun (straightforward cape sports pub) and Campari's. However, the walk to Campari's was a bit of a deathtrap considering there were no streetlights or sidewalks for much of the way. Go to to Red Nun if you value your life. Do not stay at for Hawthorne Motel…read more It saddens me to have to say that the quality of management has really depreciated so badly I would never stay at this motel again. My husband and I have stayed here for 10 years and this year with the management being Jeff and Kari we experienced the worst in hospitality that we have experienced in our 62 years of life My husband and I were traveling with our 2-year-old granddaughter and have stayed here for the past 3 years with her. Although the accommodations were modest at best we were treated well, and always returned same time each year. This year unfortunately we were met by Jeff who immediately started complaining about hot having to manage this because there wasn't anybody else in the family to do it. He was very aware that we will bring in our granddaughter asked if we even needed a pack and flight which we did not we had accommodations for her for the floor. The next day when I saw Jeff with my granddaughter he waved and said hi Gramm! Although we noticed a difference in the accommodations at the motel to name a few there was no luggage cart ( Jeff complained he was tired of people hitting the air-conditioning units with it) a soda machine ( he was tired of fixing it) there were no more small table next to the lawn chairs, we were provided a quarter of a sponge which was used on the sink when we arrived, a quarter paper towels in the paper towel holder a quarter toilet paper in the toilet paper dispenser - seemed like there was a need to severely cut costs ? In the bathtub the safety handle collapsed when used by my granddaughter ! A lamp was broken in the room and when I put it outside to be taken by housekeeping staff, Jeff appeared annoyed and short with my husband. By the third morning my husband was asked to be spoken to by Jeff and my son was also present. He proceeded to say how disruptive we were and that he was receiving complaints about us from other guests ! ( we had been there less than 48 hours at this time with our granddaughter ) Interesting our neighbors next door who we knew from last year told us they did not hear a thing and was shocked to hear this as well, " wow they really made you feel unwanted didn't they/" Jeff noted that I called tomy husband to bring her back from the car and felt that was disruptive. I've never been treated so offensively in a place that supposed to be hospitality focused in my life. Jeff even went on to say that a guest left " early" come to find out normal departure time was 11 and she said she left at 8 because we were noisy... We leave our room by 715am ! Follow on conversation with Jeff and Kari left us to feel like we were burden, unwanted and severely disrespectful of others and they had no choice but to put us in our place! They provided no viable explanation of disruptive behaviors that we would think would warrant this horrible treatment . My husband and I decided this was not a place we felt comfortable staying in for 1 more minute and left 3 days early. Kari and Jeff refused to refund our 3 nights stay- "good luck with that your card was aready charged" she smirked. So this is what it's come to at the Hawthorne Motel we will not be back and do not recommend others to visit unless they want to be subjected to an unstable unhappy individuals unwelcoming ways. We were woken up multiple nights because the upstairs guests were walking around. Yes, plain footsteps - not even stomping - were very audible. For close to 1k a night, this shouldnt have happened. My cheap grad school duplex apartment didn't even have walls this thin! -Friction prevented us from giving the resort more money. There's room service but no menu in the room and it wasn't easily found online either. And we were so ready to drop a good amount of money on poolside drinks and food but nobody waited on us both times we were at the pool. (They did happen to wait on the social media star who was present, which was very obvious, and we made eye contact with another family who shrugged because they hadn't been waited on either.) And finally the coffee shop closed at noon. We would have happily patronized the shop for a treat and a coffee and were disappointed to find it closed so early. -Our perception was that there was nothing going on at the Wequassett. We stayed in June (and received the May newsletter; perhaps that would've given us more info if we had the correct one?) We had expected the poolside bar to be open. Maybe some live music. Smores for the kids by the fire (we would've purchased this.) So many opportunities for improvement! We stayed at the cliff house in Maine last year and there was a number displayed around the resort that you could text and they'd send a message with info about was going on at the hotel that week! Such a memorable touch - Wequasset could consider something like this. All in all, not awful, but not blow-your-socks-off fantastic, either. Just plain average in the realm of resorts.

Every single time we visited, the service has been impeccable and I find it hard to think about any other resort that can get even close to Wequassett. The grounds are perfectly kept and the rooms have been recently renovated. And although, there's a trend even with classic high-end resorts (St. Regis, J.W., Ritz-Carlton) to make their renovations a little too modern for my taste, Wequassett successfully kept their old school charm. We always stay at their Signature Water View King rooms (and book well in advance as there's only a few of these) so I can't speak of other room types. The amenities are flawless and even though the main pool gets VERY crowded during summer weekends, the pool attendant always found 2 chairs for us. My only recommendation for this property is to have a backup plan for the main pool. Perhaps installing a deck and adding some more chairs there to accommodate more guests that prefer the beach vs. the pool.

