"An ounce of pretension is worth a pound of manure." The bizarre attitude I just experienced while trying to make a reservation for a nearly $3000.00 stay for 3 days at this property in the off season exemplifies this statement. We will be at The Cape for a milestone anniversary in May from the 7th thru the 10th and thought that the importance of the celebration warranted a little luxury. I am 5 years cancer free. The woman who I just spoke with on the phone after perusing their website was vapid - and that's being polite. I explained that this was an important anniversary and that I saw exactly the room that I wanted to stay in - and went on to describe a beige room with a fireplace, king bed and ceiling fan. This is not cheap mind you; it's nearly $1000 a night, in the off-season. Can't stress that enough. She said that she would be happy to take the reservation but couldn't guarantee the room. Not understanding I asked her if she could check and see if that room was already booked. She explained that it's first come, first served and room assignments are random. If that's the case why on earth post pictures of the rooms at all. That seems a little bait-and-switch to me. Still thinking that I wasn't quite understanding I said " I don't think I'm being clear. I would really like to stay in that room so if I'm calling today and paying for it in full, why can't I choose the room that I would like to stay in? This makes no sense to me." She went on to sweetly explain to me - in order to keep it "fair" for everyone, rooms are to be assigned at the time of check-in. I would love for somebody from this property to explain this to me in terms a five-year-old might understand because at nearly $3000 for three days in the off season 6 WEEKS IN ADVANCE I should be able to book whatever room is available. Chatham Bars Inn is legit! As far as I understand, it's a fairly nice hotel, so it's nice they allow the public to stop by the restaurant/bar area. My friends and I came by to have some drinks and enjoyed the outdoor area. It was a pretty nice day out when we went, so it was fairly busy. We were able to snag a few seats by the bar, though. If you're looking for a view, just head on down to the beach. Location can't be beat! I'd happily return. read more

I had high expectations for this spot as I had seen so much hype on social media. The grounds do look to be beautiful, and spacious, covering a lot of area. However, parking looks to be impossible, and the eateries was somewhat unaccessible. We got drinks from the bar at the beach house grill, they were $19 each, and really small. We've been staying at the Chatham Bars Inn for over 23 years. We even got married there. Whenever we stay the staff always make us feel special. Our latest stay was for my husband's big birthday and we were not disappointed. The only issue was with our fireplace which wasn't working. A very nice man named Gleison (I'm sorry if I spelled his name wrong) came by to fix the problem. He was polite, very friendly and fixed the issue in record time. He's really an asset to CBI. Our room was located away from the main building with self parking which was a blessing as the valet area seemed constantly busy. It's just after Labor Day but there's still plenty of hustle and bustle around here with high prices, slow service but very good food! For me, the prices here don't meet the standard but if you're looking to be in Chatham they say this is the place... set on the beachside with a public golf course at their door step I can see why they still come. The property is beautiful! I had so much fun walking around and looking at all of the flowers and the views of the ocean! My family and I ate at the Chatham Bars Inn Restaurant but the water. It is beautiful and the tables for large groups are huge! The staff are very nice and polite. The service is good but if there are a lot of people the wait for your food might be a bit of a wait maybe like 30-45min. The menu is big and there are alot of options to choose from. I chose the Swordfish Tacos with Fries. I did not like the pineapple sauce they put on it because that is all I could taste, the fish was cooked very well but was bland. Luxury Price, Zero Safety -- Chatham Bars Inn FAILED US I am absolutely horrified by our experience at Chatham Bars Inn and equally appalled by American Express Travel's response. What was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime babymoon and honeymoon turned into a nightmare that we will never forget. At 1:30 a.m., a drunk man from the adjoining suite broke into our locked room and began urinating in our bathroom while we were asleep. Yes, another guest literally breached our room in the middle of the night. My husband confronted him -- but if I had been alone (I am pregnant), the outcome could have been much worse. This was not an