So glad I found this spot. After reading the reviews, I knew I would get my money's worth and the ingredients were fresh. First of all, the bread is soft and has a nice bite, holds the juices of a sandwich well and was fresh. I got the Cobble Hill sandwich and the turkey was really good. Also the size is amazing for the price. When you get there, it feels like you're in the wrong place or entering in the wrong way, but you're not. I asked if this was the sandwich spot and a young man took my order and made my sandwich within 5 min. And there is enough parking behind the State Farm building to pull up and get your sandwich I can't wait to go back and try the Italian and cheesesteak sandwiches. read more

"Great deli-style sandwiches, from rather hidden location on Chapel Hill Rd" Came by here on a Saturday. This place is REALLY hard to find... it's behind the State Farm building, but there's barely any signage from the street. (Note: some photos here in Yelp seem to be from an older location.) We actually came one Saturday, but it was unexpectedly closed, but we caught them the following one, so good to call and confirm before driving over. You walk up to a door on the back, and scan a QR code to see the menu. Then knock on/ open the door and someone will come to take your order. Then you wait outside and they bring you your sandwiches. The lady who took our order was very friendly. The kitchen was rather large, so I suspect it's used for more than just this business. We ordered two turkey subs-- the East New York (which was slightly spicy) and the Dumbo. Wait time was maybe 7-10 minutes or so. Both sandwiches came nicely wrapped, and I think total cost was a little over $20. And conveniently, they take Apple Pay. These were not your Subway or Quiznos sandwiches-- these were DELICIOUS pressed sandwiches (we got them on focaccia. I personally liked the Dumbo the best-- it had a nice mix of flavors that meshed well. The East New York was solid and had a nice spiciness, but not quite as exciting overall. Would I come back? Probably, but since there's no seating, and it's a bit awkward, maybe not the first place I'd think to try, but again, the sandwiches were REALLY good. A hidden away gem on the way to Raleigh! Sandwiches made to perfection with the freshest ingredients! The service is 100 ... TJ (one of the family that owns the place) gave us some of the best service I have had at a restaurant. It was a beautiful day so we ate on the picnic tables outside. One cool thing I have never seen before... There was a bunch of change on the ground outside in front of the store. At first I was wondering why so much change was on the ground. The service of coming to the car was fast and courteous, which is a plus. I received a menus and was told to call when I knew what I wanted. The menus is decent, but how can you call yourself a New York deli if you don't have corned beef or pastrami on rye? I originally ordered a sandwich and chips and was told they were chips. We were out for a drive and looking for a place for lunch. Headed to Yelp and the reviews steered us right to Plumpeez. Of course anyone is skeptical on a first visit, but that quickly dissolved. We were warmly greeted by the super friendly owners, Steve and Naila, and charmed by their son who seamlessly rang up our order, including our Yelp check in discount. The menu is extensive and I really tried to take a little time to read thru the descriptions with so many choices. It's clear a lot of thought went into creating each and every hero/sub and they all sounded mouth watering! I went with the Surf Ave, which sounded exactly like what I'd been craving. Hot Capocollo, Genoa Salami, Sandwich Style Pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato slices, oil & vinegar, and mayo served on an fresh Italian hero roll. It all came together perfectly and was marvelous, but was so huge I had to take half of it home! My dining partner went with a simple BLT and said it was the best she'd ever had! I thought she was just being polite when she told the owner, but she kept bringing it up after we left and even nearly two weeks later when we were telling some friends about Plumpeez, and she's eaten a lot of BLT's in her time! It's clear they have a lot of pride in the preparation and presentation of the heros/subs. We ended up chatting with them for some time and felt like we came in as strangers and left as friends. What a pleasant experience! I honestly was surprised to find them in little ol Butner and wished they'd have a location near me in the Triangle. They would have a gold mine there with all the New Yorker's and other transplants from the northeast! What can I say that hasn't already been said, over and over? Ok, I'll give it a shot. We decided to head east for a drive from the triad to try this spot. This family run restaurant is a delight and a true gem. They are only doing curb service right now, but they will greet you when you arrive, offer you a menu (we used our phones) and let you know to just give them a call when you're ready to order. They do have a couple of picnic tables that we took advantage of. The sandwiches were delicious and generous, and the owner came out and introduced herself. She and her husband operate the restaurant with the help of their incredibly personable and attentive kids. We would make the drive again just to eat here. 100/10! read more

