Harborview Senior Assisted Living exceeded my expectations…read more After an increasing number of falls and associated hospitalizations, I was no longer able to care for my 91 year old mother at my home. She didn't want to have to move into an institution and I didn't want her in one either. However I also didn't want her in a place so small there wasn't activities and stimulation. I'm so happy that with the help of a placement guide we found HarborView. It's a beautiful mansion with manicured gardens set on a hill overlooking the stunning San Diego Bay that has 30 residents, a full staff and daily activities. After moving in we quickly found out that the staff is what really makes this place special. They are loving, attentive, respectful, courteous, caring and fun. There are always lots of smiles, laughter and music to enjoy as well as good food and the highest quality of care. I cannot recommend this place more. HarborView Senior Assisted Living was truly an answer to our prayers. It was the perfect place for my beloved mother's final days. It is a beautiful loving caring home, not an institution. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that the staff genuinely care about their patients. Every nurse, CNA, therapist, and team member showed warmth, kindness, and a level of compassion that created a true healing environment. What really stood out is how committed they are to helping patients maintain a sense of normalcy and dignity. They encouraged my dad to keep a daily routine--waking up, getting dressed, and enjoying his meals in the dining room rather than staying isolated in his room. That structure made a remarkable difference in his overall mood and recovery. The activities they offer are wonderful and thoughtfully planned. What a gorgeous place to retire in! My friend's apartment is really stunning - very modern, spacious, and with high ceilings and a patio. The landscaping is beautiful; people can easily walk to the dining room or to one of the many activities they have; and if you become less mobile, they have golf carts that will pick you up. The also send meals to people's apartments if they are unable to walk. The chaplain was super cool; they have lectures and film screenings; and the food was pretty decent! The patio was lovely, and inside lots of people were dining with friends. They have a daily special and then a regular menu. We got the soup of the day first (potato leek) which was yummy, and then I had a decent mushroom swiss omelette. They didn't have Dijon mustard, but servers were very nice, and they unfold your napkins like you're in fine dining. My friend also loves the dog park, and the beautiful old trees on the property, and the views of the ocean and PB are stunning. And we saw friends of his along the way too, and he told me about some of the other very accomplished and interesting residents. Looks like a great place to retire if you can afford it! (though it is way up on a hill, so if you're driving yourself, be prepared for the way up to be winding).

This agency was contacted a month ago by physician's office and accepted assignment per physician's…read moreorders. I was called by "Leah" who questioned orders and said she would call back tomorrow to make a nurse appointment for assessment and start of care. Silence for days as there was more discussion with doctor then calling me for same. They seemed to want orders changed and we spoke regarding my current company that could not staff. This all went back and forth until they pestered the company enough to secure discharge but not admitting whether they could staff. Once discharge was done by former company Leah admitted that neither the Los Angeles office nor the San Diego office could staff. For a company that covers this span of distance there was no excuse for this nearly month-long back and forth when they had no intention to staff as they had originally committed. This resulted in ridiculous waste of time for the doctor's employee and mine, missing out on service and continuing to decline. I had fully explained why the orders appeared the way they did and that nursing could be reduced. I believe that this constant dance was in order for me to be fully discharged by current agency, which succeeded, so that I would be desperate for at least some service, with no certainty of receiving necessary help. This didn't work. I was never seen for assessment or given a reason. This was a giant waste of time for me and doctor's staff and was inexcusable. This is a racket that fishes for assignment and accepts because they want to continue to receive doctor referrals for easy, brief patient care that can be denied and discharged soon. It gave them a bad look and I hope that future potential doctor assignments and patient acceptance of "care" be withheld due to unserious and manipulative , unfair delaying tactics to require orders to be reduced despite patient "qualification" and supported need. This is unethical and brutally shows no concern for patients in order to effect forced revision of care needs. Very sloppy, unprofessional tactics. I wasn't able to speak to Admin, Case Manager, or even a nurse to discuss and assess my needs and conditions. Be warned. THIS is their business, not appropriate patient care, but angling for less. We were supposed to get home health PT 3X a week for two weeks, then 2X a week for three weeks, then 1X a week thereafter until complete. Instead, we got nothing in week one, 1X a week in week two, then a couple weeks X2, then 1X a week, then... Just an absolute cluster of scheduling, which is terrible for the patient. Not recommended

They made his sudden and unexpected passing much less painful for our family because we knew he was in such good hands. We have discussed on several occasions how perfect it was to have him go there. We will never forget what they did for our dad. I truly hope there is a bed open if your family is in need of one. You will be lucky.

My mom was there for 2 weeks, and they were so attentive, kind, compassionate. Kept her comfortable, clean/bathe, checking on her every hour, turning her. The nurses and staff were very welcoming of our family coming to visit, my brother and I, plus our significant others spent days with my mom and we never felt unwelcome, they checked on us as much as they checked on my mom. On my mom's second to last day her family came to visit her, about 20 people, some in the room with her some out in the living areas, we were as comfortable as if it was our own home. It was truly a full circle care. I'm forever going to be grateful to Parkway hospice home and Sharp for making my mom's last moments as comfortable as they can be, under the circumstances.
