Poko Loko Glenview is just a delightful place for little children. Upon walking in, you almost feel like you are being transported into a Mr. Rogers episode! There's color everywhere, a train track suspended from the ceiling, a piano, and many smiling faces. My daughter attended the Jr. KG class for only a month or so and really loved her teachers! They focus on various themes and split their day up nicely between learning and playing! Although we know learning does take place while playing. Haha! They have an attached outdoor playground, which is nice! Breakfast is provided if your child gets there by 8. Lunch and snacks are also provided. It is a nut free facility. Cubbies are clearly labeled if a child has an allergy! It is organized perfectly! Poko Loko definitely has a family vibe! read more

We moved from LA to Chicago and chose Poko Loko due to the great reviews and convenient location. Our son is 3.5 years old and has had some speech delay due to bilateral ear infections and although we were approved for all services by the state of California, he didn't receive any of them due to COVID. Since we moved to Chicago we have been doing our very best and paying out of pocket for him to get speech and occupational therapy. After just 2 months at Poko Loko and 3 separate instances of being called to pick up our son early due to screaming and hitting another child (he's 3 years old) we were patronizingly told by the owner Bonnie "in 52 years of experience I've only had to ask 2 other children to leave. You have until Fall." Statements like that aren't helpful, they make me feel bad about my son, and they are unprofessional. I seriously doubt that my son is the only difficult child they've had, and if so, then their experience is worthless, because they are unwilling to help or even give him time to settle in from a major transition like moving across the country. Before we were asked to leave the center, the manager and owner made no effort to guide us (52 years of experience right?), come up with an action plan, and offered no insight on local resources to help our son. They wanted us out. This review primarily addresses the Owner and manager. The teachers tried. The moral of the story is that they are simply looking for a frictionless tuition check while making little effort to actually help the parents and children. All while charging top dollar rates. I am very disappointed in the unprofessionalism and the downright rude way in which we were asked to leave the center. I made it known that the next time a child needs some help, offering more support and guidance using their years of experience might help the parents and kid more than a simple goodbye. read more

We have been a Poko Loko (Glenview) family for almost 5 years. Both our children love coming here and are thriving. Poko Loko is a fun and safe place for the kids. They offer a variety of activities for the kids, which they love telling us about. The staff is amazing! The teachers truly care about and know each child, and teacher turn-around is very low (typically a sign of a good employer/job); most teachers have been there for years/decades. The front of the house staff is very accommodating. This is a family business, and we do feel like Poko Loko is part of our extended family! Poko Loko is also affiliated with Good Times Day Camp. It makes it very easy to drop all the kids off at Poko Loko in the morning, where the oldest gets picked up to go to camp, while the youngest stays at Poko Loko. Looking for the right daycare is always difficult for your child. I'm sure you're aware of the questions and then some. - How are the teachers? - Is there a curriculum? - Will my child be treated with respect? - Is it affordable? My wife and I spent a long time, searching and investing the necessary energy to find the right fit for our 3 year old daughter. I'm glad we settled on Poko Loko. It appears that every staff person is invested in their students. It's nice to know that from the moment you step in the door in the morning, the teachers make your child feel welcomed. And it's not only the teacher assigned to your child that know her/his name, but other teachers and administrators as well. Poko Loko is the most caring, structured, child centered learning center! My son attended Poko for 2 years and loved every minute of it! He made many great friends and had a special bond with each teacher he came across!! The staff was always friendly and cared so deeply about my child! He learned so much from them and misses everyone greatly! In fact, he often brings up memories from Poko Loko! We can't recommend them enough!!! read more

This daycare was recommended to me by a coworker, whose son attends full time. I have 2 year old twins that have been attending for a month now, and I couldn't be happier with our decision to send our kids to his daycare. Jennifer, the school director, is sweet and caring. And my son and daughter's teacher truly cares about our kids. They sing songs and create art projects everyday. They have learned so much in just a month. My daughter attends here. I live in Chicago and work nearby. Things that made me choose and stay at Poko Loko: -Kind teachers. I feel like they know my daughter and care about her as if she was their own. -Safe/welcoming/fun classroom area. It is bright and colorful with tons of toys and play areas. I like that my daughter has her own bed and not a cot. -Less expensive than in Chicago and no weird/petty/aggressive people who work here (haha! Bad experiences tying to even schedule a tour for daycare's in Chicago) -Food included (not formula or milk). They have a seasonal menu and I think she eats better than I do! -Attached backyard play area. Private and safe for children. This was a big plus for me to know my daughter can go outside every day, weather permitting. Each age group of children also has their own "backyard" with age appropriate toys/equipment. -Fun crafts. My daughter is still very young, but I live the crafts and photos they send home with her! As she gets older, I am looking forward to field trips! -Hours. They open from 6:40am-6pm. I get to work usually by 7:15 so opening before 7am was a huge plus for me. One thing to note is that they do not use any apps or technology to communicate with parents. It is old school pieces of paper that they keep records on during the day. This is fine with me and did not really influence my decision when choosing a daycare. read more

Poko Loko is a home away from home for my kids. The staff is consistent , the communication is good and the interactions are positive. I appreciate the way the staff gets to know the children as individuals. I really appreciate how many precautions they take with safety. LOVE this place!! My son attends the preschool there. He gets excited to go to school and has huge smiles when he sees his teacher and friends. The staff is AMAZING!! All have been there a very long time and they really care for each child. I also feel so comfortable dropping him off there, knowing that he is in safe hands throughout the day. My daughter started at Poko Loko in May 2010 after being at home daycare. I was worried that it would be a difficult transition for her, being 3 years old and never having been in a daycare setting. The staff at Poko Loko did everything they could to make my child feel welcomed on her first day and beyond. She has had 5 teachers since then (4 different rooms) and each and every teacher was just wonderful. They all truly love what they do and love their children. I can't say enough about how great this school is and how much they have taught my daughter and got her prepared for kindergarten. She knows more spanish then I do and I took 7 years of it in school! Her math skills are excellent for a 5 year old as well. She has made many friends and we have made some great friends with parents. I would not hesitate to send your child to Poko if you are looking for a great environment! read more

Both our sons attended Poko Loko, the oldest for 5 and a half years. We are sad to be leaving (moving). All of the staff is wonderful and caring. It's like a family environment. Teachers have many years of experience and there is very little staff turnover. We especially liked the open concept in the baby school building. We've known that our children were safe, happy and engaged. There are special activities during the week (Spanish, music...) and lots of fun field trips. We didn't know we'd have a child with a peanut allergy, and are grateful that Poko Loko is nut free! Our other child had a medical emergency while at Poko Loko. What a blessing this daycare has been to me and my son! Where do I begin? First off, the staff are always engaged with the children no matter what time I come in there! We were looking for a great daycare/preschool about 15 months ago and could not be happier with our choice of Poko Loko! Our daughter was just turning 2 at the time and had never been in a daycare setting prior. Her teachers (Sabah and Julianne) were excellent as were the administrators. My husband and I have always felt safe & at ease having our daughter at this school and feel she's blossomed over the past 15 months. She's moved up into a new 3 yo classroom and the teachers all seem like they love what they are doing and love the children. We are moving out of state and will miss Poko Loko, their teachers and our child's friends & the parent friends we've encountered. I can't speak highly enough about Poko Loko! read more

My daughter has attended the facility in Morton Grove for one year. We have been so impressed with the staff and the facility. The teachers are so caring and I know that my child feels cherished there. She loves going. The indoor gym, outdoor space and toys in her classroom often make it hard to get her out of there at the end of the day. Everything is new and the place itself is adorable.
