First I want to say the staffs and instructor were all Very…read morenice and professional. This review is about the manager and how she doesn't understand client needs when it comes to using their services. It shows this establishment is a very cookie cutter academy and best suitable for only kids less than 10 years old ( lanes were Very narrow aka cramped, my kid scraped his back and was bleeding) I called the ASA specifically to inquire if they are a good fit for my child's swimming lesson needs. I have explained in detail what level my child is at which he knows most of the strokes and has been playing waterpolo competitively. He now wants to join a competitive swim team which he wasn't able to bc he didn't know how to do flip turns and he is not very good at back stroke. We want to improve these areas specifically and we want to know if 1, they have a specific class that will fit this need, 2, he is a teenager so we need to know if he personally thinks the class will work for him. The girl offered a trial class and we showed up. She told me over the phone that this class will help with what he needs but ofc when we attended it was a class based on age and not skills. Clearly was not what we were looking for but as I was sitting there, a lady came by asked me what I was looking for bc she can see he was not a little kid and he can almost qualify to be an instructor based on how well he swam. After I explained our situation again which I didn't mind, she said they have a stroke specific class which will make more sense for him. I asked if we can do a trial class she said yes. And, again that's not the case bc when the front desk staffs tried to book one they needed a manager's approval. The manager refused and asked us to pay bc they only offer 1 trial class. I explained the situation being we attended an incorrect class etc then she insisted it doesn't matter bc trial class is to access what level he is at so one class will suffice.... THIS IS THE PART why I wrote this review. As a paying client who has to commit to at least three months of swimming lessons at $52/class, I should have the say so if the class, the instructor, the lessons are going to work for us. We also get to evaluate the school. But from the manager, it's a one way street even though the whole point of a trial class for us was to see if my child will get the training he needs. Not to mention we wasted our time driving to this class on a school day to which it doesn't work for us at all. Like she made it seem like I wanted to get another free class smh. I was even considering private lessons if the instructor was very good at helping my child! It's this type of poor management makes you lose business.

The staff is incredibly friendly and always quick to answer any questions or concerns, which we truly appreciate. My daughter has been swimming here for over a year, and her progress has been amazing. She has gained so much confidence and skill in the water. The instructors are supportive and encouraging--especially Julia, who has been wonderful with my daughter. They also have a fair makeup policy, which makes scheduling much easier for busy families. We're very happy with our experience and highly recommend American Swim Academy.

In hindsight, maybe it worked to my advantage to not leave a raving review sooner. Mr Keiths schedule books quickly in warm months and my 5 star wouldn't help me so much in securing my kids desired swim slots. No.. but really, Keith is nothing short of AMAZING. He is punctual, reliable, honest, flexible as can be for the most sought after swim lessons in the East Bay Area. He has a natural way of interacting with kids, he gets on their level. Maybe cause he is just like a big kid himself. but Keith really knows how to teach hard concepts and break it down for young minds so they truly understand, learn and grow when applying skills. Keith's own enthusiastic and playful nature combined with instructing in a approachable way attracts the attention of little ones. Despite his childlike teaching style, he consistently sets firm expectations and provides gentle feedback when needed that foster motivation and encourage kids to do their best, truly maximizing every minute of a short swim lesson. I have seen tremendous growth in both my kids with Mr Keith. I will never be going back to a local swim school. That was just a waste of money and pool playtime with friends. If you read this review you dont need to look any further for private swim lessons. I have already researched the best of the best in this area and Mr Keith is it.

We feel like we really lucked out with his private lessons!! Can't recommend him enough!

The facility is clean, and it's perfect for my kids, who are 14, 10, 5, 4 and 10months old. I recommend renting your space ahead of time. Even with many people, there's so much to do that it doesn't feel crowded. We enjoyed the food too, especially the loaded fries, chicken strips, and strawberry lemonade. I was disappointed with our visit to The Wave in Dublin. The slide attendants would ask if anyone wanted to ride the light blue slide. My kids and I had been waiting in line, and after no one responded for several minutes, another family walked up. The dad said he wanted to ride the light blue slide, so the staff let him through. However, his child went to the dark blue slide instead--the one my child had already said they wanted to ride. We were next in line, the staff saw what happened, and they still allowed it. It felt like my family was skipped. This wasn't an isolated incident either. While we were there, I saw similar situations happen to other families, where people who hadn't been waiting in line ended up getting on the slides ahead of others. It made the line system feel unfair and poorly managed. The rules also weren't enforced consistently. One staff member told me I couldn't wear my goggles on the slide, even though I'd worn them there before without any issues and other staff members never said anything. It was confusing because different staff members seemed to enforce different rules. Overall, the experience felt disorganized and unfair. Better line management and consistent enforcement of the rules would make a big difference.

