Beautiful, gentle, and clean creatures
Amanda V.

Covid has encouraged us more than ever to become "tourists in our backyard". That said, we were looking for something exciting and classy to make our weekend trip to Point Reyes all the more special. We are so, so happy we stopped at Point Reyes Arabian Adventures. It truly lives up to its ratings on Trip Advisor and Yelp. BACKGROUND: I should preface my review with a brief story: a few years ago, my husband and I did horseback riding at a different place in the area. Although it was my husband's first time horseback riding then, his adventurous spirit did not take a liking to the experience. That he was not super excited when I suggested we try out Point Reyes Arabian Adventures made the fact thanked me several times for booking the 1 hour ride with Susan all the more telling of our experience. Upon arrival, my husband noticed how clean the horses were and that we had to wear a helmet (these were clear differences from our experience at the previous ranch). We also appreciated how Susan did require we wear helmets, as it is better to be safe than sorry. STATS: The first 25 minutes of our one hour ride were spent practicing turns, trotting and how to sit on the horse. We went through obstacle courses. Susan paid close attention to each rider to make sure their techniques were correct. Throughout the ride, she also balanced conversation with the riders while sprinkling historical/ecological facts about the region we traversed (She also got some great pictures of us, so extra plus). At the summit, we were able to see about 1/3 of the Tomales Bay. The views were really beautiful, and we did not see them while hiking. According to my Garmin watch, we covered 2.61 miles (average pace 29:40 min/mile) and ascended 446 feet. MISCELLANEOUS: You can fill out the waiver ahead of time on the website. Susan was nice enough to pair us with matching horses (Indie and Rabbit), making our photos all the more "instagrammable". We highly recommend Point Reyes Arabian Adventures for a memorable, exciting, and lovely adventure. In fact, we would recommend this place to our friends in California as well as our family in Europe (when they visit).

During the past five years I have ridden all over the world: Transylvania, Morocco, Colombia, Mexico, Portugal and more, but no matter where I go, returning to west Marin and riding with Susan is a joy. Her well trained horses, comfortable tack, variety of interesting trails and the opportunity to trot and canter are unparalleled. While I am an experienced rider, I can also vouch for Susan's ability to teach beginners- the right way to ride from the outset!

Susan operates one of the best trail ride operations we have experienced. The horses are her priority and the care she tirelessly bestows on them is clearly evident. They are happy, healthy, well adjusted, beautiful horses. Susan is also one of the best riding instructors I've had the pleasure to meet. Your trail ride will not be a boring walk on a well worn trail. She will patiently teach you to connect with your horse; and build respect and confidence with the beautiful animal that has granted you the privilege to ride on its back. Please do be aware that some of the rides will require a drive out from the meeting location. Estimate an extra 30 minutes before you get into the saddle. We had such a wonderful experience and will be back! Thank you Susan for a wonderful day out.

Best trail ride I have been on - beautiful horses and Susan was a great guide, wonderful ride all around. Great for experienced riders looking for a faster paced trail ride adventure.

We had the best day!

One of the best riding options in the Bay Area, not to be missed! I am an experienced rider and have ridden for years, I like to ride with Susan and her horses for both the Tamales Bay ride which goes up a nice hillside trail with a nice variation in terrain, and at the top there are amazing views of the bay and surrounding area. I also like to do the longer forest trail rides, and I always take my friends and visitors that want to try riding to Susan. Her horses are the absolute best "bomb proof" horses and I have ridden all over the world. Susan is a true horse whisperer and I trust her 100% with myself and the friends and family I have taken to ride with her. The area is stunning for beauty and Point Reyes is a wonderful little tiny town that is super fun to go have a drink or bite to eat after riding. There is also the oyster farms up the road and a Meadery across the road and Winery just up the road. All around going riding with Susan and then spending the day in Point Reyes is one of my number one top local things to do for a weekend. Come with a sense of adventure, be sure to wear your sunscreen, and you will have the best time ever! Susan is also really awesome with working with different levels so I can bring my friends that have never ridden but I too can also do a few canters and get to ride in a way that fits for my experience.

