I came here once before but didn't have a chance to look around. I went to the restaurant and left. But this time, I took a chance to look around and marveled at all of the funky wood and metal treasures surrounding what would otherwise be a barren wasteland. The funkiness of the creative touches were cool. It was nice and sunny and there was a slight breeze. There were tables to sit, an unmanned cart for food, and the stage. I find it interesting that all of that was there because until I came to another restaurant in the area, I didn't know that this area existed. Now driving there is a beast because the roads are littered with potholes and there are areas where there is essentially one lane to drive, so you have to be very, very careful. But this spot, once you get to it, is it worth it? Maybe, it depends on what's going on. I'd love for them to have a bit more going on, but I respect the fact that it is so far out of the way that it may be a bit difficult. The marina down there is quite small and there's no way to tell how much business would come by that. So, this wouldn't be a destination like Berkeley or Richmond Marina's where they have options if you want to eat, but it's cute and funky and with the restaurant they have in the area, it's not a waste of time. read more

Just before the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, the final exit off the westbound direction of the 580 freeway had me curious. Seriously. Did Stenmark Drive actually go somewhere interesting? Well, it goes into a peninsula that looked pretty barren to me whenever I drove by it, so on a free weekday morning, I satisfied my curiosity and drove on this strangely semi-deserted, pothole-riddled road where I passed by abandoned buildings, a deteriorated pier, and a fairly desolate beach. I turned right over a hill where the pavement got smoother and the road narrower. Welcome to Point San Pablo Harbor. I caught sight of the eclectic houseboats on the harbor as soon as I rounded the bend. There looked to be a toll booth at the bottom of the hill, but it was abandoned. There was a pen of goats none of whom looked thrilled to see me (photo: https://bit.ly/33iQ2V1), and finally a large, unmarked gravel parking lot that was empty during the week but packed on the weekends. The most intriguing find was the mammoth sculptures that look like Burning Man remnants...a mosaic alligator (photo: https://bit.ly/3nqTnIv), a giant bee (photo: https://bit.ly/3tray0D), a broken-down ice cream truck (photo: https://bit.ly/3Gsf9TH). On certain weekends, they have live music on a makeshift stage set up in the open meadow, and there's a great open place for BBQ on weekends, Black Star Pirate, to which I brought Jamie W. on a follow-up trip (review: https://bit.ly/3ts46qc). It is a delightful, off the beaten track location. However, the infrastructure is a little shaky. We saw Chuck Prophet there last night and it was a great concert. But when we walked back to our car in the overflow parking lot along a path that took about 12 minutes there were no lights. When we arrived in daylight, there was a string of lights along the oath that was illuminated and then for some reason, they turned them off so we had to stumble in the pitch dark with only our phone flashlight. Also while driving out, there is a gate across the road and again no lights of any kind so we initially went the wrong direction and then finally figured out we needed to drive up to the gate and it would automaticallyopen. There were no people , signs or lights to guide you out. read more

We hosted our wedding here in September 2021 and it was absolutely magical. All our dreams came true at this perfect location--from the gorgeous waterfront ceremony and stunning photos with incredible sculptures, to a delicious outdoor dinner with live music and dancing the night away in the clubhouse for our reception. It was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish, as the event director went above & beyond to support us in every way. There couldn't be a friendlier community and we are infinitely grateful for the memories made at Point San Pablo Harbor. Highly recommend getting hitched at this enchanting gem! read more

I've loved this spot for a long time but there's been a change seems to have affected the energy at the Harbor. I found the article below which explains a lot. In the years of visiting the Sportsman's Club you felt like you were in a secret nook, with the chance of talking to the residents, learn about the history, and are friendly. But new ownership has taken over. I remember one of the first things they did was take down the old photos of the harbor that were hanging on the walls of the Sportsmens Club. ?? These were pictures captured the whaling history of the harbor, residents and settlers. Of course you can still talk to the residents if you venture over the hill, they're great. But since ownership has changed, there seems to be an intent to bring a Burning Man element to the harbor and squeeze what they can from the long time residents who deserve to be secure in their homes. Two stars, a star for the residents and a star for the scenery. No stars for the different owners. I discovered this place today, didn't know there was even a harbor let alone a restaurant way out there! Nobilis had it's Grand Opening today and it was jamm'in! It's a long trek out on a bumpy road and if you didn't know better you would think there's nothing on that side of the bay. (it's the opposite side from Point Richmond) take your time and enjoy the sites from the other side of the bay! read more

