This review is just based on the tasty iced French vanilla latte with oat milk I got. I needed an afternoon pick-me-up Sunday and this was the perfect choice. When I went there was no line. We were in Chicago and getting ready to return home so we wanted a light bite at a non-National chain. We visited Sip and Savor a local shop in South Side. Friendly staff and the coffee smelled good. We ordered breakfast which was brought out to our table. We got a blueberry scone and 2 egg and cheese sandwiches which were yummy. We got an iced black coffee, iced vanilla honey latte, and a honey lavender latte and they were quite nice. I stopped by recently to meetup with a friend I havent seen in awhile. I've heard so much about Sip & Savor as its a prominent, black owned establishment with multiple locations so I definitely had to support, even though I'm not that big of a coffee guy. I went with the Honey Latte which was delicious. They have a very nice menu for your coffee & tea pleasure. They even have pastries and other goodies. The vibe of course is very chill with good, subtle music playing in the background. If you live in HP or are nearby and want to have a quick meet with someone for old times sake or even a date or want to pop open the laptop, this is a good spot to check in to. read more

I'm writing to report a slight downgrade on this otherwise good establishment. I'll go with 2 1/2 stars instead of the 3 I originally gave. Anyone can have an 'off day' and I want to believe that's what happened here. I came in last week 12/3 and requested my usual decaf or half decaf, per my doctor's orders, and the new or (or temp, I hope) barista said they do NOT HAVE DECAF, or not the drip decaf. I said I have received it here before, but she replied they only have decaf espresso (Note to coffee lovers: as much as I can't stand decaf, stay away from cafes that only offer decaf as an upcharge of espresso or Americano. Drip coffee Decaf is not rocket science!!!) So I went ahead and ordered regular, as I did not have time to stop at my beloved Starbucks, which is just 3.5 blocks away from the Hyde Park location. The overall experience was not pleasant, but I only come once a week as they are a 15 minute walk. I wrote an email complaining the same day with no response. I've been here several times. It's a great place to sit and do work. When I first arrived there was jazz music playing in the background, when I was leaving there was upbeat hip hop. I got my usual-carrot muffin and chai tea latte. It was tasty per usual. The employees there are always nice and friendly. As a sidenote I preferred the jazz music to the hip hop. Only because I would get distracted by the lyrics and wanna dance instead of being focused on work. read more

I do not know what they put in this chai tea latte, but I've had my fair share of chai tea latte's and let me tell you, this is by far the best one in Chicago. I walk in, the wait is short, baristas are very friendly and welcoming, they get my pastries and drinks fast (I ordered about 15 for an event), and best of all, the checkout experience is very easy -- they offer emailed receipts and tap to pay. People come here to study, to chat with friends, and enjoy their drinks/pastries. The seating looked comfortable. It's about a small to medium sized shop. Every visit has been a (good) vibe. It strikes me as a very community-centred shop, but also welcoming to those that just happen to be in the area. Employees are friendly and quick, and the seating is welcoming for whatever you want to do, whether it be work or visit with friends. Every Wednesday at this particular location is "Wine Down Wednesdays", where they offer wine and beer for around $5/glass (and other liquors, depending on availability), and free catered food. A DJ is in the background, so this probably isn't the best time to study, but if you're looking to mingle or be in a vibrant environment, this is it. wish they were a little more concerned with customer service... the girls are all really sweet, but very distracted talking to each other and don't fully prepare your order. I ordered a brownie and she just put it on the counter... no fork, no plate, no knife to cut the tight plastic off, didn't even put it in a paper bag if I wanted it to-go. I asked her for a fork and she looked at me with shock as I interrupted the conversation she was having about the other girl's personal life. Instead of asking her for the other items I needed one by one, I just let her get back to gossipping and opened the brownie with my car keys and ate it on a napkin. The manager doesn't tell them to get to work, she was standing there and chatting with them. Another customer came back after going all the way to his car because he didn't want foam. When he came back, they didn't apologize for the mistake but after he left I heard one of the workers say "he did ask for no foam." So they're aware that they're not doing things right but they're distracted because they're all best friends. I don't see myself coming here again because stuff like that just frustrates me. but 3 stars because the workers are really sweet (including the manager) and I like the vibe, the drinks & the pastries are not that bad. read more

I still like Sip & Savor because of the chill vibe, solid coffee and kind service. The pastries are sourced from a local bakery and are pretty good. Overall a nice option to get some work done. I just began my Sip and Savor experience and would like to share what I have already noticed. This place is the bomb diggity for real. Very nice baristas greeted me when I came in gave me great suggestions cause I can never make up my mind The muffin was warmed for me and came together with the coffee it's the little things! I will be here working with the view of the park right in front of me. Perfect place and they sell food so I can probably stay here all day and eat lunch!
