it's such a pretty building and has so many amenities inside, but i came here from 6-8pm on a Tuesday and it was SO LOUD. They had just ended a child reading time(?) and the parents stayed and socialized. which is fine, if their kids weren't screaming bloody murder for 20 minutes straight (it's their bedtime) and the ones trying to study eventually all got up and left. it's my first time here & hoping it's not always like this, especially so close to closing when kids should be going to dinner/bed. i'm a preschool teacher so i'm used to child noise but this was a bit much even for me.

Visited here on a Saturday morning. Filthy public restrooms. Yuck. That was disappointing.

Ask the Community - Pleasant Hill Library

Is there a toddler-friendly area in the new Pleasant Hill Library?

I'm looking for a very kid friendly library in the area, willing to drive a bit. Which would you say is the most kid friendly?

Here is my opinion of some central county libraries: The good:…

Is there an outside book drop off for after hour book returns?

Yes! when you walk up towards the entrance of the library, your drop off box will be on your right hand side of the building. :)

It's been updated in regard to technology, but the study tables, etc. remain the same. Online access to the library and peripheral resources is excellent! The computer lab and the classroom at the far end of the library are nice and new and set up to promote a positive learning environment. You can also get a DVC Connect Card at the circulation desk if you don't want to go to the Student Life Office. The students who staff the library are nice and helpful.

The staples are free and all you have to do is load your card up with monies and you can use them any time you need. I hate being brought here for class "field trips" because beyond forced here for them, I never once used this library for any sort of research. Thats what the internet's is for. Duh. I like they wanted to teach us how to use the online site to look up information, because coming through those security doorways always hurt my ears so I never got into falling asleep here like others. I hate that there are no liquids allowed in here. I always had to hide my hot chocolate when making copies. And you ain't really lived until you've spilled hot chocolate in a library. I like that I never have to come here again... no wait... love. I love that I never have to come here again.

The old Barnes and Nobles you could spend a couple hours walking around looking at books. This is the light version. Unfortunately online stuff has put us in the situation where you can go into this bookstore and cover the whole place in around 15 minutes. I was looking at the "horror" section and it's okay but again, the light version. Also the fact everything is so expensive now also doesn't help. A paperback was 20 bucks. I'm not paying 20 bucks for a book I'll read once that I can get a the library for free. Magazine prices are absurd. I did find a couple that were 8 bucks but most are over ten and usually more. For a magazine. I hope this type of place keeps going but I can see why they don't. Support your local book store.

Much appreciated for that very reason. And some of the books these days are upping their game with gorgeous covers and internal pages, well, that makes browsing and buying physical book more compelling than ever. Busy shopping center so while the parking lot is large, getting a spot at peak times may be a short walk to where you are headed. That said, this is a vibrant and living area. The bookstore benefits from that with many fellow book lovers seeking out their next loved story. What goes great with a new book? Coffee or tea! Maybe a treat as well.