Susan the owner of the stable is a sweetheart. She is super knowledgeable and makes you feel comfortable whether you have experience riding or not. Her horses are wonderful. We rode Cody, summer, and Bella. The views are wonderful and we learned some things about the area and horses. Close to point Reyes town and Olema Campground. Highly recommended

Suzie leading the horses

Thanks to Yelp I found Suzie and her beautiful Arabians and Quarter horses. I booked a 2-hour ride with friends for my birthday and Suzie did a fantastic job providing instruction and guidance to everyone - especially because some of my friends had never been on a horse. Actually I need to give Suzie mad props in this area because one rider could not understand how to position themselves and she corrected them the entire 2-hour ride in firm yet friendly manner. Considering I was ready to hit them with the switch I have to admire Suzie for her patience. We went for a great ride at Point Reyes and I'm looking forward to going back again. She has been such a great mentor to my daughter as many of the leadership lessons with horses are so very applicable for a young girl's life lessons. For a young girl to have the confidence to lead these horses - it's just so amazing to witness. Recently we decided to take a staycation at her lovely home and rented out a couple of rooms for us for the weekend. Karin was such an amazing hostess from the very beginning when we got there, to the lavish exit from her property, as she had both her dogs positioned on either side of the gate at the end of her driveway as a send off. We stayed in a beautiful room with incredible views of the Nicasio reservoir. This is a must stay place for any photographer, bird lover, horse lover. It felt like we were completely in a different country, when we were only a 20 minute drive to our home. Karin made us an amazing breakfast each morning, while overlooking the reservoir, watching pelicans, falcons, and yes...bald eagles flying overhead! How incredible! Her house has several rooms to rent, and she also has a treehouse, which my daughter stayed in with her friend. They had a blast. A great skylight above the bed to stargaze. One night we enjoyed dinner at her outdoor 'cantina'. During the day, dipping our toes in the beautiful pool. The kids enjoyed chasing the little lizards that basked in the sun. We brought our dog who had probably the most fun of us all. Finally, a place where a dog can actually be a dog! Did I mention Karin is a fabulous dog trainer as well? Thank you so much for such a fabulous weekend that we will cherish always, Karin!

I would HIGHLY recommend the experience of being with these majestic horses that roam the 35 acres freely eating grass. The property is stunning, it feels like you're in Europe amidst the green rolling hills and Karin is also a phenomenal chef. She makes the worlds fluffiest omelettes for breakfast and incredibly authentic Danish dinners as well. It was so much more than a vacation for us, we will remember the things we learned here for a lifetime.

It was the get away I was looking for. There are a lot of trails, and while we didn't spend a ton of time right along the ocean, the hillside views were still really nice. We had a great guide. The setup is cute, and I loved that they let you interact with the horses beforehand -- they seem to take good care of them while still making it enjoyable for guests. On our ride, we were paired with a couple who has been taking lessons there and they had nothing but great things to say, which was really reassuring. Only downsides: the website is pretty confusing and pricing for certain things wasn't very clear. It is a bit pricey, though. That said, I'd definitely go back -- and if I lived closer, I'd even consider lessons. But it is just too far for me to make the commitment.

Amber was our fabulous wrangler. We checked in at the office and they gave us instructions to drive down the highway to another location where the horses would be waiting for us at the trailhead. This is where we met up with Amber and her dogs and the horses. The horses names are Kiki (Ambers), Quinn ( my wife's horse), Traveler ( my daughter's horse, and I got old but dependable Walter the former draught horse. We found out after a while that no matter how tall you are how big you are they have a horse for you and you just call up and tell them what your needs are and then make sure that you get a horse that suited it to you. Let them know whether you're novice or an experienced rider. That makes a difference in the selection, but all the horses are sweet. I cannot tell you how incredible it is to ride through the dunes and pop out onto the beach, looking at those white sands and crashing waves. It was such a beautiful day to go out. Taking in the views and talking with my wife a little more. Instead, I feel like Christina and I were sharing our life stories. Although I am not faulting her for the mutual conversation...... I just wish that the guides would keep it to the ride and landscapes vs trying to chat. The experience and this business is very lovely. I thoroughly appreciate the fact that I was able to text with the staff prior to answer any questions. I always prefer texting to phone calls these days. I would absolutely recommend Horse N Around to any of my friends that want to enjoy this type of activity. Again, I just wish that it was more about the serene experience, the horses, and beach vibes, with less chatter all around. Thank you to the team at large! Our guide was wonderful and friendly, the horses were absolute gems, and overall this is one of the best trail ride experiences I've ever had. Getting the mountains, water, and some redwoods was fantastic! We were fortunate to be in a small group (us and two others). It made the ride feel more intimate. I rode El Negro and highly recommend. His gait is smooth! (He is a walking horse after all). My boyfriend rode Leslie who was a bit slow and liked to trail at the back but sure footed and a sweetheart. We ended the ride with a glass of wine overlooking the lake. This space is often use for weddings as well and I can absolutely see the appeal! I would love to go back some day!!

