a bowl of rice, meat, and seaweed

Still operating with a high plexi glass wall and a two way intercom system. Dine in is still optional.

I love Poke Bros. I couldn't resist getting a bowl while in Columbia. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. I customized my bowl like always--with brown rice, shrimp, edamame, cucumbers, corn, sweet soy, and sesame seeds. The portion size is great and the prices match. The place was pretty empty and the service was really fast. Convenient location but the area can get congested. Don't forget to pick up a loyalty card.

I had always been very turned off by the concept of Poke but my friend convinced me to eat here for lunch today. I stand corrected. For starters, while they do have raw fish options there is also chicken, shrimp, and other protein options! I went with the Hula bowl, one of the menu bowl items but next time I will build my own. I strongly recommend checking out the menu before because I felt a little overwhelmed being a first timer. The staff was SO friendly and my only regret is that I was way too full to try the mochi ice cream. The portions are SO generous and everything tasted so fresh. This location was also very clean as well. I will definitely be back!

Inveterate land lubber that I am, I love beef and chicken. Sounds pedestrian, but I'd guess I'm solidly in the majority on that loyalty pledge. Still, there are days, when I really don't want to see either at my next meal. I think that is why sushi is so popular, even for many of us who grew up some distance from the coast. Today, I ran into a Hawaiian style fish place called Poke Bros whose concept comes across to me as "build a sushi-like meal in a bowl". I had their signature Johnny Utah bowl. It had salmon, cucumbers, avocado, edamame, those tiny orange fish eggs, rice, and some other items. I added, tempura flakes, cashews, and shredded seaweed. Simply put, the flavors were great. I didn't start out looking for a sushi-like lunch, but was really glad I did. It was delicious and much healthier than what I might have gotten. If I am in this section of Columbia SC again, it will definitely be on my list of expanded option restaurants to go to. For those who can't bear the thought of raw salmon, they have shrimp and chicken, both of which are cooked.

Tried this place out for the first time and got the Johnny Utah bowl which came with rice, edamame, salmon, & cucumbers as the main ingredients. I've been wanting to try Poke for the longest and finally decided today was the day. Everything I had was fresh and delicious. It was very refreshing to have something different and outside of what I'm used to on a daily. I'm glad I was able to try this and will definitely be back.

Super healthy and yummy! They have the best quality ingredients. You can build a custom sushi bowl or pick one of the options from the menu. I really liked the Duke but I got it with the Sriracha aioli and sweet soy sauce. Highly recommend it! If you don't like tuna or salmon, there is also chicken and shrimp to choose from! Or tofu, crab, calamari.. Poke Bros is my favorite restaurant in the area.

We started off with some fried green tomatoes.  Everyone does their little twist on them and this place did the same.  Personally, I am good with them as is and maybe some remoulade for dipping.  Here they had a pepper sauce that came with them and cheese melted atop the FGTs.  Not bad and nothing killed or overpowered the flavor from the FGTs.  However, I did wish that the pepper sauce had a bit more kick.  I cannot remember the name but the drink of the much was a peach based drink.  It was good and it was not just some peach flavored alcohol but it was made with peach puree.  They had me at peach when she ran through the specials.    For the main entrée it was the ribeye at a medium rare with fries and asparagus.   You get a choice of a bordelaise or garlic aioli to accompany your steak or whatever you want to dip in it.  Steak was cooked to the medium rare as I requested and that is a good start because we know there those places that consider what you ask for as just a suggestion.  Good flavor from the steak with no need for the sauce as I found out and I just enjoy asparagus.    Good experience.  Despite this being my first time here this place gave the vibe as a solid choice.  One of those places where when you are unsure of what you want but don't want to risk something new because you are hungry or with someone who cannot come to terms with their food desires.  This is a that old, trusted place you can rely on when you are hungry and good service.  A first experience that went very well.

Ofc I scroll through Yelp (as one does - literally hi friend!) and one of the top rated is The Bistro. I whip on over there and, albeit confused with the parking sitch (you can park in the back and go in through the side where the restrooms are, or you can go in through the front? Yo no sé.) I was greeted by this gorgeous host who promptly sat me and a drooooopp deeeeaaaddd waitress Annie T, don't get it twisted, came with the suggestions and shoutouts I couldn't be more excited to get. I decided on The Bistro Bee Sting (yall, I mean come on.. look at that photo. DELISH!) and a turkey melt with some cheese grits as a side. So friggin good. A bit expensive but honestly 10/10 will be back. And GET THE BEE STING! I'm still drooling. 8.4/10 only because of price, but service, ambiance, and flavor were all 10's.

I was a little disappointed that the options were very minimal and the prices were so expensive.! I got the hibachi shrimp and teriyaki chicken with vegetables only . Once she arrived she took our drink orders and after waiting so long we were ready to place our order. I point this out because people seated after us not only placed their drink order but received their drinks before we were even greeted. We waited an additional 20 ish minutes to receive our drinks. I had to find someone to follow up on our orders. It was very disappointing, especially for the price point! We all go to hibachi for the "fun," "show," and "experience." Sadly it didn't deliver. It was a bit MEH. The food was good, but that's kinda it. One positive is that if you bring a cake they will store it in the fridge until your meal is over. I'm not sure that we will return. There are other establishments that we may try next time.

I didn't dine in this time, I ordered my meal to-go but I still got a good feel for the space. I ordered spring rolls and shrimp and scallop hibachi. The veggies was definitely the highlight of the meal. The seafood was cooked nicely, but it was the fresh, crisp veggies that really stood out and gave the dish its balance. The portions were generous, big enough that you're not leaving hungry, and maybe even with leftovers for later. The spring rolls missed the mark for me. They lacked the veggie crunch I was hoping for and didn't have that crispy, golden snap that makes spring rolls irresistible. Instead, they leaned a bit on the soggy side, which left me wanting more texture and flavor balance. Overall, Hawaii Steak & Seafood House is one of those spots where you'll walk out full and satisfied portion-wise. The hibachi veggies shined, but a few other items could use a little fine-tuning. Clean space, big plates, and a meal that's worth a try if you're in the area.

My wife ordered the Roman and loved every bite. My daughter went with the salmon bento box, which was both beautiful and tasty. And me? I couldn't resist the "Sexy Girl" sushi roll--tempura shrimp and crab fried just right. Yep, yep... YUMMY! From start to finish, everything was flavorful, creative, and well-prepared.