I've been here a few times with different friends because I want people to fall in love with the Sailing Goat just as I have! Great selection of beer and wine, amazing pizza (that's all I've had so far), looking forward to trying everything on the menu! Absolutely worth the drive, cosy, inviting, family/dog friendly, and then there's the fact you're on a beautiful waterfront! Went to a concert at the harbor meadow right next to restaurant and it was fantastic. Was introduced to owners Yaella Frankel and Rob Fyfe by Pete, amazing folks who are loving what they are doing! I was only there at night and I think it would be great here sitting on the porch on a nice sunny day. They are a comfortable place that feels more like a local community center with couches. The way the ceilings are it's hard to hear the music they way it's meant to be when a band is playing. Wine and beer only. Skip the sake, too sweet and weird flavor but my bad for trying a $14 glass of sparking sake here. I like the dogs walking around. It's a precarious bumpy pothole road on the way out here. I'd try again when it's daytime, we can see the road better and can just sit outside. read more

Hell yes! This place kicks so much ass and I'm sure many people will call me crazy for thinking so but I don't care. I'm not really sure how to tell you or even give concrete examples... it's just one of those places that reminds me of going on Goonies adventures as a kid and discovering someplace cool and growing up in Benicia with all the old abandoned buildings to explore and all those great North Bay memories. So the San Pablo Bay Sportsmen's Club is on the premises and it's more of a pirate hang out. It might not be the most glamorous place you can go but it's campy and fucking rad. The bar keep IS TOTALLY a poirate. There are poirates who live in the boats permanently parked in the harbor. Oh and poirates come and hang out here and play pool and darts and even ping pong and swig cheap $2 beers. Dude, seriously, if you ever broke into a construction site when you were younger (or not so young...), stole a road sign, or just appreciate the general fucking up of shit then this place is for you. best thing about this place seems the bumpy road and the Nobilis restaurant at the end. Restrooms rather lacking - the one in the Nobilis Restaurant had a mismatched toilet seat and was filthy. The beauty of the marina was wonderful and the tenants I met seem to love the place. I had a very odd encounter with a guy fishing - he was relieving himself on the shoreline and I walked up on him without realizing. Very uncomfortable but I guess that's the way it is out there. Be warned - you might be surprised if you're not careful!! LOL Really cool yurt on the hill - I hear they are going to be doing glamping here by the end of the year. It will be a great view - yurt over looking the bay -very beautiful setting!! read more

Loved it!!!! Good food good service and unique location . Only down fall is traversing the pot hole trying to get there

First, a little local knowledge about how to approach from seaward if you choose to visit this place, and if you are right type of person, it is a must see. 1. Start from the Red #2 buoy and if coming from the west, don't try to cut straight south across that mud flat, because you will be sorry. Go to the #2 buoy. 2. Follow just off the shoreline until you see the two white stakes sticking up to your left. Stay to the right of these--there is a wreck between them (see, Elmer? I told you not to cut across that mud flat). 3. Once past these you will see the entrance, which is well marked. Once inside, don't wander off to the left (westward), particularly at low tide. It is shallow and there's no reason to be over there anyway. Find an end-tie, mosey up to the office and announce your presence and the lovely Roz will get you settled where you belong. Then, have a beer and enjoy the company. Now then, the review. I ran out of gas, which I am loath to admit, just north of the aforementioned #2 buoy in 20 knots of wind and a rather testy wife onboard who said an hour earlier, "Don't we need to fuel up before we head for the Delta?" "No, no," I replied, "we have plenty of fuel." Silly me. I found the Point San Pablo Yacht Harbor just before my paper chart blew off into the water and Testy Wife got a phone number from her fancy smartphone. Instead of telling me to call Vessel Assist and quit bugging her, dear Roz sent out a dock crewman with five gallons of gas. I still couldn't start the engines, so she then sent out the crewman and husband Erik. Erik is a fellow who has obviously dealt with plenty of stupid boaters, but never a cross word escaped his lips. We put in another five gallons and he crawled in the engine compartment to find that my fuel valves were not set correctly. The engines started right up and he rode with us to his docks so we could get in safely. After using up another hour or so of his time the guy wouldn't take as much money as he deserved and he sent us on our way with good wishes and a follow-up phone call the next day to make sure we made it home alive. I can't thank him enough. It was the kind of experience that restores a person's faith in humanity. Best wishes to you both and we will visit again under better circumstances, I hope. read more

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with everyone else on this place. In the age of the beige tract house, where everything is cookie cutter perfect and your average neighborhood has the personality of a barcode, it's always nice to find a place like this. Relax at the cafe, enjoy a walk on the beach, examine rusty relics, or chat with some of the friendly residents. The Point San Pablo Yacht Harbor is a great place to play castaway for the afternoon, pay a group visit to, or to just sit on the dock and watch the tide roll away. read more

My boat lives there and when time permits I am allowed to visit it and it's a great place. A lot of nice folk around, especially Roz and Eric. Quiet at night when staying aboard and a great kick-off point when time to set sail. Wish I could afford to live there. Maybe someday read more