If you only read one review, read this one! First, their music venue offering is quite good,…read morebeverage service in more than one area, usually food and ice cream, vendors varying event to event, live music, dancing, roping, cornhole. After going to the music venue for a summer, our son decided to get married there, and at first everything went smoothly, the owner we dealt with was Nikki and she was quite a good communicator, friendly and engaging, business like, although became a brusque and a bit snippy as the wedding grew closer. Our wedding planner sheltered us from most of it but said "this is how she talked to me the entire time". Not quite what we expected when you are throwing $10K + their way for a 5 hour time slot. Note: The bride bought her wedding dress from The Ranch during a wedding dress expo they put on. We invested in these people!!!! The 1-star is because when the wedding was complete and we were cleaning up, it was discovered we had danced on some rose petals in one section of the concrete in the barn, there was some staining from the red petals which we offered to clean up. At this point we were dealing with the husband, not Nikki. He didn't allow us to try to clean, as he was worried the cleaning might harm the sealer. He said it was sealed once a year, but in a manner that wasn't visible, nor an actual vapor barrier to the concrete as it can't be slippery when wet for safety. He said they had the concrete mottled with a brownish color and didn't want to possibly harm that with our cleaning. We were going to use water and Dawn dish soap as a start, mixing with some rubbing alcohol if needed, this is safe for concrete and grout. You can view previous pictures from others with time stamps, my pictures are time stamped 6/27/26 and you can "maybe" see what they are talking about, you can also see the concrete is far from perfect, many marks, cracks and stains. So, while we offered to clean it that night, or the next morning, we were refused. My son had taken out a $1MILLION insurance policy for this 5 hour event, and The Ranch has kept our $250 safety/cleaning deposit and filed a claim with the insurance, which is a $1000 deductible to us + the $200 for the policy. We also have email from Nikki exclaiming surprise that we are "coming at them this way". (Offering the insurance policy???) We tried to clean, were denied, and offered the insurance as well, what more could we do...but more importantly folks, this is a horse ranch! They didn't even clean up all the poop in the yard where we could walk! But our rose petals were the breaking point? It is noteworthy that there is NO clause in their contract denying rose petals. This is a wedding, so it's quite common for a flower girl to toss petals in the aisle. They are claiming that this concrete is special, was treated to simulate the look of leather because they are a horse ranch, and our rose petals have stained the concrete ruining the vibe for their music events and future weddings. (We have been to music events where they have had large carpets covering the entire seating area, with chairs on top, effectively hiding this concrete and the leather vibe they claim to want to portray. The staining was so very minor that we are worried the insurance will deny the claim and come after our son personally. Think about this for a minute - wedding, roses, minor staining that they have probably already cleaned up, it's a ranch where horses walk and do their thing, and they are making a really really large deal about this. I think this speaks to their character and just want anyone else looking to have their event here, to consider our experience. For us, we will not be attending another music event, we will share our experience with all that we know, and I hope that somehow the owners learn from this, and relax their stance and attitude a little, and realize that folks don't go to a horse ranch or a music venue to inspect the concrete. If this wasn't so serious for us, it would quite a laughable manner. Thank you if you have read this far. IMPORTANT: If the owners read this review and contact us to drop this frivolous claim, I will remove, or edit this review to 5-stars, because other then the "staining and complaining" this was a 5+ star experience for the rest of us!!!