I had worked in Butner for nearly 3 years before finding this place! It's around the back of a building and I had passed by it many times on my way to other restaurants in Creedmoor. I am so glad my co-worker finally told me about this place! The subs are HUGE! And the bread was so soft! The service was fast and the prices were great for the amount of food you get. There isn't indoor dining, but that doesn't matter if you have the food delivered or pick it up and head over to Lake Holt for a relaxing break. I'm writing a review of Plumpeez without having been there for a year. Weird. But such is the time of COVID. I live a good 45 minute drive from Plumpeez, but it is not too far from my office. I haven't been in the office for a year, so no Plumpeez. Today a co-worker who moved back to Durham after a decade in the north asked me where the best place for a sub in north Durham is, because she's due to have a baby at Durham Regional on Roxboro and her tradition is that her husband brings her a ginormous turkey sandwich while she recovers and a chain won't cut it. So, of course I thought of Plumpeez. Not Durham, but a 20 minute drive from the hospital, so definitely worth it. And now I'm craving a conversation with fellow Brooklynites and a sub too big to finish. Oh, yeah, the food....it's amazing. It's spectacular. It's beyond compare. I'll just say this...so prepare yourself...they have 3 different Italian heroes. There's also a genoa salami on a roll if you're not ready for a real deal combo meat hero yet. I lived in Butner for a decade 2 decades ago and wish Plumpeez had been there then! We had to use GPS to find it (near the corner of C Street and Central Avenue, in a building behind the convenience store there) but it was worth the trouble. I got the "Court Street" sub loaded down with specialty meats and fresh vegetables, sparkling fresh; husband ordered a hot roast beef with cheese. They were too big for us to finish at lunchtime so we finished them off for dinner. Plus: the owners are friendly and glad for the business. We will definitely be back. Advice: It's worth the 20-minute trip up I-85 from Durham just for the sandwiches, but if you aren't familiar with the area Lake Holt is just five minutes away (from Plumpeez turn right onto Central Ave and follow it all the way out). It's a lovely spot for a picnic with your Plumpeez meal, with tables right on the lake and a great dock for sitting. Or turn left on Central instead and head 5+ minutes away to Cedar Creek Gallery (use GPS for directions), a gorgeous spot full of pottery, blown glass, art glass, and woodwork, much of it from NC craftspeople. read more

Butner isn't exactly a destination spot for great food, but ever since discovering this little deli tucked behind the Valero downtown, I've seriously considered making the 45-minute drive from Raleigh just to come back. Not only do they have my favorite sandwich in NC (their Coney Island - order it hot!), but they also have some of the friendliest and most courteous staff of any restaurant I've been to anywhere. Talk about, "About Time"! Plumpeez brings New York to Butner NC and I'm loving it. Finally one can get a delicious Boar's head deli made sub in this small town. For this visit I had the pleasure of not only meeting the owner, whom by the way is from Brooklyn NY, but I also experienced great customer service. They prepared for me the pastrami sub loaded with meat and graced with Boar's Head yellow American cheese. The roll purchased from a local bakery was soft and fresh almost as good as the amoroso bread in Philadelphia. Sadly they do not have fresh fountain drinks as of yet but they do have a decent selection of canned or bottled coke products. While I enjoyed my sub I also learned that they can sell the deli meats by the pound. Good bye Harris teeter your subs have met their match and Plumpeez subs are by far better. Clearly if one is in the area whether you are hungry or not, just be hungry and give Plumpeez a try. read more

I've been working in Butner for about 1.5 years. I've seen some signs for Plumpeez but never really sought them out. My wife just started working in Butner too so we decided to get lunch from Plumpeez today. We placed a phone order to get curbside pick up. Placing the order was easy and I appreciated the gentleman who took the order mentioned their credit card machine was down so they only took cash. The gentleman who greeted us at the car and brought our food was super friendly, engaging, and polite. I got the East New York and she got the Utica. Both were absolutely delicious. The East New York had a nice little kick to it. The prices are fair in my opinion, especially for the portion size. You definitely get your moneys worth. The options on sandwiches is large and can be overwhelming, but I don't think you can go wrong with anything. Butner has food options, but most of them are fast food and chains. I like that Plumpeez is locally owned and uses quality products. Even though we work in Butner, their location is ideal if you are travelling on 85. It's 3 minutes off 85. We look forward to going back and trying something new next time! read more

My bride & I returned a few nights after the online debacle to seriously give the place a try. The space is a former custom framing shop (which I once used to get my professional license matted and framed) in a nondescript metal building. Upon arriving, we noticed someone come to the door to unlock it. I get it since the parking lot is dark and the building isn't well lit. Good idea to keep it locked after dark until a customer gets there if you ask me. Coney Island - it's a pastrami sandwich, but with american cheese and on a hoagie roll - delicious. It's what they didn't have that I found somewhat disappointing. The deli case seemed nearly bare, and there was no pepperoni for my bride's 6th Avenue. We opted for another meat instead. There was also no Gabilla Knish. This got me to wondering if showing up later in the evening is a bad idea due to food running out for the day or we just picked a bad night, or they were waiting on deliveries. In any event, we enjoyed the food. Plumpeez could very easily compete with Jimmy John's as far as flavor and freshness of the sandwiches, despite JJ's seeming to have a little more variety for condiments and sandwich extras. It's worth not having to drive to JJ's in Brier Creek, RTP or anywhere 15-20 miles away and just go over to Plumpeez for some similar sandwiches. They will deliver, but only for a $40 minimum order, and a 15% gratuity will automatically be added to the delivery order. Nice addition to Butner. read more

Fantastic local deli! High quality ingredients (Boars Head), super friendly staff, and they take COVID seriously. They have a few wooden picnic tables with umbrellas if you'd like to eat there.