Unfortunately, the inn recently changed hands and is no longer the warm, lovely, welcoming place that we knew. The first bad omen came at check-in when my husband inquired about the breakfast schedule and was told, "we're no longer serving breakfast because the kitchen is under renovation, but there are plenty of places in town where you can buy it." When I responded that the inn had always served breakfast, had advertised it, and that we were expecting it, the receptionist replied that the new owners had taken this amenity off the official website, and management was WORKING ON getting it removed from all other booking websites. Never were the words, "sorry" or "reimburse" uttered. When we arrived at our room in the carriage house, we found a dark, dingy, shabby room. Two of the three ceiling lights were out, making it impossible to read in the room. Moreover, there was no telephone to reach the front desk in the main inn, no instructions on how to use the TV, so we could not figure out how to get it to keep a signal, and absolutely no amenities that one would expect in a room that cost $2047.79 for three nights - not even a bottle of water. On top of that, we had to walk over bird feces covering the steps into our room, and the carpet was disgustingly filthy looking, with huge, dark stains all over it. The thought of getting up in the middle of the night barefoot and walking on such a carpet is disgusting (not to mention unhealthy, with bird feces tracked in on our shoes). When my husband took the ice bucket to the main building to get ice, the manager informed him that the ice machine was broken. Again, no word of apology. When he told her about the bird feces all over the steps, she replied,"we can't control the birds." Apparently, she never heard of using a hose and perhaps a brush. The manager's defensive, combative attitude was the last straw. When my husband expressed his frustration about all the problems with the room and her lack of interest in addressing any of our concerns, the manager told him that that if he didn't like it, he could leave. He said he might take her up on that, but he would want all his money back if we left. Shortly thereafter, the manager showed up at our room ostensibly to demonstrate how to work the TV (and probably to show that my husband was an idiot for not knowing how to manipulate the two remote controls for an unfamiliar TV). Since the manager was in our room, I pointed out the stains all over the carpet. She claimed that it had been cleaned. When I said that I could not believe anyone would pay for such poor work, she told me that if I didn't like it, I should call the carpet cleaning company! What!!! I told her that they had obviously opened too soon and were definitely not ready to handle guests. Fortunately, we were able to find wonderful lodging elsewhere in town and left. True to her word, the manager did refund our $2047.79.

Stumbling and bumbling into the Inn, door slamming, up the stairs, down the hall into his/her/their room, another slam. No regard for others at 12:30 am. Aside from this, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, including a continental breakfast each morning. The Wild Goose Tavern is part of the premise. Quiet as well, but each night diners filled the windows over looking Main Street and Kate Gould Park.

Front yard is popular with the local bunnies if you're into that. The place also happens to be one of the best locations in town -- right at the midpoint between the ocean and a prime July 4 parade viewing area, and in easy walking distance to the local shops and restaurants. Great rooms as well; got sort of a rustic character but without sacrificing the general comfort, cleanliness, or essentials you'd expect from a high-quality chain hotel. Been coming here for years and highly recommend it. Photo taken just now while enjoying the ocean breeze on the porch swing before bed.

One of the most unique places I have stayed in quite some time…read more First off, while it's not cheap, it's definitely way less expensive than everywhere else in the area - especially for having parking, being literally across the street from the beach, and being a 10-minute walk to the Main Street. You could park once and then not have to drive again for your time in Chatham. Also, it's very well equipped - the people who run the place know what people need for the beach and work hard to make it happen. There's towels, wagons, umbrellas and coolers. There's a communal fridge and an ice machine. There's a vending area for drinks and a continental breakfast and a wine hour. Also plenty of space for sitting outside and visiting with a view of the water. The beach across the street is really cute, too. The rooms themselves are quirky, but clean and workable with fast WiFi. The stairs are really steep so if you have any mobility issues at all I would recommend a first floor room. The bed was comfortable and the new AC was useful for blocking out next door neighbor noise. The bathroom was a bit weird - the sink counter was falling off the base a bit and the floor seemed soft/likely in need of replacement, but all was functional. The only really odd thing was that my room was next to a room which had a private bath not in the room but across the hallway, and the neighbors had both bathroom and bedroom doors open going back and forth as if it was their private area - I felt like I was intruding although I had to go through the hall way to enter and leave. However, it just added to the quirk!
