The tattoo shop is nice and clean with a restroom and waiting area. The tattoo artists are good people and their work is quality. I got my tattoo done by Lauren and she was so sweet!! Seriously the best. They will charge you a fair price and be upfront about what they think in terms of longevity and your tattoo looking decent. She was able to draw mine up fairly quickly after i sent her the inspiration photos. It is healed now and i absolutely love it still! Amazing work. read more

I've been getting tats for years and this place is fantastic. Although I've only been going here for a year or two, this establishment is consistent in cleanliness, professionalism, and friendliness. Just super nice, funny, amazing individuals. I have only gone to Cody (he even walked to me to my car tonight after a long session), but everyone shows everyone else their tats at the end of each session and I can tell you that Cody, Joe, Mike, and Andrew all do amazing work and they each have their own style. This shop has a great vibe, everyone clearly gets along, and you can see the collaboration and friendship among these guys. If you're going to get a tat in Tampa, do it here. read more

If you are in the market for a new tattoo, I highly recommend going to see Joe at Hawks Electric Tattoos. I was 100% happy with my experience from start to finish. It's a small shop, consisting of Joe, another artist Jon, and I think they have a part-time guy, too. I dropped by on a Wednesday after work to meet with Joe and discuss what I was in the market for. He did a quick sketch right there and then and estimated it would take about an hour or so to do. Fortunately, he was able to fit me in the following Saturday, as he had just had a cancellation. I was lucky - it looks like he's booked about a month out. Joe used to be Marine, and then he was a firefighter for 11 years, so that makes up quite a bit of his regular clientele. He was very friendly, organized, personable, and polite. After he completed a sample sketch for me, Joe texted it to me so I could make any corrections or change anything. When I had a few minor alterations, his response was "no problem". That's what you want to hear! When I showed up Saturday, he was all ready for me, proceeded to sanitize everything, and took the needles out of their wrappers right in front of me - so I could actually see that all was new and clean. The tattoo took over an hour, but he still just charged me what he originally quoted me. Before I left he reviewed the post-tattoo care with me, as well as gave me sheets of written instructions. Walked in to get my first tattoo. Was looking at some flashes and Aiden came over and helped me pick a design. We settled on an eagle he had designed that I was beyond happy with it. He took his time walking me through the process. All around the shop was amazing, cleanliness and atmosphere were great. I'll be back to get more tattoos from Aiden! I've been going to Bobby for my tattoo needs for about a decade so it only makes sense that I came to him when he got settled in at Hawk's Electric Tattoos. I have to say, though, that I've really enjoyed all my visits to see him here. Any time I've spent while Joe is there is always great and I enjoy the atmosphere at this shop immensely. Now on to the important stuff. I'm not an easy client to work with. I'm not an artsy person and I have a difficult time explaining the ideas I have in my head. But I gather pictures I like (even if I don't know why I like them), email them with all of the words I can muster to Bobby and let him do his magic. Most recently, he designed a chest piece that I've been mulling over for years. I had literally the best experience from the moment I walked in the door until I left. Everyone at the shop was so cool and down to earth. This is the best tattoo shop I have been in my life. The artists are super friendly, the shop is very clean, and they will take a basic tattoo idea and turn it into a beautiful design. I DO NOT recommend Max Councill to anyone. I sent him pictures of what I would like in regards to a tattoo and he was very unprofessional and told me verbatim, "Hello. I don't have time for all of that tomorrow sorry." I then called him asking if we can reschedule an appointment for the following weekend and he went ahead and told me that all of that can be orchestrated via email. First and foremost why not take my appointment over the phone since I was already speaking to you? Thankfully, I was able to find a reputable tattoo artist that was willing to take his time out and listen to my wants and needs and schedule an appointment for me to get my tattoo done tomorrow. So sad that this review and Max makes the company look bad as a whole. I will never seek services from here again. Do better ppl on who you hire smfh. read more

I love this place! I get all my work here now! ( and around the last 4 years). I drive almost an hour to see him, and pass multiple shops on the way. Besides Joe's amazing artistic skills, he's a cool kat to chat with during all those hours of work. Great line work, beautiful colors! Be sure to check them out. I booked an appointment online for a tattoo consultation. I received a confirmation and arrived as scheduled at 12:45. After standing outside the door knocking for a few minutes, I called. The woman on the phone first said there was no appointment, then changed her story and said it must have just come in and that the artist couldn't meet with me because he was in a 6 hour session. I did appreciate that after I told her I couldn't come back later in the day, she took down what I wanted and said she'd speak to him. I wanted a VERY small addition to an existing tattoo. She said she'd get back to me "within 2 hours." More than 4 hours later, I called back for an update. She was very rude on the phone, saying "I told you he was in a 6 hour session." She said she didn't want to bother me if he hadn't looked at my request, but we had texted already so I don't really see how a "it'll be a bit longer than expected" text would be a bother. Anyways, I didn't receive any sort of response until the following afternoon, more than 24 hours after my scheduled appointment time. In the text, I was told that the artist would only do the tattoo addition if it was doubled in size (something I specifically said I didn't want), that it would cost $500, that he was booked out for 4 months, and that to have any sort of sketch I had to put down a deposit. I've gotten tattoos before and would *absolutely* pay that much and wait that long for something that's going on my body, if it was what I wanted. However, the fact that the service was so bad even for a simple 30 minute consultation and that he wasn't even willing to discuss doing anything the size I wanted ensured me this was not going to be a good fit.
