We were feeling like something light and delicious because we both had a long day at work and thought of Poke. We live so close, we can just pick it up before heading home. It's great. There's always parking. It's a cute little store nestled between CVS and a pizzeria. The location is clean and the atmosphere was great. They had really good music playing. The staff is super nice and friendly, too! We had a regular Poke bowl and large Poke bowl. Oh man, do they load it up! The amount of toppings to choose from is great, too not to mention their proteins as well. The House Sauce is delicious and that's the only sauce I chose. They also have a huge selection of sauces to choose from. Their proteins are fresh. No fishy smell and the proteins were meaty. Fresh. I'm very finicky when it comes to sushi, sashimi or poke. The portion of proteins they give you is a good size, too. I was only able to eat half of it and saved it for tomorrow's lunch. We were stuffed! So disappointing. They used white rice. Not sushi rice. It was gross and just not right. I was super excited to try because of the reviews however found myself disappointed. The sushi rice did not taste like sushi rice at all. It tasted more like normal side of rice. So upsetting I placed an order Sunday night and Monday morning no attempt to call to notify that they were unable to fulfill my order. Sunday I drove to their location (15 minutes drive from my house) to arrive and see that they are closed but still allowing online order. When I called to ask about my order they wanted to just create the order and have me pick it up as if there was no error completed on there end. My order was $44 dollars. This is by far the worst poke I have ever had, and possibly the worst restaurant food I've had in my life. First, I immediately could tell something was off when I saw that all ingredients were mixed together, and topped with a strange red sauce that I've never seen on poke. It tasted like tomato sauce and was an awful flavor. Next, the rice is not sushi/poke rice. It is more similar to rice you might find on grocery store shelves or in Indian food. But the worst thing of all was the fish itself. Rather than being sushi-grade, fresh fish, this was essentially just cut up pieces of raw fish, to the extent where the skin was still on the pieces of salmon. The fish and other ingredients were also partly frozen, which made things even worse. It was truly disgusting. I see that a lot of the positive reviews come from people who admittedly do not have much experience with poke or don't typically like raw fish. If you are a person who has any sense of taste for sushi/poke and have had good poke in the past, I promise that you will hate this. All told, this can barely be called poke. It is more a mash of terrible food (the picture speaks for itself, this is not how good poke looks). I'm usually pretty forgiving when it comes to food, but this really was some of the worst I've ever had, and I had to throw it out after one bite. There's no place like Home... Poke Home, that is! Stumbled upon this place after being too lazy to go too far from my house for poke. Luckily heard about this spot and decided to give it a go -- and I'm sooo glad I did. It's pretty much your standard poke place deal: pick your base, pick your sides, pick your fish/protein, pick your sauce, etc. Except, Poke Home has a few more options to choose from in each category than most places. The thing that really sold me was the fact that after picking everything, they mixed everything all together -- something that I've never had done at any poke place! Game. Changer. Usually I'll get the salad base and they'll mix the protein/fish with the toppings and sauce and place on top of the salad base. Which is great... except after I've finished everything on the top, I'm left with just a bunch of naked lettuce on the bottom. Womp womp. Not sure if they usually do that (mix it all together) or if it's something I accidentally asked for (at one point the gal said/asked something I didn't catch but I nodded anyway). But whatever it was, it was total perfection. Parking is pretty abundant in the shopping center lot. The staff was very friendly and helpful when I was there, even giving tips on the sauces. Accidently stumbled across this new Poke spot in the valley. It was seriously amazing. The regular is very very filling. The options are all fresh. The flavors of the toppings are still lingering as I write this review. The sauce game is very fresh as well. Did not taste over salted at all. Cons: The quality of the seafood isnt that great. The salmon and tuna both contained so much tendon - they were all chewy and you could tell they werent quality pieces of fish. I went in and ordered a regular bowl with tuna, I drove about 20 minutes home and opened my bowl ready to eat! The tuna was frozen all the way through ... the corners were tender but the inside was all icy and frozen solid. It was around 2 pm and I had not eaten all day so I ate the corn and cucumbers on top along with some spoon fulls of mixed greens. I had no food at home and I would not be able to drive another 20 minutes back light headed. I went back to the store and an older lady who was the manager started yelling at me claiming I ate half of my bowl and the fish is not frozen anymore, I told her that I only ate corn, cucumbers and mixed greens because I was starving and didn't have the strength to drive back on an empty stomach. !!! she proceeded to tell me that if I had been waiting the 20 minutes at home for the tuna to defrost I could of been eating it by now. Instead of wasting my time to drive back !!! I explained to her that when I order a poke bowl, I expect to eat it when I purchase it, as it is intended with fast food, not waiting for it to defrost at home for 20 minutes before I can enjoy it. All of the fish was in place, only one chewed up piece of tuna, that is how I found out it was frozen. The customer service she was giving me was so disrespectful, Yelling at me in front of other customers about how I should of waited at home for it to melt. She refunded me half, which is ok with me since I did eat the vegetables on top. although it wasn't $10 worth of vegetables that I ate... but I understand for the half refund. I am not even mad about the money or refund, It was just horrible management from her. The girl working on the line who served me my food was really sweet and a great worker! She was very nice about everything, I wish the manager who "helped" me out was as calm and collective as her. I have just now read a few other reviews expressing how rude this same lady was, Do better!!