inconvenience; this was a major safety failure. And how did a so-called "luxury" hotel charging over $1,000 per night respond? With insulting, meaningless gestures: * A $300 beach cabana for the day. * Two nonalcoholic beers and one virgin piña colada. * A $30 bottle of wine (I'm pregnant, and my husband doesn't drink). That's their idea of making it right after a drunk stranger breaks into a guest's suite in the middle of the night? Absolutely disgraceful. When we asked for a refund, the hotel told us their "hands were tied" because we had booked through American Express Travel. They pushed us to go through AMEX directly. AMEX initially promised to resolve the situation and return our points. But after dragging the process out for over a month, AMEX came back and told us they couldn't do anything -- because the hotel had already "made up for it" with the cabana. In other words, a cabana was enough to erase a guest safety breach. Both the hotel and AMEX decided that my safety -- as a pregnant woman traveling with my husband -- was worth nothing more than some beach chairs and a drink. To make matters worse, this wasn't our only issue with Chatham Bars Inn: * Our first room was poorly designed, nearly impossible to navigate with my pregnancy, and the bathroom was so dysfunctional that you couldn't even reach the toilet without first stepping inside, closing the door behind you, and then squeezing around it to get to the toilet hidden behind the door. On top of that, the room overlooked nothing but loud air conditioning units, making the entire space feel cramped, uncomfortable, and completely unworthy of the price we were paying. * When we were "upgraded," the hotel misplaced our luggage for over an hour. It was finally found hidden behind closed curtains in the room. Who hides a guest's belongings like that? For a property that markets itself as a premier Cape Cod resort, the level of professionalism, security, and hospitality here was shockingly low. A hotel's most basic responsibility is to keep guests safe. They failed. And AMEX -- who claims to protect its cardholders and prides itself on hospitality -- sided with them instead of with their loyal customer. We will never stay at Chatham Bars Inn again, and we will never book travel through AMEX again. Both failed us in the most fundamental way possible: by refusing to take guest safety seriously. The king sized bed was incredibly comfortable. I was treated to soothing classical music on the Bose acoustic wave in the bedroom. It was a completely delightful experienc. Beautiful place to have a meal. We decided to eat here after the first place we went to was closed. We ate on the deck area and the Staff and service was amazing. The Clam Chowder is some of the best I have ever eaten! We ordered the Lobster Nachos and OMG were they huge! Like 4-5 people huge. Whole pieces of lobster and they did not skimp! The inn was decorated for Christmas and everything was just beautiful. The staff was amazing, the food was amazing and the band was as well. Our family decided to head up to Chatham on our first visit to the Cape on the 4th of July. To no surprise, it was busy and the vibe was so relaxed and pleasant. We came with my in-laws who had never been either, so we were excited to experience something new. The guys went over to complimentary valet to make parking easy while we explored the grounds of the hotel. Once we finished walking through, we decided to grab a drink at the outdoor bar and enjoy the Adirondack chairs while sipping on sangria and local beers. It was a fantastic afternoon taking in the Cape Cod views and enjoying the NE ambiance. The drinks were a little expensive, but if you go into it knowing that, it won't come as a shock to you. Beers were a *little* more reasonable at $8-10). We had other plans for lunch but noticed some people nearby ordering apps and the cheese board looked incredible and large! Some pro tips: Complimentary valet service makes parking easy. Went for a romantic getaway and stayed in the main house presidential suite. We had a nice balcony with an amazing view of the ocean. Our room had a fireplace and a dining area with a spacious bedroom and living room. The bathroom has a steam shower with eucalyptus which was personally my Favorite. This hotel is expensive but you get what you pay for. We had a fantastic and relaxing getaway. Everyone on staff was pleasant and helpful, which adds to the experience. Of course the location is great, so close to the beach (just being on the cape in general is lovely). The spa is another destination onto itself. This establishment is cool but could have been so much better. For the positives: the views of their grounds and the beach are fantastic. Even with dreary days it was a bit relaxing just to look around - and we stayed there for 3 nights specially to relax. The room was also