I have had this place on my radar for a while but never seemed to make it out. I thought a perfect time to visit before the holidays get a little crazy! I went midday and surprisingly no one was there. Tiny little store but smelled awesome. Service left more to be desired. They were out of the Pork Green Chile but I was able to get the 2 that I wanted (Red Pork and Green Cheese). It's always good to ask if items are spicy or non spicy, and the cashier let me know the Green Cheese is spicy. I tried one which wasn't very spicy but the 2nd one I had, was definitely spicy! Depends who makes it and how much green chile they add. I don't see much cheese so it must have already melted into the masa. If you like it spicy (and can handle the heat), grab the green chile/tomato salsa - absolutely delicious! Red pork was also delicious. The sizes of these tamales are pretty big but not all consistent. Also they are thick masa. If they were just equal layers or thinner then they'd be perfect - but I don't mind the thickness. It was pretty expensive but hey, we typically only get tamales around the holidays so can't be helped. Other option would be to get your bags and freeze what you don't eat. Parking is off the street or surrounding neighborhood. They have a big open lot out front but not sure if it's for parking. read more

Overall, the flavor wasn't bad, but their tamales have more masa than ingredients That was the kicker for me. Their rice looked good, but had a fishy taste... that will be thrown away. Their refried beans had no flavor at all, but that can be doctored up so that it's edible. You win some, you lose some. They lost on this one. read more

Felt like Tamales for Christmas! As did many other Denverites as the lines were fairly long but service was quick. We had the cheese, red pork, and green chili ones as well as some salsa sides and beans. All were very good but we could have used some heat measurements on the salsas as a few were too hot for me. I've been waiting to try Pochitos for such a long time. I tried about two years ago but the line was insane and they sold out. Here we are two years later and I was finally able to go back. I understand why the line was so long that day (other than it being Christmas Eve). The tamales are huge and they have three types: red chile pork, green chile pork, and green chile queso. I tried both of the pork ones and both are delicious with a fun kick at the end. I also got some tortillas to go. The tamales are LEGIT. They're on the expensive side, but totally worth it because in addition to being delicious, they're huge- the masa filling is practically falling out of the corn husks and are loaded with chiles and pork. The rojos aren't spicy at all, but the verdes definitely have a nice kick. The verdes are available either vegetarian or with pork. read more