I wish I could give zero stars if that was an option. And no, this is not an emotional outburst by…read moreany means. Here is a completely analytical view of why this place is one of the worst when it comes to teaching kids how to swim. By the way, for context, this review is for kids learning in the age range of 5 to 7. 1. Instructors - Some of the instructors are very good but they don't seem to stay for long with the organization. Other instructors genuinely should not be allowed to instruct kids as they do not have the temperament or the ability to establish rapport with the kids of this age range to teach them. Some of the instructors also tend to focus more on their favorite kids and spend higher than average amount of time with them rather than spend equal amount of time with all the kids. 2. Consistency of instructors - Considering the churn of good instructors, the kids do not get consistency of instructors which affects them in multiple ways - (a) The rapport built by the previous instructor is gone and the new instructor may not be good at establishing rapport, and (b) the assessment of the skill level of the kid varies significantly from one instructor to another, (c) the instruction methodology varies wildly among instructors due to which it was impossible for the kid to follow the instructions. When we brought up this concern, the manager's response was "life happens, we can't do much about it". We agree that life happens but this level of churn is unbelievable. Our kid had 8 instructors in a span of 15 months. 3. Consistency of skill level assessment - At the end of the day, it was clear that this was nothing more than a subscription business where they want you to be subscribed for as long as possible without sufficient focus on developing the skill of the kids. At the end of each class, there was supposed to be skill assessment and update to their chart. This process DID NOT happen consistently or at all. When we pointed it out a couple of times, they would do the assessment and send update emails for a couple of weeks, and then the process would stop again. Generally, their operations is so relaxed that they don't follow any of these processes consistently. 4. Horrible policies - They have a policy of not providing make up class for a make up class. Let me explain a bit more. A few times, they canceled the class due to unavoidable circumstances. They allowed us to schedule a make up. On the day of the make up, the kid fell sick. We were not allowed to schedule a make up for this make up class even though the reason for the first make up class was them canceling the class in the first place. Due to their policy, they said they cannot allow us to schedule a make up class. In other words, they feel perfectly fine with charging you money without actually conducting the class. So much for ethics! 5. Instruction methodology - Their instruction methodology is focused on teaching you multiple swimming strokes at once which makes no sense. First of all, for survival, it is accepted practice to focus on one stroke, make sure they perfect it and then move on to the next one. However, I am not sure if they are scared that if a kid learns a stroke, given that they have learned the basic survival skills, they may not stay in the class anymore. So, they focus on multiple strokes all at the same time. With the instructor churn involved, they make it impossible for kids to learn fast enough. 6. Lack of communication - There were changes to instructors in the last minute due to the absence of their assigned instructor. Now, this wouldn't bother us as much if this was a rare occurrence. However, in our case, this was a consistent occurrence. It is bad enough to see churn of instructors but it was even worse to see primary instructors being absent often to cause change of instructors. Their philosophy seems to be "we are a team, any of can teach" without any concern about whether the kid would be fine with a new instructor or their method of teaching. Overall, we were appalled by the practices of this swim school. Our kid made some progress despite all these challenges. However, it was too much of a bad experience to continue our kid in this class. If the management is reading this review, I hope they don't get defensive, take an honest look at their operations and focus on fixing the issues rather than providing a defensive response.

I look up from my chair and…read moresee my kids, ages 7 and 9, completely absorbed in something simple: a game of tetherball, having lunch in the sun, playing "marco polo". No screens. No "I'm bored." Just kids being kids. That's what this place gives you, and it's why I can't recommend it enough. First, the practical magic: it's never crowded. You can actually find a chair, the kids can actually swim without bumping into anyone. But what really sets it apart is the people. This isn't just a pool, it's a community. Families share their pool toys, kids fold new friends into their games within minutes. Everyone is genuinely kind and welcoming, and you feel it the moment you walk through the gate. We can spend the whole day there if we have time, and several of my kids' friends usually join. They swim, they eat lunch on the grass, they climb the trees, they play volleyball and tetherball until they're pleasantly worn out. It brings you back to a simpler time, when childhood didn't need to be complicated. Just a pool, some open space, a few outdoor games, and their imaginations take it from there. It's my kids' favorite place in the summer, and watching them this happy and content is worth everything. What also gives me confidence as a member is how seriously the club takes reinvesting in the experience. This year they're upgrading the bathrooms and the pool decking, and there's more already in the works. It's clearly a members-first operation; they're always looking ahead at how to make it better for the families who call it home. This membership has given my kids a place to be free, active, and genuinely joyful, and it's given our family a community we didn't know we were missing.
