Post-ink pic of Angelina's traditional work.

I can't overstate how awesome this place is! I have quite a few piercings and other tattoo shops I've gone to have had really uncomfortable atmospheres. Poison Ivy Ink is the polar opposite, all the artists are super friendly and talented. If you are a woman or queer person, this is the shop for you! I've specifically been working with Angelina on a (mostly) traditional style patchwork sleeve, and I think the progress speaks for itself!

This was the inspiration photo for the colors.

I got a color tattoo done here. I showed the photos of what I wanted. I did not feel the colors were what I asked for, or in my opinion even finished. So I asked to have it fixed. I was told that I got her best color person, so I should go somewhere else to get it fixed and was offered a refund. I did not ask for one at that time. The next day the refund offer was taken back and I was told they would fix it. I said I wasn't comfortable with that since she said that was their best color person. I was then asked to sign a non disclosure if I wanted to get a refund. I sent it a few days later because it will cost me $300 to have it fixed and I already paid $400 plus tip for the first one. I didn't hear back from them for several days. I then texted her to say the paper was no longer valid since I didn't get a refund. I was told I was not getting one because I left comments on someone else's review prior to signing, saying what I just said here. I am now being threatened with a law suit for defamation. The color was not done well in my opinion, and I asked to have it fixed. That was all I wanted. To have my tattoo finished like I asked. Would definitely not recommend! UPDATE: I went to True To You Tattoo in Melbourne, FL and Eliza did a gorgeous job fixing the mess Poison Ivy Ink made! Now my tattoo looks like it was supposed to!!! I will add a photo of the fixed tattoo. Save your money and time and go somewhere that values its clients and the art involved in making a good tattoo!

The atmosphere was really comforting and inviting. Past shops i've been in have always made me feel like i didn't belong but here i felt i did. Courtney couldn't have been better! It came out amazing and was exactly what I wanted. I definitely recommend this shop.

I had the pleasure of getting a tattoo from Julia! Such did such a beautiful job and overall everyone at the shop made me feel comfortable and welcomed!

Ask for John Cole, hands down the best artist I've met. John did my 5th tattoo last spring when I…read morewas in Tampa, a crisp custom stingray, and I went to see him for my seventh, a custom bluebonnet, when I was back in town. John wouldn't start the drawing until he found large, detailed images which depicted the bluebonnet in various stages of bloom, so he work would be accurate. Other artists might have settled with approximating the flower, but John wanted to see the composition of petals and at what stage in bloom the flower displayed white and pink. A bit Discovery Channel esque and totally worth it. Once we had the basics done, my friend and I grabbed dinner while John finished the sketches. We did the same design but at different scales and places. Thank God she went first, so I could see her gorgeous tattoo before I got started. My tattoo took longer than I expected, and I hit my wimp out point. John was amazingly patient and professional, letting me take breaks when needed. I haven't had to stop a tattoo before and he was very kind. End result is AMAZING. Like really amazing. I'm glad I sucked it up and I'm coming back for another one next time I visit. You won't get a better tattoo or experience in Tampa and I'll cross the country to come back.

Second tattoo from this establishment that the Queen Bee has been using for years. Jeff the owner…read moreof the place is a no nonsense guy who won't BS you and doesn't take short cuts. The missus won't go anywhere else and I can see why. She won't let anyone else but Jeff work on her either. Period. There are all kinds of designs hanging on the walls and in poster boards near the windows. Plenty of design books and body piercing jewelry in showcases also. Showroom is downstairs and the studio itself is upstairs in an old, raggedy building that's probably stood over 100 years in Ybor City. I don't like this neighborhood at all, but seeing Jeff is well worth the trip so long as it's still bright out. As I stated, studio is upstairs and is quite sanitary, clean and squared away. Lots more designs and pics up there as well. Jeff definitely takes his time and does stuff the right way. You cannot be drunk, zonked or stoned and expect ink here; he won't risk his craft for an idiot. He and the staff definitely view this as art as well as business. Most of the Queen Bee's work isn't from a design book but rather original. Mine is sort of in between the two but either way, they do it all here, as well as permanent makeup. Jeff certainly knows what he is doing and could probably get away with making more than he does, but he has a loyal following so why ruin a good thing? I love seeing the little guys of life do well!

I went to this establishment today 4/30/2024 to get the $20 tattoo deal with 3 of my friends. When…read morewe first walked in, the receptionist with jet black hair, drawn on eyebrows, hispanic but she was white passing didn't greet us and just told us to fill out the forms outside. My first friend went to get her consultation with Seth, and he was very kind, making jokes with us and his work was done very well. My other friend and I were gonna get matching tattoos (very similar tattoos) and while she was consulting with Seth, the receptionist put me with another tattoo artist but she was the one consulting me, not the tattoo artist. I was showing the art that I wanted to the artist, but the receptionist took over the conversation and told me it would be $70 for the tattoo i wanted (see attached). She, the receptionist, said each star was $20 and shading was $10. The placement was supposed to be on the upper right part of my wrist, which is very small and I explained that each star would be really small but she still said each star is $20. Seth charged my friend with the matching tattoo $30 and her placement was on the back of your ear while mine was on my arm. Seth charged my friend an extra $10 because the placement wasn't included in the deal, though if she got her tattoo on her arm he would have done it for $20. After hearing this, my friend who was wanting to get our matching tattoo came over so we could consult with Seth to see how much he would charge, but the receptionist interrupted and told Seth that we can't change the $70 price. My friend said "we aren't trying to change the price, we're just confused about the consultation" and the RECEPTIONIST said "i already explained the prices to her (me)" with an attitude. We were the only people of color/ only dark skin people in there so it seemed like she was calling us cheap and insinuating that we didn't wanna pay her "fair" price even though HER pricing was definitely inflated. This whole situation was really suspicious and it just seems like she is messing around with the other tattoo artist I was consulting with or she has some familial relationship with him and that's why she was trying to charge me such a high price when my friend with the same tattoo got charged less than half of my consultation. The receptionist and my tattoo artist were also speaking to each other in spanish the whole time so it could be construed that they were talking about charging me a higher price for such a simple design. After we left we decided to call so we could get her name to leave a review, but when we asked for her name she ignored the question multiple times and when we asked her name a final time she said "i don't have a name." We were all shocked at this response because a receptionist should not be acting this way so we hung up. She then called back telling us her name is "Naomi." We are not completely sure if the receptionists real name is Naomi or if she lying. I just want to clarify Seth was a great tattoo artist to my friends and I wish he could have done mine. If Seth is employed somewhere else I will definitely be seeing him, but I will not go to ink wolves again. If you plan on going, be prepared to be given attitude from the receptionist.