nicely appointed and very clean. You can tell they take great care to decorate and clean and it shows. On the not so great side, when we arrived we immediately wanted to do room service. I called and got voicemail, so I left a message of what I wanted. After waiting a few minutes I called again and got voicemail again, so I decided to walk over and just order takeout. To my surprise, they wouldn't let me do takeout. They first told me to go back and call room service but when I explained that I tried, they took my order and then told me to go back to my room and wait for delivery. I can only assume this was to ensure they got their full gratuity, but it certainly didn't scream good service. The crab cake sandwich was delicious but unfortunately the green circle chicken entree was on the bloody side. Im not sure, but I think rare chicken is bad for your health. But hey, at least they got their full gratuity! They also do not have a "do not disturb " sign. Therefore I was awakened several times in both the morning and the evening (turn down service) with housekeeping banging on the door. They were nice, but it would have been nicer if I could just signal to them I don't need service. Did I mention the goal was to relax?! And lastly, the cable service was not great. It went out regularly, and outside of the first day the guide and menu features never worked. That was quite disappointing. I am currently in the middle of my stay at Chatham Bars Inn. What I had looked forward to for so long I now can't wait to have end. Chatham Bars is a better than average hotel. Nothing more. That said, Chatham Bars may also well be the finest wedding venue on the eastern seaboard. Do you know what no one on earth has ever said: "best place for summer vacations--wedding venues!" Pick a lane. They don't and it shows. Checked in last night, the place was packed. It was like a well-dressed bus depot with dozens of feral children running around. Was I checking into a resort or a wedding venue? I half expected someone to jump out and ask; "bridge or groom". Still you would think after checking in, there would be someplace a resort customer could get something to eat. Wrong. There are NO reservations at most of restaurants. This means for food, tourists from virtually every corner of the Cape line up to create a two hour wait queues. The resort makes NO accommodation for Inn guest to at least jump in the line in some manner? How is this 5-star again? When you ask anyone about how odd it is there are so many simple things a resort guest can't do. All you get is the Gen Z stare! I wanted to take my book and sit in a chair outside. You would think at a high-end resort, that would be simple. It isn't. The Inn makes NO accommodate for hotel guests. There was no room for me to sit. And for a reason no sane person can explain, this 5-star hotel can't rope off 3 or 4 tables for the idiots that are paying their Inn prices. Yes, it's 5-star Mobile, but if you want to sit down--not so much. Chatham Bars is a victim of it's own success. The Inn itself is a tourist destination. Visitors from miles around all come to Chatham to eat and enjoy the resort. I made a serious mistake for coming here. Did I really choose a tourist trap for our 20th anniversary. I am afraid so. I did ask, "how do you get a chair here?". Someone from the hotel answered "early in the morning", with a chuckle. You'd be surprised how that laugh doesn't land to the guy paying the average monthly mortgage for a hotel he can't eat at. read more

My fiancé and I were staying nearby for our honeymoon and had been referred by several friends and clients to the Chatham Inn bar! We were so looking forward to a cozy, romantic evening with appetizers and drinks, but from the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was tense and unwelcoming. When we first pulled in, the valet was noticeably unfriendly. We brushed it off, thinking maybe it's because we'd entered the wrong driveway, after all it was our first time there. After finding the correct entrance, the second interaction was slightly warmer, but still not the level of hospitality you'd expect from such a highly regarded inn. Inside we were greeted at the concierge desk with the same lack of warmth. My husband and I made a real effort to be friendly and lighthearted, not wanting to let one staff interaction define the night. As business owners ourselves, we understand that one person's mood shouldn't shape a guest's experience. Unfortunately, that sense of judgment and indifference continued through every encounter, from the door to the dining room. Despite feeling out of place, we decided to make the most of it and ordered the seafood platter. The food itself was okay. The lobster and shrimp were fresh, but the sauces it came with didn't really complement the flavors, and there was no explanation