Such a beautiful spot! Peaceful, charming, and so relaxing...a true hidden gem . Outside seating is blissful!

Delicious hot sandwich! Great for a quick bite or a light study sesh. Can get busy with lots of students but makes for a lively ambiance and there's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

Light, healthy salad for lunch and iced tea in a shaded courtyard. They also offer breakfast options earlier in the day.

Chicken poblano sandwich was delicious! The baguette was crunchy and flavorful, and the chicken was marinated in a delicious creamy sauce and paired nicely with the manchego. The side salad was also so refreshing with a vinaigrette dressing! A cute coffee shop with lots of outdoor seating! The service was a bit slow... but maybe because my sandwich had to be heated up? My friends who got cold sandwiches got their food very quickly.

Get busy place, so I don't recommend studying here. The coffee itself is delicious (when hot but that's a preference of mind). The pistachio bakery was a go to fav, and I will be ordering that again. I also came back during lunch time for a chicken soup. That was delicious as well. For the price and the amount they give, I'd say it's worth it. Plenty of seating inside and outside the restaurant as well.

Happy my kids brought me here for breakfast. Lots of good options. Small space but clean and streamlined. Happy they had matcha lattes. Service was good and my kids' chorizo burritos were delicious. Only negative was the mushroom & Gruyère quiche - zero taste and was over cooked. So skip that. Will definitely have to try other items.

Plein Air Cafe is a hot spot at the center of UChicago's campus. It's located in the same building as Seminary Co-op (great bookstore) and right next to the Frank Lloyd Wright house, which you can view from their patio! They have a fairly small indoor cafe and a large outdoor patio. If you go at rush hour (lunch) there will most likely be a line and it will be pretty crowded with students working inside. The line wasn't too bad, and I was still able to find a seat on their patio despite how busy it was. They have a full bar, lots of wines, beers, and lattes. Breakfast is served til noon on weekdays and lunch starts at 11 am. I got the goat cheese and roasted pepper sandwich, which came with a nice little side salad. I liked the flavors of the sandwich and appreciated that there were multiple vegetarian options. Great place to work remotely, as the patio has plenty of shade and there is a lot of seating!

There's even a community board towards the bathroom, which gives this spot a community-based vibe. It's a quick, casual spot with several tables open for grabs when people leave. I got a traditional everything bagel w cream cheese to start the day, which had the RIGHT amt of cream cheese. Sometimes places give wayy too much, ruining the exp. I also ordered their popular Sumac Chicken sandwich on their Dutch Crunch bread, which was really good!! The bread had a slight sweetness to it that was satisfying and the flavors altogether were soo yummy. I waited ~12 min for my order, since they were rightfully packed. No outside food/drinks allowed if you're grabbing a table to eat. There's WiFi and a restroom in the back. Lots of neighborhood regulars. Bonus points that their food is halal for those w dietary restrictions. Great neighborhood spot!!

I also had a bagel which was good, though at the end of the day it's still just a bagel. The only real downside is parking. There isn't a lot of convenient parking nearby, which can make stopping in a little tricky depending on the time of day. It's also not the quietest environment, so it might not be the best place if you're looking to get a lot of work done. Overall though, it's a great neighborhood coffee spot with good drinks, friendly staff, and a comfortable atmosphere. I'd definitely come back.

Cute setup, little tables, and that Paris mural on the wall. It totally gives that authentic Parisian feel. Staff was really helpful too, super welcoming. I got the hot chocolate and a Swiss chocolate croissant. The hot chocolate was smooth and really flavorful. Made with steamed milk, so it had that creamy texture right away. Not too sweet, more on the rich side, with a slight bitterness that balanced it out nicely. The croissant though... that was the highlight. Super flaky, layers just falling apart as you bite into it. Light and crispy on the outside, soft inside. The chocolate in the center was slightly melted and it balanced perfectly with the buttery pastry. Every bite had that mix of crunch and softness. Honestly, it took me back to my fall trip to Paris a bit. Just one of those simple, really good moments. I'd definitely come back.

I show up here because it's decent to look at but don't give me no side eye for wanting oat milk with size 18 hips. I did feel a bit judged for my selection but!!!! The next visits I had were nice, however, what does that do for anyone? You want repeat customers? Remember to be nice the first time you meet one always.
