We came in right off of kayaking to this sweet place. The food was excellent. Had grilled chicken tacos that had a crunchy griddled cheese in it and amazing flavor. Also had the cheese steak which was also excellent. The staff or owners were super nice, and the decor is an eclectic antique style that was fun to check out. They had a pizza in special that we didn't get, but it sounded amazing. Fresh peaches, prosciutto, fresh mozz, basil and a balsamic glaze. Would love to go back again for another food experience.

This place is cuuuuuttteee. Recently open and I mean very recently, as we went on day three of operations. Now we were kayaking nearby and upon return, the place we rented the kayaks from told us about the pleasant little Tavern that opened up right down the street. We were hungry having just navigating the river for a few hours and decided to try them. Excellent decision. It was Labor Day and typically they are only open on the weekends and I believe Thursday evening but it was opening weekend and a holiday so they must have made an exception. I bet they were happy that they did because in the time we were sitting there the place filled up to capacity! This tavern is charming and who does not want a beer to sip on after a hot trek down the river. You almost expect they would not have alcohol, but they do and craft beers on draft to boot! They have a very simple menu, but they will customize. I went with the Anti-pasta skewer, but I customized it quite a bit that it was not at all what they intended. It was supposed to come with a skewer of Italian meats, mozzarella balls, tomatoes, and olives over a bed of greens. I requested a big change up. Chicken no Italian meats and add ever veggie you have including apples. Wow! This salad was awesome! However, for the $10.00 price tag it was too small. It needs to either be bigger, or cut down to about $7.00. Service was very nice but a little slow, but there was only the one woman working the bar. There is no table service, you order at the bar and chose a table if you like. We would definitely make a return visit next time we are in the area for kayaking.

Good local beer selection, they also have mead and wine. We like to split nachos and a sandwich. Very friendly owners.

I had the…read moreShotgun Shrimp and the Nachos with chicken. the 2 others in my group had Chicken Tenders & Fries, Rival SmashBurger and Rival Stix. The Shrimp was reminiscent of Bang Bang shrimp. Its a decent serving size for an appetizer. I enjoyed it. The nachos were surprisingly tasty. When they came out I was unsure about them because any other time I've ever ordered a loaded type nacho they're, how do I explain it, more colorful I guess. Usually its like bacon and American cheese, guac, pico, etc., but these were just shades of white and green. I wish I could've finished them but the portion was quite a bit for 1 person. My only gripe would be the chicken. It reminded me of the meat you get in a launchable. I think I would rather prefer a crispy diced chicken. But that's just me. The other 2 didn't have any complaints about the Rival Stix or the burger. The Chicken Tenders were said to not have much flavor in the breading. The person who ordered them didn't care for the breading. I was also tempted into some sort of creme brulee donut I think. It was really good but I was already so stuffed from the nachos that I couldn't finish it. Its for the sweet tooth folks. The general space is all sports themed as expected. Quite spacious. Seems like the perfect place to come after work for a beer...and nachos!

The burger was juicy and the Rival Sauce was some kind of aioli that added some zip to it. The fries were crispy but not overcooked. The Great White Hype pizza was basic. Nothing outstanding, but not bad either. I have been to this location three times and I would say the food has been hit-or-miss. Service has also been spotty. During lunch (my first trip), our waitress was very attentive, drinks were consistently refilled, and our food came out promptly. The second time, I had to flag down our waitress quite several times to get anything. Nothing to complain about when it comes to the prices. Everything is standard and they have some solid happy hour offerings that extend until 6:30pm while others start after 7pm. On a scale of 1-5: Food - 3 Service - 3.5 Price - 4.5

First thing that struck me was how much brighter and cleaner and better decorated it is than the one by our house and for that matter most of the other locations I've visited. Granted this one is maybe a year or so old. On this visit I decided to get the Oven Baked Italian Crostini. I've had it numerous times before and I find it to be decent sandwich. I however swap out the dressing they always put on it and will use balsamic glaze if I'm at home or if eating in, I'll ask for a side of balsamic salad dressing. The sandwich is a pretty cheap option and comes with a mound of fries. We visited in a Saturday and so I chose the daily special tall pour of IC Light. I thought everything was decent. Seemed a bit better than the one by our house. My wife ordered her go to which is the cheesesteak bomb. It's a huge sandwich that also comes with a mound of fries. Recently we've been disappointed when we've ordered them as the meat has had some gristly pieces in it which kind of makes us stop eating. But she gave it another try and thankfully had none of the gristle in this one. The restaurant was not very busy do a Saturday afternoon, perhaps because of inclement weather expected and it was the last day for students at IUP before winter break. Despite the place being fairly empty, the service was lacking a little. In summary; newer and cleaner location, food a little better, service fair.