At the end of the day, when you don't feel like making tamales yourself, you can't complain. I am grateful for this location for just that, when I'm having a last-minute craving. The tamales are huge and always available. However, they are overpriced, and if you've ever had an authentic tamale, you know, that these tamales lack that authentic flavor. I typically order rajas and while they are not bad, they're not great. They have a flavor, unlike any other tamal de rajas I've ever had, and I can't put my finger on what it is. Heard great things about Pochitos and decided to give it a try as it's super close by. Needed some corn tortillas to make green enchiladas and got some habanero salsa along with some green chili pork tamales. All the food were delicious and the corn tortilla was so nice and soft... never thought I'd say that about a corn tortilla before. The reason I'm here writing a review is because of their habanero salsa, the salsa has warning labels on them and I highly recommend you to not get it if you can't handle spicy food. BUT! If you can handle spicy food, get some! It's so good, spicy, but has a ton of flavor too. Goes great on the tamales and also the green enchiladas I made. Service was amazing and the gentleman went in the back to get me fresh corn tortilla as he was out of the ones I'm looking for in the lobby. Thanks for the amazing service and quality of food! This is a cute little location where you can purchase several Mexican food staples. They have a fridge with grab and go beans, Mexican rice, green chile, red Chile, salsas, empanadas, biscochitos, and tamales. I ordered a peach empanada which was light and delicious. The dough they used for the empanada had great flavor. The filling wasn't too much or too sweet. It's was a very nice little snack. The tamales were big portions. I ordered a half dozen green chile and cheese tamales and half a a dozen red Chile and pork tamales. They were both delicious. As someone who recently moved to Denver from Dallas, TX, I was on a near 3-month long hunt for amazing flour tortillas, salsa, tamales, and sweets. I tried a few other places but their quality was lacking and didn't feel familiar to what I would have back in Texas or Mexico. My husband stumbled upon Pochitos TikTok and after viewing it, we knew we had to rush over to try it out. And that's exactly what we did. They close early on Saturdays and all day Sunday so we had to wait until yesterday to buy anything. As soon as I walked up to the driveway, I could see people working hard to making the tortillas just how I remember tortillerias back in Mexico. This sight gave me hope! Upon entering, I was impressed with the cleanliness and selection. It took a lot for me to not grab one of each thing available, but here's what I did get and immediately tried upon arriving home: - Refried beans: AMAZING! Just how my Mom makes them. Authentic AF. - Salsas: Someone must've been mad when making them because they were HOT! Love it. I grabbed the restaurant style salsa and that one was actually more spicy than the ones labeled spicy, as my husband snagged the __. - Flour tortillas: TOP NOTCH! Not comparable to my H-E-B flour tortillas but close enough and better than others I've tried. - Corn chips: These are my go-to now. Perfect with the salsa. Not too salty and fresh. - Bizcochitos: I'm no longer purchasing cookies elsewhere, this is my new official treat. I got a variety pack and each one was awesome. - Rice pudding: If you love sweet, this will be perfect. My husband likes it more on the plain side, as he considered this too sweet. They use sweetened condensed milk vs. whole milk, hence the sweetness. I also grabbed the red chile enchiladas (which I'm having for dinner tonight) and flan, but yet to try it. Although, based on the previous items I've already tried, I'm sure these are just as good. As a Chicana from Texas, what I've had at Pochitos took me HOME. I got Tortilla Chips, homemade tortillas, and a few fruit empanada options. I would definitely go back for the chips and tortillas. I went after reading reviews about their great tamales and onsite tortilla factory. To be fair, I don't think Denver knows what a good tamale looks or tastes like. Especially when it comes to the masa. I grew up in South Texas near a tortilla factory and you could smell the tortillas a mile away and even after walking in the door,,,,nothing. Yes there was a closed off area to the side of the counter but no tortilla making going on in there. Outside of a lady I finally found that makes her own tamales out of her home, the search for a decent tamale restaurant continues. read more

These were some great tamales. I've had tamales off of trucks, from trunks in parking lots and even from big box stores. These are large, like the size of a big ziplock bag standing up. That's what they sell them in. What I believe makes tamales great is when they are eaten fresh. That's just my opinion. But I also make my own corn tortillas cause store bought are gross. But who has time to make tamales. So... bring napkins or wipes cause they won't make it home. I would recommend eating them standing as I managed to get tamales all over myself and the car. Now I have to clean out the wife's car. A little spendy, but worth it. This isn't a restaurant, it's a little factory. There's a bar next door. Was in Denver and decided to get some tamales from Pochitos. Lord these were the biggest tamales I've ever had/seen in my life! We tried the red pork, green pork, and the rajas. The green pork ones were super spicy. Red Pork ones were very mild and they were actually our favorite. The rajas and cheese ones were my least favorite because I felt like they were mainly masa and didn't have enough filling. Overall, if I was in the area, I would definitely swing by for some of the red pork tamales again, but I wouldn't drive out of my way for them. read more

Tamales were moist but firm, very meaty, great flavor but the green pork tamales were so hot that they weren't enjoyable. At first I thought it was just me because I love chile but cannot eat hot chile but when everyone at dinner said they were too hot and I took some to work and they all said they were too hot I realized it wasn't just me. This is my second review on Pochitos. I have been there 4 times ordering tamales. I'm not sure why but the tamales are going downhill. The last batch I purchased 1/2 red and 1/2 pork green chile most of them ended up in the compost pile. They were very dry, the masa had no flavor and actually fell apart because they were so dry, the meat was extremely hot on the green pork and red meat was stringy and dry. I thought this was my new go to Tamale place but now I need to find another. Please correct the problem so people reading my first review aren't disappointed. read more
