What a great little spot! I had just flown in to Chicago the day all the Verizon towers went down. It was...a lot. Between finally getting to my friends new place sans phone and going to pick up a mattress from someone in the city, by the time dinner rolled around, I was starving and I was exhausted. Luckily, my freshly relocated friend found Medici and we went over. We kept it cute, a sandwich and a pizza. She didn't have a microwave yet and her stove wasn't working either so leftovers were not something we wanted. It was not only delicious, but so reasonably priced. What a great way to be introduced to the Chicago area.

So good!!! Got recommended this restaurant and I still think about it to this day. The vibe was really cute; brick walls and booths with names written all over the place. The metal touches and darkness really give the food enough contrast to shine! Everyone was very kind in our service, and food came out at a reasonable time. I didn't personally go in the cafe, but I had a cappuccino that was quite nice to drink with my meal! I will come back here soon :)

Outstanding service as always!!!! 5 stars! The best thin crust garbage pizza on the planet. The FUDGE BANANA NUT Shake made with Vanilla ice cream blended with hor fudge, banana and pecans - I was also delicious. In for a Penny in for at least a Pound of fat: an wonderful large cup of CAFÉ LATTE espresso and seamed milk with a TRULY DECADENT BROWNIE SUNDAE - a delicious browne topped with chocolate sauce. vanilla ice cream. pecans, and fresh whipped cream. If you closed your eyes and envisioned the perfect college pizza joint with great service, desserts and coffee--Medici is what you'd see! This is an ideal setting.

Medici is a popular spot among the locals of the Hyde park neighborhood. Located right in the heart at the university of Chicago. You can find this place to be busy on any night. Most notably they are known for their pizza. They have wide ranging menu ranging from comfort food, burgers, and sandwiches. The pizza we got was delicious and the service was great as well.

I was in Hyde Park with some friends and we decided to pop into Medici for an afternoon snack. I loved the vibes of the place, it felt like a chill neighborhood spot. Our server was quick and friendly. We got some appetizers like the veggie and hummus plate and goat cheese dip as well as a few beers. Our favorite was the Grenadine float. The pomegranate soda was so unique and I loved the sherbet on top! Overall, great neighborhood staple.

I ordered a Cesar salad and a hot chai latte during lunch rush. They have no searing but table's while you wait. It didn't take long for my barista to make my latte. The salad took a little longer than I expected considering it was just chopped lettuce, croutons and some finely grated Parmesan cheese. It came with 2 oz. Cups of salad dressing which was adequate. I'd come back to try their sandwiches and the latte was ok.

Very good food with reasonable prices but service sucked. We're pretty sure the waiter forgot to put our order in, but he claims he did. #iraeats #iraeats1

We stopped by Medici while we were strolling in Hyde Park and glad we did! Very typical American spot that was super casual and we were able to walk right in an have some light bites. We all go some beverages but the star was their float which had some kind of lemonade with sorbet on top! Such a sweet and refreshing drink! We also got some goat cheese and hummus to nibble on. Both the apps were great and well priced. Staff was good too. Overall if you're looking for a casual vibe this is a great place to pop into!

OH MY GOODNESS THIS IS SO GOOD!! Best hot chocolate, freshly baked pastries, and my latte was phenomenal. Also if you collect 10 coffee holders you get one free heads up! 100% recommend stopping by!

We stopped by Medici prior to an architectural tour in this area. The atmosphere is eclectic with a variety of religious symbols throughout the restaurant. Food was fairly typical American influenced fare. We were there during brunch, so we ordered a variety of both breakfast and lunch items. My companions enjoyed the BLTs and I found my breakfast burrito to be a very healthy size. My bloody Mary was also much better than expected. Service was a little bit on the slow side and we went long stretches without seeing or interacting with anyone. Took a while to get refills on water and took a while to get access to the check.

This is a great place for a family dine out. One of our friends took us here. The place had so many options, even for vegetarians. We tried the pizza this time, it was amazing! The brunch menu looked tempting too, would love to try again soon. The service was good, a bit slow or maybe it was a bit too busy because it was Saturday. The ambiance was quite a different vibe, like medieval- ish. Would recommend!

I will note that we ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes before actually being seated and the pizzas have up to an hour wait if the restaurant is busy, so we actually got our pizza at about 9:30 PM. Cheese Corners: Some extremely standard triangle shaped cheese bites. Did come out piping hot with a good crunch and cheese stretch, which was nice, but definitely felt like a Sysco-esque appetizer. Deep Dish Pizza: The crust actually had almost a nice crisp at the bottom and a ton of cheese. Tomato sauce had amount of sweetness and they're very generous with the toppings. Overall, if you don't go crazy on the toppings, it's a solid deal and definitely a top tier deep dish experience. Just make sure you have a reservation and that you aren't in a rush.

They push the Mediterranean Bread, and honestly, you should let them. It's enormous, blistered, fragrant, and arrives like a hot air balloon made of carbs. More importantly, it gives you something genuinely delicious to tear into while you wait for the pizza pot pies to emerge from whatever subterranean chamber they're baked in. It's both a starter and a survival tool. A reservation is non‑negotiable unless you enjoy contemplating your own mortality in a weekend crowd. The wait times can stretch so long you could starve to death before your name is called -- and the regulars will nod knowingly as they step around your skeleton. Plan ahead. The salads are comically oversized, the kind of portions that make you wonder if they're meant for a family of four or a single very determined marathon runner. But let's be honest: no one is here for lettuce. We're all here for the pizza pot pie, that molten, bread‑wrapped, cheese‑laden dome of joy that defies every attempt at categorization. It's not deep dish, it's not thin crust -- it's its own thing entirely, and that's the point. This is the place you bring out‑of‑town guests when you want to show them something uniquely Chicago without defaulting to the usual deep‑dish suspects. But it's also the place you come back to on your own, because once you've had that pizza pot pie, it lives rent‑free in your brain until you return.

I got there and there was about 15 people in front of me in line. The hostess was really nice and because I was there by myself, she called up to the bar to see if there was any seats at the bar so I didn't have to wait. I found out that Chicago style pizza takes about 45 minutes to cook, but I was willing to wait. After about an hour I asked where the pizza was, and they said "we lost it". Although I was disappointed that I had waited so long , they were accommodating and apologetic, and took ownership, which I really respected and appreciated. They said they could get me another pizza quicker than 45 minutes, so in total I waited about an hour and a half. They asked me if there's any appetizers I wanted for free or drinks and because I didn't wanna fill up before my pizza and I had already had a salad , I declined. The pizza came out and it was absolutely delicious. Was it worth the wait? Because I didn't have anything else that evening for a while that I needed to do, it was worth it. If I had been in a rush, it would've been a different story. The hostess, the bartender/waiter and the manager were all very nice and attentive. I had a great time at the bar socializing with people from different parts of the country. I would definitely recommend Giordano's.