or description of what was being served. It just felt a bit impersonal and confusing for such an expensive dish, not to mention the fruit flys landing on our food and drinks. To make things more uncomfortable, someone came over mid-meal to ask our last name "for their records," something I didn't notice being done to any other couple. We even asked our server if it was okay that we were there since we weren't guests of the inn, that's how out of place we felt. Our server, Jeremy, was truly wonderful! He was attentive, kind, and the only person who made us feel welcome. He was the one redeeming part of the evening. I rarely leave negative reviews, my family owns several service-based businesses in Connecticut, including marinas, so I understand that no place is perfect. But no matter what, we treat every guest with the same respect. The lack of hospitality we experienced here was disappointing and uncomfortable, especially on our honeymoon. If you're looking for a genuinely warm and welcoming experience, we actually had a much better time and meal down the street at Squires. read more

Gorgeous property! Service is exceptional, from valet to hostess'. Hefty price tag for pretty much everything but definitely a great experience staying here this past week. My husband and I are very into working out everyday and I was pleasantly surprised to see pelotons on property, just login to your account and ride! Our room was nice but, a one bedroom suite, great size but didn't love the layout but it was what we needed with a baby, and all the stuff for the baby. Breakfast buffet was probably the best breakfast buffet I've ever had, everything is so fresh and rotated often so you're not ever getting watery powdered eggs! Great hotel but way too loud. Be aware that if you stay in a cottage you will be subject to whatever is going on in the tent area by the water. It's a Monday night and we are unable to sleep due to the music/noise. I called the front desk to inquire what was going on and how long the noise would continue and was told a flat "sometime around 10pm". I feel like we should have been advised upon check in at least giving us the option to stay in another available room/cottage away from this area. Why not just let guests know there will be activity at this tent area during their stay? Parking was a nightmare as there was never anywhere for us to park near our cottage. For my main course I ordered the Fritto Misto a selection of deep fried seafood with the veggie sauce . My husband had the Beer Battered Fish and lastly my friend ordered the Chatham Mussels . We also ordered a bottle of champagne to complete our meal . Everything served to us was fresh and tasty our server who I forgot his name was very friendly and had exchanged a lot of travel tips with my friend . We wanted to explore the Cape on bikes but the resort did not have their bikes out for the season yet. Without hesitation. they prepared 2 bikes for our use. The Derby party at Chatham Bars Inn this past weekend was so much fun! I absolutely love the new bar in the Fireplace Room--it's a total game changer in there. The Derby decorations were beautifully done and made the atmosphere feel extra festive, and the contest really highlighted all the great attire that so many guests wore. I debated writing this review because I so badly wanted to love CBI, but to be honest with you, I didn't end up loving it as much as I anticipated to. My partner took me here for my birthday and we got breakfast at Stars, which the food was good, but had a sort of rude interaction we were told to wait for a table. I was told I'd receive a text when the table was ready, but J never got a text when the table became available and when we went to check on it, they told me in a snarky tone it had been ready and that they sent me a text. I showed them that I never got it, but they dismissed it. So I looked past that and was excited for the meal. Food was good! After, my partner had booked a coastal manicure for me as a surprise, but when we went to check in for the reservation, turned out the receptionist had accidentally booked it for the wrong weekend...which was fine! mistakes happen! What bothered me was that they never acknowledged that it was their error, never apologized for it happening, and made us feel like we were the ones inconveniencing them. Anyways, they got me an appointment that day, but an hour later than anticipated so I waited in the lounge area for an hour. The manicurist wasn't the friendliest, we made small talk, but it was forced. Before my manicure was dry, the nail tech had to leave, so someone from the front desk did my top coat and I'm sorry but it came out pretty poorly. It chipped in a couple days, and it was certainly not a cheap service!! Overall, I REALLY wanted to like it here, but there's some areas that could be worked on.
