Every thing I order here is always great and their prices are reasonable. Every time I come here everyone treats me nice. I quite often call in and get an order to go as I'm usually by myself. I've been eating here since I moved to Lynn Haven back in 2006. Their menu has something for everyone from low carb salads to all different types of fried food. I ordered their 2 piece Whitefish grilled and blackened and ordered a grilled Shrimp salad with their Homer's favorite Buttermilk dressing. This a great place for families to go to. This particular restaurant was once an old house That's been converted. Do, it has a nice homey feel to it. Very busy in the daytime here. It's a little more quiet in the evenings. read more

If you like Southern comfort food it's really good. The only downside to this spot is they need to totally go in and gut it and revamp it. It needs major dusting.....don't sit by a window unless you like flies! read more

The wait staff is always polite. The food is always what you expect. My issue is the booth seats and glass around the boots are very dirty. I don't feel like anything is ever wiped down and bathrooms could use a deep cleaning . They did get my order wrong but they did correct it immediately basically they just need to do a deep clean in the restaurant it's very dirty . read more

We visit this place fairly regularly. It is a good place to eat but today was a bit of a let down. Ordered 2 of the 2 piece whitefish dinners. Arrived home and found that they gave us each 1 piece of whitefish instead of the 2 piece dinners that I ordered. My fault for not checking before leaving but at least they only charged us for the 1 piece dinners. We usually order our whitefish fried but this time the wife got grilled and I got blackened. Her fish was undercooked and her mac and cheese side was very, very soupy. Not creamy but watery. My blackened fish was also a bit too translucent for my liking and I microwaved it for 30 seconds before finishing it. I had turnip greens and coleslaw for my sides. Turnip greens were ok but the coleslaw had hard, ground up cabbage cores in it. I'm hoping that today was a one-off experience. read more

Po Folks has been a staple of my family for (literally) generations. We've seen the restaurant chain slowly dwindle over the years which has been disappointing. We recently stopped by the Lynn Haven location for a family picnic and, once again, absolutely loved it. The food is classic southern cooking. We always get the assorted chicken box with several sides and biscuits. There's a family fight over the biscuits every time -- we all want to save the left overs for breakfast the next day! Dosen't look like much from the outside but as the saying goes don't judge a book by the cover! I was totally impressed and nicely surprised when I walked in the door, I was greated nicely, with smiling faces and I was seated very quickly. I ordered the one center cut pork chop meal and all I can say is the service and food was outstanding and the food was hot, fresh and delicious. Before I talk about the worst part ... the food, let's discuss the service. The host when you walk in and the server were very pleasant and attentive. The server kept drinks full, took out order quickly and food was delivered in 15-20 minutes. So far, all was good ..... until the food came. I had the Hamburger steak with gravy and sides of macaroni and cheese and cole slaw. My wife had the country fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. The sides were mediocre at best. I've had much better, but have come to expect mediocrity with sides. The main dishes were not good at all. Both tasted like frozen entrees. The Hamburger steak had the texture of a frozen piece of meat. The country fried steak pre-breaded and fried. The gravy was tasteless. All 4 of us agreed that the foods are amazingly good! The stake, pork chops, hush poppies, shrimps and even coleslaw are very good. What do these people have against food? Everything you ordered everything was frozen and fried not any of the R5 food was actually made by them and most of their food is fried food. My husband got a pork chop and that might've been actually made right there and it was actually OK tasting but there is another thing on the table of four people food it wasn't fried and they if it was made by them I doubt it. A complete and total waste of money and time. I got a piece of liver and I don't think that was fresh actually at all. I spit the first piece out. Forgot myself took a couple more bites and end up throwing up in the bathroom. Do not even waste your time going there to see how bad it actually is. read more

Really enjoyed this clean out of the way restaurant! We started with fried green tomatoes which were wonderful and very well made. My wife had fried chicken with fried okra and cooked cabbage and I had country fried steak with cheese grits and red beans and rice. Everything was very tasty, hot and well prepared. Our server, Amanda was very attentive and helpful and we noticed a lot of locals coming in which is a good sign for a business near a tourist area. Good spot for some decent (not delicious) southern food. The staff is always friendly & welcoming. The food is good. I always go with the the whole shebang salad. No shrimp, double chicken. That way I don't get a lot of grease in my dinner. The dinner roll does taste like a non glazed Krispy Kreme donut though. The biscuits better. The price is great and they have a good kids menu. First visit for dinner and have to say this particular place was a pleasant surprise! Constructed of two houses pushed together the ambience was great; very reminding of an old southern home rather than a sterile chain restaurant. Had the chicken platter 4 pieces and again was really pleased with the amazing crispness and no oil flavor of the oil chicken. Sides were fresh (mashed potatoes and green beans were my choice) and the biscuits homemade. Good number of wait staff and seems to be good attitudes all around. Used to eat PoFolks back home all the time with my grandparents in STL. Seeing my 3 kids playing the same game at the tables that we did was pretty neat! Went here to get a quick dinner. Got seated at a dirty table. Then 2 other parties got seated. They both got waited on while waitstaff ignored us. We walked out and let the hostess know why. VERY UNDERWHELMING. We had the fried catfish HOLD THE FLAVOR. And the fried pork chops with side of "meat, it's just okay". The sides were just as disappointing. Mac and cheese was flavorless despite being gooey. The rice and beans was just there. Nothing stood out that you can say wow ill come back for this. The most disappointing meal I've had in a while. A joy to eat there. The restaurant was clean and very eye appealing. We were seated immediate? And the host was very friendly. The good was except! Love some good southern, down home, cooking. Absolutely fantastic! I'd recommend this place to anybody, anytime, anywhere. I had the fish platter and it blew me away. Great food = see for yourself! Platter came with fried catfish, crab cake, fried shrimp, fried clams, two sides and a biscuit for under $11 bucks. Come on ... cut it out ... I even bought a shirt! We had a great time at Po Folks. Although they were quite busy when we arrived, we didn't have to wait for a table, the place was impeccably clean, and our service was excellent. We started with fried cheese sticks and fried green tomatoes. All very good. I had the chicken livers with black eyed peas and turnip greens. Outstanding chicken livers! The black eyed peas were a bit bland but easily saved by a bit of hot sauce, salt and pepper, and the turnip greens were good. My daughter had fried shrimp, hush puppies and french fries. She loved everything on her plate. The most incredible thing was the price! Great prices and very hearty portions for the quality of good, homemade food we received.
