The Ocean Park Inn - 2 floor porch chairs

    The Ocean Park Inn

Quaint and no-frills, but great location, good price, and it gets the job done…read more Check-in is super easy, you can arrive after-hours if you must. It is billed as a B&B, so we sampled the options one of the mornings during our stay. Coffee and water, mandarins, and store bought coffee cakes were out, and the proprietor, who was super kind during the stay, made some scrambled eggs, which were really delicious. He had some bread and cinnamon raisin bread out, too, which we toasted. The room was decently sized and fairly clean, though there were some ants. One oddity is the bathroom situation. Our room had a private bathroom, which was a deal breaker for us. You can request that when you book. Most rooms share bathrooms - there are a few in the halls. The walls are pretty thin, and there was a definite clomper present during our visit, so we heard them a-clompin' from time to time. Overall, though, it didn't detract for us. The third floor has a nice little lounge and TV room if you need to stay indoors awhile, plus there are porches out front and on the second floor. Bonus points because at the entrance they sell "ping pong pals," which are ping pong balls with mini sunglasses. That's the stuff bonus points were made for. Extra bonus points for the single best selling point about this place - the location. They are a five minute walk from Ocean Grove's Main Street with its nice coffeeshops, bakeries, delis, shops, etc; less than five minutes walking gets you to the beach; and about 5-10 minutes across the bridge gets you to Asbury's main dining/night life area. That makes for an incredibly convenient stay. We were satisfied.

The Ocean Park Inn has board games and books in the parlor, rockers on the porch, balconies with a sea breeze -- and the owner is a great cook.

DO NOT STAY HERE:…read more Seriously. Save your money. Filthy, the rooms are terrible, and we literally found a human tooth below the bed. Mentioned it to the front desk and they were not bothered in the slightest. If you're desperate enough to consider this place, just sleep in your car. Yikes. There are also rat traps throughout the room, if that's any indication of the horrors to come. Dramatic, but just trying to help you out.

Oceanic Inn Pros: Great location, Clean, Quiet, Parking…read moreOn-Site, Excellent hosts, Smoke-Free Cons: Not a 5-Star ************************************************************** We were in Asbury Park for one night to see a show at The Stone Pony. First time in Asbury Park for both of us. We booked this motel thru a booking website. We chose this specific motel due to the location from The Stone Pony and to the beach. And...Because we were able to book just the one night. (We would have stayed another night, if we were able, but...had to go.) We had booked a Queen Room, which was upgraded to a Double Suite upon check-in. Two double beds, micro fridge, microwave, coffee maker AND...a kitchenette (sink, stove top and cabinets), which would be just wonderful for longer stays! Our room overlooked the parking lot and street...with a teeny view of the ocean! We arrived during the annual LGBTQ Pride Celebration happening all around, which had wound down by the time we got back to the room for bed. No street noise was heard. The room was dated, but SUPER CLEAN! (You could walk on the carpet with your bare feet!) NO SIGNS of roaches, bedbugs, ants, etc. (Which is super important to us!) Water pressure in the bathroom was good. Air conditioner worked, though we did not use it. Cable TV worked fine. Strong wi-fi in the room. Door locked securely. On-site parking. Check-in was swift and hassle-free. Rocky was gracious and quite hospitable. Location, location, location! About 5 miles off of the Garden State Parkway. One block from Ocean Avenue and the North Beach Boardwalk. 5 minute walk to the Convention Hall and the Paramount Theatre. 1/2 mile to The Stone Pony. Within walking distance to...EVERYTHING! Lots of safe walking opportunities. Besides being one block from the Boardwalk, it's a 5-minute walk to Deal Lake; 3 minute walk to Bradley Park; less than 1/2 mile walk to Sunset Park and just over 1/2 mile walk to Wesley Lake. (I'm an Aquarius, I was born a water baby!) Walking distance...in every direction...to lots of restaurants, etc. This is a SMOKE-FREE establishment!!! If you're going to be in that area, book a stay!

Splinter HELL, I hope you don't want ice…read more This hotel was fantastic at first, especially the corner pool terrace suite. Easy access to the pool, large and lots of light. But my god, it is splinter hell. Us, along with 3 other families that we knew of, were realizing at the pool that us and our kid's feet were completely full of splinters. We spent a total of about 3 hours at the pool over 2 days and my four year old had over 50 splinters in each foot! I had about 10 and spouse a few less. My four year old will not even let me look at his foot, nevertheless remove the splinters - yeah right. I think we are going to need to get sedated. This has ruined the stay to be honest. The hotel also didn't have tweezers. At least two families complained and nothing seemed to be done about it. The deck is extremely dry. This wouldn't be a hard problem to solve. ICE. I requested ice about 20 different ways, because there is no ice machine so they say just request it: - through the app on their tablet (3x, nothing) - through calling the front desk (2x, nothing) - in person at the front desk (2x, nothing) - through text to the front desk (4x, nothing) - in person to the person that came to the room one night (2x, 1x worked!) I got ice once, woohoooooo! The tablet is a joke. I needed an extra bedsheet and requested it through the tablet and it never came. In person at the front desk it did, however. Beautiful hotel, but the splinters ruined it. You could not pay ME to stay somewhere that my autistic kid gets 100 splinters in his feet. The hotel is feeling a bit neglected in some ways. Our "terrace" had algae on the deck area, one couch cushion had a big brown spot and there was half of a DEAD BIRD on our terrace. It was there the whole time. Of course my 4 year old was enthralled.Yay.
