This is a hidden gem in Latrobe. The dining experience reminds me of The Bear, as everything on the menu is farm to table and the menu is curated on a week by week basis. For years, all I heard about was Wagyu steak. Admittedly, my ego stepped in and said I didn't need it, a New York strip is fine. I was at Maileys, saw it on the menu, and the waitress said she only had 2 left. I got it, and... It was single-handedly the best steak I've ever had. This restaurant is always 5 star for everything. Celebrated my birthday here by choosing the Summer Special Japanese Wagyu steak. My husband chose the American Wagyu and we has a taste comparison. I liked the Japanese flavor and texture better, it was melt in your mouth buttery. That's due to the intense marbling of fat in the meat. My husband actually preferred the American Wagyu flavor, saying it tasted "meatier". No matter which you choose, they both were delicious and came with a side of German potato salad and Mexican street corn salad and watermelon with a dollop of whipped feta cheese. We started the meal with the Crab Salad appetizer. perfect for 2 people. A tasty mix of crabmeat on top of a crispy tostada. We ended the meal with a peach creme brûlée. Just enough food to make us both feel sated but not overstuffed. I also tried the Peach Iced Tea which was white tea with dried peaches and apricots. Very refreshing! They have a whole menu of Iced Teas to choose from for the summer months. The restaurant was packed as usual. You need a reservation for sure. Incredible. What an unexpected space and restaurant. We went on a Saturday night and it was amazing. From the moment we stepped inside to saying goodbye. We were greeted by the owners and stayed off with many appetizers. I can't decide what my favorite was but the tuna is exceptional. The bone marrow was a big hit as were the oysters. Any item on the menu would be a good choice (trust me we tried a lot). A must is the bread bowl with a smoked butter that is out of this world. Soup and salad was next. The mushroom bisque was a sight to see with table side pour over. All of our entrees were made with perfection and photo worthy. And after all that you will want to skip dessert but don't. Finally made it to Maileys Provisions, they are in my backyard (almost) and home town. An add popped on Social Media indicating they had Wagyu steak with black truffles over the weekend so when they opened on Wednesday I called for a reservation contingent on the availability of the Wagyu. The meal was phenomenal! We started with Bone Marrow and Foie Gras appetizers they were on point! 2nd course a Caesar Salad and Three Bean salad (this was not your grandma's picnic bean salad see photo below) yes it was served with an iced cream (herb based I think) but it was delicious! This place came highly recommended and didn't disappoint! Maileys Provisions has such a cool relaxing vibe! So unique! We started with the bread plate and onion soup. I like to think myself as a conisour as far as onion soup and this ranks top 5 easily. I ordered an entree of the pistachio crusted lamb kabobs for myself and steak frites for my wife. Both were delicious and perfect! Nancy and Chef Adam were so friendly and helpful. They both made sure everything was perfect! We finished with the Banana Split which is a bananas foster stuffed crepe served with homemade ice creams. We suggest skipping lunch so you have room to share this!! A fantastic local restaurant. I can't believe this place was in Latrobe--felt like it could have been LA or San Francisco. Everything we had was stellar--duck confit, lobster cornet, asparagus salad, crab salad, and trout almondine. Stellar service. We spent three hours eating and talking with no one rushing us to leave. They don't have a liquor license so you can bring your own wine--they'll give you an opener. Reservations highly recommended. read more

Unbelievable bistro in downtown Latrobe! Eight of us just spent an evening in 'nawlins for a dinner benefiting the community and it's partnership with St. Vincent College. Outstanding service by Tom and warm hospitality by proprietors, Adam and Nancy. Each course was better than the next, but I'll highlight a few. The charcuterie board was lovely and had plenty of options including some beautiful cheeses, figs and berries. I don't particularly like oysters but the broiled oyster amuse-bouche was a lovely way to start us off. There are no words to adequately describe the crab cake topped with a gorgeous remoulade and chow chow. Several amazing courses followed. Suffice it to say, we had to take our local smoked pork chops to go, but had enough room for some miniature beignets with Cafe DuMonde ice cream. It's BYO all the time. A hidden treasure in Latrobe. Love this place--the service, the food and the ambiance. All so perfect. Small and cozy , this place is everything we are looking for in a town filled with fried cheese, chicken sandwiches and burgers. The menu is refreshing and interesting. We loved our short ribs, the pot pie is so fresh and good. The desserts are creative and delicious. My husband and I were in Latrobe to see roadside attractions when we found this amazing new restaurant. The owner/chef and the menu are what caught our attention. Our dining experience captured our hearts. The building is in the middle of Main Street, and it has been nicely updated in a way that reflects its history and looks chic, modern. Love the inclusion of Andy Warhol art! We were greeted by a very sweet dog as we waited to be seated. We were lucky on a Monday night to be seated without a reservation. You might want to make one! Lucky for us, seats were available right at the open kitchen. We had the pleasure of watching Chef Adam and Chef Shawn cook and plate. The menu reflects French-style cooking. Each dish is precise and refined with big flavors. Chef Adam has nods to his Maine upbringing and recent Maryland experience. He vowed to always have some kind of banana split dessert on the menu, a tribute to his new hometown. Nancy is a super friendly host. She made us feel welcomed and taken care of. Her favorite dish is the duck. We were trying to save room for dessert, so we ordered thoughtfully: crab dip, asparagus salad, and the salmon en papillote. Of course, we had the banana split dessert, which was a great play on the traditional dessert. Throughout the meal, we were able to learn more about and connect with Adam, Nancy, and Shawn. This is what made our meal truly special. It felt like we were dining with friends. Even if you are a few hours away from Latrobe, make a point to eat here. This is the best food I've had in our Greensburg/Latrobe/Jeannette area in ages! Mailey's Provisions does not sound like a French restaurant, but it is. Among the 6 of us, everyone loved everything we ate, from oysters and salads, through various entrees and amazing desserts. The space was unpretentious and cozy. We also like the BYOB with no corkage fee. Nancy was thoughtful and patient in answering all our meal choice questions. Her husband, Chef Adam, stopped by our table where we thanked him for such a great dining experience. This will become a go-to spot for us. read more

Three of us got bowls of chicken soup. Turns out the "soup" was the insides of their chicken pot pie. Not remotely soup. Seems I got all the chicken, another got lots of potatoes and the remaining got lots of dumplings. Not uniformly distributed among all the bowls. Would not get again. My entrée was the Old Bay Fettuccine. The homemade pasta was great. It had minimal crab but did have some mussels. I would get again but doubt I'll ever go back. Too froo-froo for me. I had heard so many great things about this place from friends, so I decided to book a reservation for my partner's birthday. What a treat! There were so many tempting options on the menu that I had a hard time choosing. The pita plate was incredible - the fresh ingredients had the unmistakable taste of homemade care, and the freshly made bread was a perfect touch. The walleye was exceptionally fresh as well. I also had the french onion soup and Caesar salad. Loved them both! The owners were wonderful, and the warm, historic atmosphere made the experience even more special. Decor is lovely, music is great and the food is excellent ! Tomato pie is craveable and my salmon entree was perfectly cooked. Love that the menu changes so often. I will be a regular customer. All 3 of us loved our entrees. Risotto with trout was delish. Desserts were ok and the chocolate gateau was a bit dry, so next time I will order more appetizers instead of a dessert. My fiancé and I had the best lunch here! The food was incredible. We had the crab dip to start and it was phenomenal. Huge pieces of crab!
