I called Buckners to have them come take a peek, and service the unit (which was ~1.5yr old). They sent a new technician who did not understand the issue. They first thought the unit was low on refrigerant. They then overcharged the unit. They called to the office for a second opinion. They told me that the TXV was sized/not opening. I once again asked about the code on the front. They did not take a look at the code, which the definition is printed clearly on the inside of the furnace panel. They wasted four hours of my time, sent the new guy (with no support), overcharged my system, and recommended a repair which I did not need. I then received an email with a $619 dollar estimate for the labor (as parts were covered under the manufacturer's warranty). But don't worry, there's a cheaper member price! They have an offered "membership" you can pay for monthly to allow you a discounted cost on a repair you didn't even require. I asked why the price was so high, becuase it was a 1-2 hour repair, and they said they always estimate high in the case that it takes too long, we would not pay more. Ultimately that behavior only serves the business. I got a second opinion from a commercial HVAC tech, and he instantly looked at the code, connected a module to read the blower motor status, and recommended a repair. The total time to repair was around one hour. Ultimately, Buckners was a pretty good company early on, but after they were bought things seem much worse: - Scammy practices having a "member" price ... Labor price is inflated to push you toward a monthly subscription - Unexperienced technicians deployed without someone to back them up (this is really Buckner's fault, not the new guy) - Overcharging for simple repairs - Almost caused damage to my condenser compressor due to over pressurization - Wasted my time, and I ultimately was in a state of disrepair longer due to their incompetence The ONLY reason I post these experiences is to warn others who may not be aware of what's happening and have no idea how modern HVAC systems work. Good luck Buckners, I will NEVER call you again for a third chance.

In July, I called Buckners to come out and take a look at a furnace because I thought it smelled…read moreodd. The furnace is old and has a pilot light. The technician briefly shined his light at the furnace, without taking the front cover off, and declared that the furnace was too old to look at. He would not even attempt to diagnose, and instead said I needed a new furnace. Even though he refused to actually look at the furnace and diagnose it, he still charged me the $109 callout fee. I had told their office when I called to make the appointment that the furnace was old. They could've told me at that point that they do not work on old furnaces, but did not. Instead, they charged me over $100 for doing nothing. If your furnace is older, beware that they may do the same to you. Also, as an FYI, I called a different company who came out, took the front off, cleaned it up a bit, tested for CO, told me it was working just fine despite the age, and that the smell was just related to the pilot light and was no big deal.

I've been using Summit for about 8 years now, and they have consistently exceeded my expectations…read moreevery time. They installed my HVAC when I moved in. I have never had any issues or repairs, but they come out and do my maintenance twice a year. Today I had a scheduled maintenance visit with Tara, and I can't say enough good things about her. She was not only professional and thorough, but she really took the time to go above and beyond in explaining things to me in a way that actually made sense. One thing that really stood out was how she walked me through how, why, and when to flush my water heater. She also let me know that they do plumbing too if I'd like help. Honestly, I had no idea this was even something I was supposed to be doing, and she didn't just mention it in passing she made sure to answer all my questions and explain why it mattered. I signed up for their annual maintenance plan ($199/yr, 2 service visits). They came out to do the…read moreAC checkout, since the system was 1 year old. Everything checked out fine. I didn't appreciate the $2,000 in "stuff" that I was offered to buy, but, I haven't seen an HVAC company that doesn't do that. This was on a Friday morning. The problem didn't arise until my wife and I tried to take showers on Saturday. There was no hot water. Went down to check the hot water heather, which is next to the furnace. Instead of the dial being on "hot", it was on "pilot". How it got turned to pilot, I have no proof, but, I would imagine that the tech from Summit, either accidently, or for some reason on purpose, turned it to pilot. I sent a message thru the Summit HVAC website about what had happened. I got a call from the service manager on Monday. He said that there was no way, no possibility whatsoever, that his tech, in any way, shape, or form, could have moved that dial on the water heater. When I said "I guess it's a mystery", he said "sure is". But, he reassured me that Summit was still there to take care of me. I told him "that wasn't going to happen". I said I wanted out of the annual agreement and half my money back (I had paid the full $199). I got less back than I asked for, but, that is another story for perhaps another time. Needless to say, I do not need these people in my home. But, for everyone else, if you want techs that are infallible, and a company that will stand behind the infallibility of those techs, perhaps Summit HVAC is for you.

Not only is it too much for me to deal with but it can really be hard on my 150lb dog who's not a warm weather kinda guy. I was worried he wouldn't make it another day when I called Sommer Heating and Cooling. I told them what was going on and they were here within the hour. 20 mins later my house was starting to cool off. I couldn't be more happy. Sweet AC! Their rates were reasonable, they were friendly and they saved me and the dog. I'd definitely recommend these guys!

I had service done on our old A/C and the service was great. I had some issues with the A/C, but…read moreafter the service techs worked on it, it was fixed and the problems were resolved. I figured it needed to be replaced, but the tech did some maintenance to it and fixed it. I asked how much it would cost to replace it and he said it depends on many different factors of what you want and need but right now it's running good now. So, why replace it if it's running well? I agreed. When the A/C does go out, I'll get hold of United and have them come out and give me a bid for a new one along with a couple other companies. I was told United offered financing too which was nice to know. I have recommended United before and will continue to because the job got done quickly and professionally and done right the first time and that old A/C is still running well.

We have a home warranty that dispatched the service call to Smart Heating and Cooling. Their response time was quick; they were knowledgable and professional. I scheduled the A/C tuneup this season and was told that the fan was not working and they gave me a quote of $800 to service it and $2700 to give it full workup!!! THAT'S WITH THE DISCOUNT!!! I called around and found another certified HVAC specialist who offered to come out and look at it. They spent 30 minutes at the house and had me up and running for only $75. The fixed the fan and filled it with freon as well as looking at the rest of the system to make sure I was up to par. I called and canceled my service contract the next day.

The service has been consistently excellent, with very friendly technicians who do a great job of presenting you with options without pressuring you to spend more money that you should. I can't guarantee that their prices are the cheapest in town; but I'm willing to pay slightly more for a company that I know will stand by its work. I have to give one specific example -- we recently had a technician stop by because our A/C seemed to be running less efficiently than usual. As he went down the steps of our garage to begin his inspection, he slipped on a workout mat that I had forgotten at the foot of the stair -- It was completely my fault and I felt horrible. He seemed to hurt his knee and to be in some discomfort. I would have absolutely understood if he had called off the service to return at a later date, or if he had offered rushed or less than courteous service. Of course, he did nothing of the kind, but offered the usual patient and thorough service that I've become accustomed to. He inspected our system and cleaned our A/C unit, which fixed the inefficiencies that we had been experiencing. The kicker, after all this, is that we were charged nothing at all because the service agreement from our A/C purchase, which I had completely forgotten about, was still in effect! Our technician, of course, reminded us of this. Great company. I recommend them with confidence.

Wore little booties over his shoes when he came in, which is a nice feature. They always do great work.Our house is now cool again! He also cleaned the AC unit out with a hose, which I'm sure he didn't have to do.

Brent inspected the unit and said it's fine and should last 15-20 years. Gatza is a smaller shop where Brent does work, unlike big places that send junior techs on commissions.
