You'll end up with a lot of deals and possibly a wheelbarrow full of junk and a much lighter wallet or checkbook, if you're not careful. New wallet? Check. Spices? Check. Rubber spatulas? Check. Walking stick? Check. Hunting socks? Check. Hawkeye calendar? Check. Wait, none of that was on my list! And I don't even go hunting or even like the Hawkeyes, aagh! It was 10 minutes after closing but they still let us in and were wonderful about it (no one tried to rush us or looked annoyed that we were there after close - very much appreciated!). We picked up 5 different kinds of fudge to try. Pistachio, Raspberry Lemonade, Chocolate Raspberry, Birthday Cake and Peanut Butter. The raspberry lemonade was the only one I wasn't really crazy about. It was good, but just not for me. The pistachio is definitely my favorite. I'm excited to try the other flavors some time. The store looks cute too, it's been awhile since I've been in there. It's very clean and there are lots of fun things inside. I wish we would've had more time to look around.

They carry quite a bit from the local area, which is expected given the large variety of organic producers who've made the little farming plots in the driftless region home. However, they also have a nice selection of 'import' organic foods to round out their selection (spices, pastas, sauces, etc) and they even carry natural hand creams and soaps for the lady! If natural and organic foods are important to you, this place is for you!

We have enough produce for everyone; we only have one vegetarian in the bunch, so that may make a difference. The owners are very committed to keeping members informed about the happenings in the farm. With each box, we get a list of a few recipes and how to store and prepare the different fruits and vegetables in the box. What I love? Having fresh produce, being pushed to try new recipes, and trying vegetables I would probably never purchase at Kowalski's or Whole Foods -- being forced out of my comfort zone challenges my pallet and my questionable cooking ability. Driftless does a good job of combining standbys and interesting produce.

The carrots are like candy, and the potatoes are beautiful! I love the newsletter that comes with each box, giving storage tips, and recipe ideas. I've tried veggies I didn't even know existed! It's also made us MUCH better about utilizing everything we can, not only from our box, but from all our food. If you're not ready to get a weekly(or bi-weekly) box, you can always stop by the booth at the Farmers Market(I'm telling you...try the carrots!!!).

Cowboy Joe is one of the owners and you can tell how much time, love and care goes into maintaining the property. The cabin's are warm, cozy, clean and stocked with everything you could need. They even present you with homemade chocolate chip cookies upon arrival that were incredible! I do recommend bringing all of your food necessary for your stay because the cabin's are extremely secluded. Any businesses are about 20-30 min away and even then, what IS there is extremely limited. My husband and I were prepared for this, so it didn't detract from our stay whatsoever-I say that as an fyi for future guests. The porch with rocking chairs was our heaven so we could read and listen to the sounds of nature. We highly recommend staying here! You won't regret it!

I am pretty much in the middle of my 20 week CSA from Harvest Moon Farms. I have a half share,…read morewhich was $450 for 20 weeks and I pick it up at Lush in Roscoe Village. The half share is more than enough for one (maybe two). Thus far, I love it. The vegetables are as fresh as can be and I get to try all sorts of different vegetables. Who knew I would like kale and Swiss chard so much? Kohlrabi? Different heirloom veggies? It definitely makes cooking every week a lot more fun when you get to experiment. I can't wait to see what the rest of the season brings.
