Michelle runs a quality operation and I won't ride on horses that are not well cared for because I respect them as intelligent animals of beauty and character. The horses were happy, groomed nicely and super well mannered, my horse was like being in auto pilot as he knew exactly what to do so I could enjoy the visual elements of the ride and pay attention to the tour talk of the oldest winery in CA at Bartholomew in Sonoma, right next to Buena Vista winery vineyards and along serene creek side trails that opened up to the vibrant mustard flowers meadows. They have different trail ride options from beginner to intermediate experience level of horse riders . The tour I chose included 2 bottles of delicious cab that you pick up by name at the tasting room on a hillside that overlooks the valley and wooded hills. I really enjoyed my horse and galloped some, he interacted well with all the other horses, of which it was a small group of 3 riders and a tour lead. Very interesting location for a relaxing ride from bat boxes to vineyard history, it was a memorable ride. The quality of the saddles and horses is high, with some horses being former show horses, race horses and all in great health. I will be back for a longer ride for sure! Michelle adjusted my saddle expertly so my long legs were perfectly fit to the horse and saddle, so no cramping or aches could occur. Outstanding experience overall! read more

My sister came to visit from the east coast. She was in Sonoma for business. She had one free day, Sunday. I found Sonoma valley trail rides via a google search. We planned to do a wine tasting after. Michelle from Sonoma valley trail rides texted me with a bunch of places to taste wine or vodka as well as places to eat. Anyway, the day of my sister and I pulled up. It was very easy to find. The place and the horses were clean and well taken care of. We rented cowgirl boots for $5 each. Michelle and the other guides were really great at giving us instructions during and throughout our ride. They were super friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I swear they matched us perfectly to the perfect horse. The ride was breathtaking. Stunning views but not too much to manage so we could take in the views as well as enjoy riding the horse. We got to gallop if we wanted to or lazily follow the horse in front. So it felt more like a horse riding experience rather than just being lead by a rope. I rode EZ, a stout, palomino quarter horse who snuffled me when I approached to mount. We rode through the vineyards, saw a Golden Eagle, and learned so much about the terrain and most importantly the cowboy lifestyle. Rode around the Bartholomew vineyards today with Tish and the other fine guides. They mounted me on a beautiful, unflappable Appaloosa gelding named Marcel. Such fine horses, well cared-for and sweet natured! Tack is kept in immaculate condition. We appreciated the historical information about the area and the attention to each rider. Such a fun experience!! Decided to go horse back riding for my birthday and so glad i did. My sister and I were the only ones scheduled for the afternoon session so we got a personalized tour. We had a nice trail ride with Michele at Sonoma Valley. They provided cowboy boots so no need to pack them and we rode in a winery. Nice breeze as it was hilly not completely flat and that gives you a nice view. Quick refresher lesson before the ride was helpful for our group. The place we rode was one of the sites in the wine movie " bottle shock" which was fun to learn.
